Common Questions and Answers about Chronic gas pain treatment

gas

Avatar f tn My stomach gets hard distended and I have to lay down on my left side in the fetal position to get the gas to pass. Sometimes the gas affects my lower back and I am in so much pain I can barely stand. I am so tired of laying on bathroom floors. I have been tested for celiac, I've had breath test for small intestine bacterial overgrowth which was positive for intestinal Methogen Overgrowth but the treatment did not work. The antibiotics just made me feel awful.
Avatar f tn I have chronic gas. This is usually somewhat painful but not excruciating. It usually occurs almost as soon as I eat, especially after 12:00 p.m. Thank you, Carole Roth This discussion is related to Chronic Gas.
Avatar n tn I have had my gallbladder out for over 10 years now and am still experiencing the pain and stomach trouble I had before the removal. I have chronic pain in the RUQ and chonic nausea which does not go away with food, drink, or meds. I am currently on Kapidex for GERD and have recently been diagnosed with diverticulosis. I also have an underactive thyroid which I am taking synthroid for.
Avatar f tn I was on Accutane for nearly 8 months instead of the standard 5 month treatment. During the last 2-3 months of treatment, I began telling my doctor about pain in my stomach. He said it wasn't a problem and would resolve when I was done taking the drug. Well, I have been off of Accutane nearly a year, and am still having digestive problems, which I've never had before. I have had PERFECT digestion my whole life until this.
Avatar n tn For 6 months, I have been experiencing stomach pain, gas & occasion diarrhea. I have seen my primary physician and a gastro specialist. I have had an ultra-sound, endoscopy, cat scan and colonoscopy. Nothing significant has shown up and I still have the same symptoms. Nexium was prescribed. Any advice?

Avatar f tn Just how severe can gas pain be? Can it hurt in your chest, upper back, ribcage, and make you feel short of breath? I am really scared that something is wrong with me. I don't have money or insurance.
Avatar f tn m not sure that is always the case. I deal with chronic constipation due to pain meds, but I feel this pain is more than just the constipation. I take Protonix 40 mg. twice daily for GERD. I tried some Reglan hoping it would help, but it made no difference. I was also diagnosed with hypothyroid and just started taking a new med for it today. Any help would be appreciated.

1282678 tn?1275186261 I have never heard of reflex causing chronic gas and bloating in the intestines, constipation, dizziness, and palpitations. Is this very rare? I have GERD and am on treatment for it and I have no symptoms of GERD anymore, but still all the other symptoms and more that mandylynn0621 mentioned.
Avatar m tn so PCPs tend not to be very aggressive unless the pain is debilitating and acute. The next step is usually conservative treatment. Back pain is also one of the costliest conditions in out country. Audrea offered some good suggestions. She is correct when she says the longer a condition goes untreated the more difficult it may be to treat, the more lengthy the treatment process and the less favorable the outcome.... regardless of the diagnosis.
Avatar f tn I had intestenal surgery 5 years ago for divertculitis, diverticuloses and absesses. I had a colostomy bag for 8 weeks. Ever since I've experienced chronic diarrhea and vomiting. I have had 2 colonoscopy's and 2 endoscpy's along with cat-scans(5) along with countless blood test and ultra sounds. I was told they didn't know what was wrong with me.
Avatar f tn t aware that laying on their right side can cause gas to build up in your colon and form a gas bubble. The way the colon is shaped and with the gas rising upward, when laying on the right side it gets trapped in the ascending and transverse sections of the colon and is not as easily expelled as it is when laying on the left side. I recommend trying some OTC treatments like beano, gas X, prilosec, prevacid, Mylanta, mylox etc. for a few days.
Avatar m tn Constipation or gas can cause quite some severe pain. Gas may build in the transverse colon and cause pain under the ribs. Gas can build in other parts of large and small intestine. Gas is caused by bacteria, especially when you feed them with sugars. She can try a low-fructose diet. If she has fructose malabsorption, the diet should help in 4 days. http://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/21247?
867524 tn?1314918673 I have been suffering with chronic nausea for 2 weeks and I've taken nausea meds that don't help for very long. Any idea what I can do for this problem?. I've been to the Dr and he doesn't know what is causing it.
Avatar m tn I am 25/F and have had chronic pelvic pain for over 6 years and pain in my lower sternum for over a year with no diagnosis.
Avatar m tn I am now 76 years old and a chronic pain patient. The problem is that I live in Arkansas and all the MD's here refuse to see chronic pain patients, I suspect because of patient abuse of pain meds. I last attended a pain clinic about 10 years ago, but there are none here in Arkansas. I know the techniques and how to get ahead of the curve, but I can't find a doctor willing to follow my condition or perscribe the pain meds.
Avatar m tn You should do ultrasound to check the pain reason, normally HBV is not associated with pain until the last stage when your liver does not function. I do not think that it is the case because even if your doctor is not the biggest expert in HBV he would have noticed that you have serious liver problem. The pain or discomfort is most likely comming form gal bladder and you will see it on ultrasound. also you need to do fibroscan to check if you have fibrosis.
Avatar m tn Since the problem is now localized in the lower extremity, the possibility of degenerative changes causing nerve compression has to be ruled out by nerve conduction studies. The treatment is to remove the compression. You have to discuss the best treatment option with a neurologist, which can range from medication to physiotherapy to traction, lumbar belts or even surgery.
