Avatar f tn Hi, I'm 24, a former ballet dancer (stopped when I was 16) with a stress fracture in the second metatarsal of my right foot that has not healed after 3 years of treatment and a possible new stress fracture in my left foot from over compensating. Why is it that my feet aren't healing and keep fracturing? I don't do any strenuous exercising like running or jumping.
1628248 tn?1299542436 If it is a new fracture and you do not have a history of injury, then stress or pathological fracture will need to be ruled out. Please discuss all this with an orthopedic specialist, take a second opinion and then only go for surgery. Most sternal fractures heal on their own. Take care!
Avatar f tn BUT THE REALITY IS IT APPEARS SOMETHING THEN is eating away at your bones, causing a fracture.
Avatar n tn Also, left untreated and if it is a stress fracture, you could move it wrong with weight on it and case a fracture. I can tell you from experience, it hurts to break a bone...especially a weight bearing bone such as the foot. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Hello, I have been reading the various emails submitted by folks with cuboid stess fracture and I certainly do appreciate the sharing of stories. I have been in pain of the left foot for about a month now, but do not remember when I "hurt" it. I finally went to the foot doctor today (7/8/09) and the doctor took Xrays and found nothing. But, he did locate the "pain" and said it may be a cuboid stress fracture.
Avatar m tn After seeing a podiatrist and having a bone scan it was determined that I had a stress fracture in my cuboid bone. During that time I was in the Army and had already been diagnosed with plantar fascistis, heel spur, bone spur in my ankle, and possible osteoarthritis in my midfoot. The doctor said that I could just wear a boot for 3 weeks and then it would be fine. I got out of the Army a few weeks later and when I returned to the States I saw a podiatrist at the VA as I was still in pain.
Avatar f tn I have stress fractures in both of my legs and I wanted to know what can I eat to recover faster and what should I eat to avoid having this problem in the future?
Avatar f tn Ugh the boot, i didn't have a stress fracture but i tore 70% of the tendon in the back of my ankle. I waited to go to the doc until i could barely walk so they put me in a boot for 8 weeks. It sucked and i still have problems. So deff go to the doc, the boot will help take pressure off of it.
Avatar m tn Hi agludovic, how are you doing and how is the pain? In your follow up visit to the orthopedician, you can discuss the probable cause of a stress injury to the leg bone causing the pain and discomfort. "A stress fracture of the lower leg is generally considered an overuse injury. They are sometimes difficult to diagnose due to vague discomfort and generalized pain over the muscles of the lower leg and are often misdiagnosed as shin splints.
Avatar f tn For anyone who has personally experienced a navicular stress fracture, what did it feel like?
Avatar f tn He was also not sure if the fracture had anything to do with his growth line but said he was going to treat it as a minor fracture. So anyway, since my son plays competitive soccer it has been extremely hard for him to "not play" but he has been really good about following the dr's orders. However, his team just made the playoffs and will be playing this weekend.
Avatar f tn I recently had an MRI that indicated a fracture line on T1 Sequence (Between L4 and L5), most consistent with a macro trabecular fracture, possibly on a stress or insufficienct basis. I had extreme pain, unable to stand up, walk, get out of bed, lay down, sit down, nothing so I suggested this MRI to my doctor. I let the doctor know that it was not familiar pain as I have chronic pain in my back and go for epidurals every 3 months.
Avatar n tn Can someone tell me what's going on with my stress fracture! I was diagnosed with the sfx at the end of January and I have rested since. Biked and swam only. I had an MRI done a few weeks ago and my doctor says that I am completely healed; no edema and no stress fracture. I have run three times since the doctor cleared me with no pain. However, I still often feel slight discomfort, and recently (actually the day before the MRI) I badly reagravated the area while biking.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have tibia stress fracture(result of jogging and exercises) in both my knees. Its been almost 4 weeks that I guess I had this incident. Initially I had pain only when I was jogging, other than that I was able to walk quite normally with out any pain, so I ignored and did not consult any doctor but 2 weeks approx. after the incident I experienced extreme pain while walking for about a week, (then I have consulted a doctor) after which the pain was gone.
Avatar f tn Anything unhealed can cause chronic pain. You may be in for it for the long haul. Is PT an option for you? Does heating pad help. Ice works better for some people.
Avatar m tn I went to see some specialists in bone and soft tissue tumors over this weekend, and I was informed that I most likely never had an osteoid osteoma, but a stress fracture the whole time - and he had the imaging to prove it. So basically I had a stress fracture ablated. Now I understand this could delay healing of the fracture, because the ablation has just killed a large chunk of bone. I'm not looking for malpractice or anything - what's done is done. But I do want to get better.
Avatar f tn It hurts more when I walk on it, less when I take weigh off on it, but throbs when I lay down at night. I was starting to wonder if it was perhaps actually a stress fracture and not MS related pain. I thought that maybe since my muscles were so weak in that leg that maybe it was too much extra stress on my bones. I also have a high instep (high arches). I was reading that people with high arches are prone to stress fractures.
Avatar n tn they are doing some U/S stimulation and heat/ice. If this is not a fracture has it somehow turned into a chronic pain issue? Appreciate any feedback....
Avatar m tn He ordered a CT scan and a bone scan. I was almost sure he had spondylolysis (stress fracture on pars). To my surprise both tests came negative. So, Dr. ordered an MRI. MRI report says: L5-S1: marrow edema in the rigth pedicle and pars consistent with a stress fracture. CT correlation helpful. Dr. says is only a stress reaction (no fracture) but he placed him in a brace for 6 weeks. Son started feeling pain late April and the CT and bone scan were June 11.
Avatar m tn There is a chronic nondisplaced left L4 pars interarticularis fracture. There is thickening of the cortex of the right L4 pars interarticularis but no fracture of the right L4 pars interarticularis . There is a 2mm grade 1 anterolisthesis of the L4 on L5, with uncovering of the disc posteriorly. No significant spinal canal stenosis or neural foraminal narrowing is noted. No nerve root impingement is identified. The AP dimension of the thecal sac measures 16mm. The facet joints are unremarkable.
Avatar n tn My stress fracture in my foot(4th metatarsal) occured in November 2009. Almost 14 months later, I am still in a lot of pain and cannot even think about running. I have always been an active person and an athlete and I'm about to go crazy! Initially, the stress fracture was not found because it was too small to show up on an Xray. I eventually had an MRI done and it found the fracture. I was put in a walking boot for 3 months, and then attempted weight bearing regular walking.
1406332 tn?1315962760 I have no experience with spine fractures. I do hope for you that it is easy to repair and that you finally get some relief. You will be in my thoughts. And just think how much better you will feel. Isn't it weird though that a spinal fracture could last so long....five years seems a long time to have a fracture that hasnt' healed. At least to me it does but hey I am not a doctor so I have no clue. I hope when all is said and done you turn out to feel great again.
Avatar n tn i have been diagnosed with hip arthritis and a stress fracture in my right hip. i have chronic pain and weakness in my right leg. i have been put on fasimax with calcium and vitimin d. what are my chances of getting better and not having to have a hip replacement? This discussion is related to weakness in legs.
Avatar f tn Abnormal longitudinal vertical cleft with corticated margins involves the mid navicular bone waist with only a small component of bridging bone and marrow posteriorly and inferiorly. A previous partial fracture with an ununited component is likely.

Avatar f tn Stress fractures occur in a "spectrum" if you will. It varies from a "stress reaction" which shows up as swelling within the bone, to a stress fracture which obviously has a fracture line present. Assuming this did not occur from a fall or other traumatic injury, then it is likely related to overuse. I have personally evaluated patients for osteoporosis with prior overuse pelvic fractures who ultimately had normal bone density on their DXA scan.
Avatar m tn I had surgery for a fracture on C7 (also called Clay Shoveler Fracture). Has anyone had surgery for a fracture at C7. It been 4 days since my surgery. What is recovery from surgery for a fracture at C7 like. At the present time my neck and shoulder are in pain and very sore. I have had a constant bad headache that will not stop. Any suggestion on how my recovery will go over the next few weeks will be appreciated and what I can do to help with my recovery.
Avatar f tn The radiologist need to see whether there is a fracture or not. If a fracture is found then he should look for displaced fracture or an un-displaced fracture, as the treatment for both conditions varies. Hope this helps. Bye.
Avatar n tn My biggest concern would be a stress fracture. Stress fractures occurs from overtraining, usually from increases in milage in too qucikly. They can also be caused by poor footwear, runners should change their shoes at a minimum of every three months. See an orthopedist who will examine you and take an xray. If the xray is inconclusive, you will have a bone scan or an MRI. If there is a stress fracture, the treatment will be centered around rest until the bone heals.
