Avatar f tn d be interested to know what studies have shown. I only know people who have bipolar disorder who took medication later in life or young people just starting it. If someone is older, relatively speaking and took medication their whole life I'd be interested to see if scientifically speaking or even from an average consumer's perspective the symptoms clinically worsen. Or is it just that people haven't found the right medication and after time they become less useful.
Avatar f tn Yes, it is MS. Yes, the memory holes from MS are really difficult to deal with. I also sometimes have trouble recognizing objects. Or thinking of words. It's mainly why I don't work any more. I know exactly what you mean. I have to ask my boyfriend if I have seen a movie before. Or a broadway play even - which is a much bigger deal, obviously. I don't remember meals or when I last saw a friend - or if I have paid a bill or not. So I have to pay them as soon as they come in.
Avatar m tn It sounds like you may be having some work problems. That can cause stress and the memory problems too.
Avatar f tn As a child, I was diagnosed with ADD and depression, but I thought they went away. Lately, I have been having problems remembering things, lately being a few years. I was in a bad car accident and that was when it came to my attention. I'm not sure if I have always had this problem, but I know I have had some hard blows to the head in my life. My mind is all mixed up all the time. My thoughts are jumping from thing to the next and I end up forgetting what I was thinking just a second ago.
804276 tn?1480858056 i have had really bad memory problems for most of my life and was wondering if my conditions could cause this. i have points in my life, many, that i just don't remember at all and they aren't bad situations. everything from what i ate yesterday to a family member coming to visit from out of town, years ago, but i don't remember it ever happening. i'm so afraid of alzheimers when i get older but i don't think my memory problems fits alzheimers.

Avatar f tn I have a question regarding memory issues as of late. I have always been typically forgetful. As in: I don't remeber some childhood memories, or certain things that others do remember. However lately I seem to be much worse! I am 22 and have a 2 year old daughter. I have been fretting about HIV, financial situation, my job and others. These things are really taking a tole on me and consuiming my life. I have become very stressed anxious, and slightly depressed.
Avatar m tn HMMM very interesting my family was a little of both. My paretns drank but we very in the middle class so it was sorta ok yah know, it was the 80's. My earliest memories are of whe I was about 5 but I think thats a little late. My friends dad was an alcoholic and she has memories at about the age of 4 or so. She can remember sitting around while her dad and his friends smoked pot and played guitar. My biological wa a raging drunk left my mom for days without food or money took the car......
Avatar n tn I have a high intelligence, but an extremely low working memory percentile. I have acne/skin problems, but clean my face regularly. I sleep more then enough each night, but awake feeling lousy. I have been taking anti-depressants for several months, and while slightly helping with feeling constantly depressed, have not helped with my working memory/tension/unconscious anxiety... Is there a known treatment for this type of problem? suggested medicine or supplements?

I also loose my train of thought and struggle to finish sentences sometimes as i forget what im saying. I forget what i do with my keys, money, ect but remeber passwords for things. Avatar f tn I've been experiencing some really irritating short-term memory loss problems (for myself as well as other people). I am 35, female and trying to figure out why and how I can improve this. Ther are a few things I have considered...I was in an auto accident last year. I was t-boned and the driver side airbag went off and pretty much saved my life.
Avatar m tn Most of the people do not remember names because they do not stress on remembering them. Although you are in age of 60s and most common memory problems come with this elderly age as an Alzheimer’s disease, it is essential other possibilities of memory loss like hormonal imbalance, stress/depression, and vitamin deficiency need to be evaluated thoroughly. In this disease, normal day to day activities have been affected more than memory loss.
Avatar m tn I have taken many asthma medications over the years and wonder if there is any explanation or I direction you can point me to as to what may have happened to my memory. You are probably the wrong person to talk to but maybe you can direct me to the right person.
Avatar f tn As this problem occured starting 2 yrs ago you say, did you hit your head in some way? This is sign of head trauma, but if not then stress can cause similar symptoms that you are describing.
Avatar f tn I had no memories of my childhood prior to the age of 13, I also had a lot of problems with memories in my current life. I knew that i dealt with what i deemed 'emotional abuse and somewhat neglect' as I was growing up, but no other memories of sexual abuse. I did not want to create memories that were not real. Since then I have been SLOWLY working with a very good trauma therapist and doctor who knows about that stuff and have begun to uncover a lot of things.
604266 tn?1236358985 Having known children who become so traumatized from continuous nightmares that they can no longer sleep in the dark, sleep alone, sleep in their bed, etc., I know that they can cause trauma. It seems possible that a lifetime of continuous nightmares may actually be what's traumatizing you. Best wishes. Does the Ambien work for you when you take it?
Avatar f tn I have had memory loss for a long time now. I have gone through some trauma in my life, but I have never banged my head or been in a car accident. I have been emotionally abused and was in a bad controlling relationship 4 years ago. I am 21 years old, yet as soon as events happen I don't remember them unless I see pictures or hear someone recall a happy event. For example, they will say remember when? and then they will tell a story and I don't remember it until they explain.

Avatar f tn Some studies show that high levels of stress in pregnancy may cause certain problems during childhood, like having trouble paying attention or being afraid. It’s possible that stress may also affect your baby’s brain development or immune system. How can you reduce stress during pregnancy? Here are some ways to reduce stress: •Figure out what’s making you stressed and talk to your partner, a friend or your health care provider about it.
715004 tn?1309077280 Hugs to you too. If I figure out the memory thing I'll let you know. At this point in my life, I have 50 some-odd years of partial memories to keep me company. If getting the good ones from my past means getting the bad ones back too, I'll stick with the partial memories. ;) And, I'll just keep trying to make more good ones, so I can keep some partials of those as well. ECT definitely doesn't sound like something I would want to try. Did it help?
Avatar n tn I have problems remembering a lot of things. Names of relatives or friends. Things I did in the past. My children (grown) will talk about things that I was a part of and I draw a complete blank. I forget word terms, even the name of some things. It seems like bad memories are imbeded in my brain though. I remember most all of that, in detail. Yet I can watch two movies and can't remember what they were. It takes me a while. So, believe me you are not alone.
Avatar n tn I try to be in control of things but often times feel as if I was never in control in the first place...or feel like I'm slipping from any control. When people say something that I don't like, and when I try to back myself up...oftentimes I feel as if I can't... I have had a lot of people disrespect me as an individual but I could never bring myself to say what I felt ever. I have also had suicidal thoughts and tendancies, as well as a history of self inflicted harm...
