stress

495035 tn?1221753092 No, I haven't experienced this, but it's an interesting question. I know that sometimes stress can bring on hair loss. Or at least that's what my friend's doc told her. Chronic illness can certainly add stress. We all can attest to that!! Do I hear an 'Amen?
Avatar m tn I also switched birth control brands at this time so had blood tests done to see what was going on but they said all came back fine and it was probably stress. I started on Rogaine and after about 6 months, the hair loss stopped and all seemed fine though I did have chest pains, went to a cardiologist, had a CAT scan and he said it was just stress. Wow. Then, my husband and I moved to France. Again, hair loss. I started back on the Rogaine and just waited it out.
Avatar m tn There is a chronic form also which persists for a longer duration and starts with insidious onset. Chronic telogen effluvium is hair shedding lasting longer than 6 months. Treatment consists of medications like Minoxidil, surgical approach(hair transplantation) and improvement in diet. My sincere advice is to consult a trichologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn For example, about 3 or 4 months after an illness or a major surgery, you may suddenly lose a large amount of hair. This hair loss is related to the stress of the illness and is temporary. Hormonal problems may cause hair loss. If your thyroid gland is overactive or underactive, your hair may fall out. This hair loss usually can be helped by treatment thyroid disease. Hair loss may occur if male or female hormones, known as androgens and estrogens, are out of balance.
Avatar f tn i was told id be facing hair loss but i had no idea it would turn out to be so bad! my hair has become very thin. last week i went and saw a dermatologist who looked at my hair and prescribed me with 4 medicines. he asked me apply Clobestasol Propionate BP 0.05% w/w to my scapl twice daily for a week then give it a break for 3 days and apply minoxidil 3% for those 3 days twice daily, along with which he asked me to take 2 pills bioton 600 and spironolactone 100.
Avatar n tn Thyroid disorders and diabetes too could be a cause. Insomnia, stress and anxiety along with poor diet and excess of caffeine too can be the cause. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
Avatar m tn The stress the body experiences from these can also cause hair loss. Otherwise, if it turns out to be a chronic condition, the most accessible OTC is minoxidil (found in Rogaine). Also, if she doesn't like the treatment or suggested tests by her regular doctor, check out ishrs dot org for a referral to a dermatologist in your area specializing in alopecia. Best of luck to your wife!
Avatar n tn use that minoxidil if you are satisfied with that , mean while start using finasteride 1mg tablets this blocks DHT in your hair , which causes hair loss mostly...use multivitamins tablets should include biotin and zinc also...
Avatar n tn neoral definitely is associated with this type of hair growth. the hair loss is probably related to telogen effluvium, which can occur this time post-transplantation.
Avatar f tn Reading through your post it sounds like stress causing your hair to fall out. Significant hair loss (and graying) usually happens about 3 months after a stressful event - so if you count back 3 months from now, did you have an extremely stressful time? Stress also causes premature graying of hair. Look at presidents before they took office and after, that's what stress will do to your appearance and hair.
Avatar m tn My boxer had a chronic diarrhea condition that has improved but not gone away, so his immune system is probably lowered. In the past two weeks he has been losing his hair all over, and seems to have alot of bumps on him. Under his chine on his neck the pumps look like a rash, are red and pimply. I can see them there cause he has white coloration under his chin, but I can feel them on his back, and even he has them on his testicles.
Avatar f tn Stress is a huge reason for hair loss on anyone. My mom experienced hair loss while undergoing treatments. I have experienced hair loss for stress, medications for migraines (seizure meds for prevention will do it every time). Also my doctor put me on a great prenatal vitamin that helped with my hair loss and I started to have new growth. Soak with your doctor and see what he recommends. Could be a simple imbalance due to stress in itself or the cancer side effects.
Avatar f tn I just finished Sovaldi and olysio and no hair loss at all, in fact hair looked great I do have hypothyroid which is familial, mother , daughters have it, Check your thyroid levels That can effect hair loss, dryness etc( even my eye brows and under arms thinned from hypothyroidism ) You may need to be on thyroid medication such as synthyroid if it is off
Avatar n tn How common is hair loss after hysterectomy? I am at 6 weeks post op and have noticed a small amount of hair coming out with daily showers. Twice weekly Vivelle patches were upped from .05 mg to .10 mg. I am feeling ok otherwise. I still have one ovary intact.
Avatar f tn s gotten to the point where I have some sort of cercle with no hair in the center of my brain, a little bit posterior on my skull and I also have a very somewhat large and visible hair line in the center of my head. Other asian girls like me do have that sometimes, but not as accentuate than me. I'm still a young woman, and I was wondering if there was some cure to this?
400867 tn?1371753094 I have recently been on cymbalta for a few months and my hair loss was severe. In the morning my pillow was covered in hair. During the day my hair was constantly dropping. I dreaded washing my hair as the plug hole often became blocked. This side effect was giving me such stress.
Avatar n tn I was recently put on insulin and have to take 4 shots a day now, I have noticed that when I wash my hair that I am losing my hair, my hair has become alot thinner and this worries me, I have heard that this can happen to people who use insulin is this normal?
230948 tn?1235844329 Is the hair loss behind the right ear the same as the hair loss behind the left ear? Or is the hair loss random, with a patch missing here and there in the areas you described? If the hair loss is bilaterally equal from one side of the body to the other, then you need to consider a couple of things. It could be mange. It could also be hormonally triggered. It's even possible that it could be caused by Cushing's Disease, which is a tiny tumor on the pituitary gland.
Avatar n tn Hair loss can be due to many factors, and most cases of hair loss are temporary. A drastic change in your diet could cause it. Hormonal factors could cause it. Sometimes certain vitamin deficiencies could cause it. Certainly stress can cause it. And on and on, ad nauseam. You need a different doctor if this quack thought your hair loss was related to herpes. You need a general medical exam and probably some general lab studies, but that's about it.
Avatar f tn I'm very early in my pregnancy and I've noticed some mild hair loss. I have a lot of hair so it's normal for me to shed but this is a lot more than usual. Anyone experience this during pregnancy? Or maybe its due to something else?
