Avatar f tn //www.heart.org/en/news/2020/02/04/chronic-stress-can-cause-heart-trouble While you don't have high blood pressure now, enough stress over time can lead to it. That can lead to heart attack. Also, when stressed, we sometimes don't take great care of ourselves. We may eat 'bad' food, we may not exercise, we don't sleep. all of this can play a role. Best to control the anxiety.

I am a very high anxiety person that has suffer from chronic depression too for my whole life. My mother was diagnosed with heart disease at age 72 or so and died at 78. I am worried I have heart disease also. I am aware of my heart beat almost always. I have flutters or irregular heatbeats off and on. I am afraid of the heart test like the stress test.

Avatar n tn m now wondering if perhaps my symptoms are due to depression or are perhaps exacerbated because of depression. My question is can depression be a purely physical disease? In other words, can one have depression without feeling 'sad' emotionally? I've always been a happy, optimistic person. I have no other major stressors in my life, aside from my present illness. I'm a 30 y/o male with no history of any serious illness. I'm in good shape and have a good social life.
Avatar f tn Well there are several types of depression, major depression, chronic depression, bipolar manic depression as examples. Symptoms of depression can include an extreme feeling of sadness, sometimes you can’t sleep or you sleep too much, you cant concentrate, you feel hopeless, you have negative thoughts that you cant control no matter how much you try! you can lose your appetite or sometimes you even gain appetite. You can be easily irritated.
Avatar f tn protected sex is safe sex. you did not get HIV. 2 days is too early for symptoms, and symptoms are never used to diagnose HIV. I do think you have anxiety though, I've been in your shoes before, not eating, heart racing, couldn't sleep, couldn't focus at work. it was indeed my own mind causing the problems.
Avatar n tn As for the physical symptoms of depression I was having, it helped tremendously. However, I believe inside every depressed, or anxiety-ridden person out there, lies a root cause to their mental state. Until that root cause is not only discovered, but dealt with, the medicine will just help get thru each day. Dealing with the cause is another story.
Avatar f tn Hi, my name is Emily, I'm 34 years old, have a boyfriend and together we have 3 kids. We live in a two bedroom house in northwest Ohio. We aren't rich but we aren't poor. He's a contractor and I have an eBay store and also do some cleaning. Our kids are a 15 year old girl, a 13 year old boy and a 8 year old boy. We also have a dog. So that's me in a nutshell. I lead a high stress life.
429326 tn?1282328354 Do keep in mind that real, phycially based symptoms cause stress, and stress can then worsen symptoms. I am sure your father is just hoping to get you some peace of mind while your diagnosis is in the air. As for the neuro telling you about the symptoms of stress/depression, I would take her remarks under consideration, but why take them as the bottom line? Would you let the dentist diagnose a foot problem?
Avatar n tn In my early twenties I was diagnosed with ptsd from a late childhood trauma, chronic mild to moderate depression and generalized anxiety disorder. I manage my symptoms without drugs through meditation and mindfulness. I am usually very tired even though I get enough sleep. My lifestyle is more sedentary than I would like. I may even be slightly dehydrated from breastfeeding and drinking caffeinated beverages.
Avatar m tn Hi Lincoln, Unfortunately I do not know any medicine yet, but I am looking for it. I suffer from chronic fatigue as well, but never had true depression. It seems that all started after a wrong treatment with steroids and two severe viral infections. My symptoms are insomnia, very low energy, difficulty to concentrate, getting annoyed by bright lights/colours (especially red) and abdominal tenderness (muscle-related). Could you please inform me about your symptoms?
Avatar n tn A few months later after final exams, the fatigue and many other symptoms set in. My first physician thought it was either depression or chronic fatigue syndrome since my blood tests were normal so I decided to try traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). The acupuncture and herbs didn't help and I had tried all kinds of things for a long time after that from colon cleansing to vitamin supplements. The only breakthrough I had was from taking a supplement called liposomal vitamin C.
Avatar f tn Get your kidney function, parathyroid gland function and adrenal function tests done because these affect the electrolyte balance in the body. Stress, alcohol, caffeine and fatigue all cause similar symptoms. Hence if you take alcohol or coffee then cut this down. Sleep at regular hours and see if it helps. Certain sleep disorders and peripheral nerve disorders due to diabetes or hypothyroidism can also be the cause.

Avatar m tn Some folks my be stressed by having the hep C infection which can lead to chronic stress that can in certain individual lead to depression but it is rare. If it were true than a large portion of the 3-4 million Americans who are infected with chronic HCV would be clinically depressed.
3063937 tn?1352422855 I have had depression for 20+ years, and each time I take myself off my anti-depressant, depression comes back. This has happened many times. I have been in hospital, seen psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors, etc. But I am still fighting it. I am in good place at the moment thanks to medication. I live in UK so cannot help you with residential care. Here a psychiatrist will recommend a hospital, or people pay a lot to go privately.
