Common Questions and Answers about Chest tightness upper left side

chest

I then began feeling the usual chest tightness and restriction I feel most days. Located centrally around the sternum, lft/right side of sternum and upper chest, below base of throat.; I have been made aware of a tingling 'nerve' like pain somewhere around my left shoulder/arm pit, which radiates down my arm to my middle two fingers!? When I massage the area and my arm, I can not locate the nerve to releave it.
symptom of intermittent chest tightness on the upper left side of my chest (almost near shoulder). It just comes and goes and it is just a tight sensation. I have read this could be anxiety and am wondering if anyone else experiences this. FYI I recently had a echo done that was all good and holter monitor showing Sinus Rhythm/Sinus Tach. I mentioned this to MD and he didn't seem concern but as all of you with anxiety know, it just isn't that easy. I thank you for you r help in advance.

He referred me to a cardiologist and he did an ekg and then just pushed it off and said I'm fine. Everyday I have the left side chest pain that is like right over my heart and it's like an intermittent pinching pain. It feels like its coming from my heart. What could be causing this??? Today I had it really bad and my left arm started to ache, which it does sometimes with the chest pain, so I checked my b/p at wal-mart on one of those machines and it said 187/97!!!!!
I am hoping for some reassurance. I have been having chest tightness, stomach complaints since early summer. No specific reason brought this on. Multiple providers along with blood work, diagnostic testing and even an upper endoscope last week all have come back negative except for a small sliding hiatal hernia with mild reflux. All the physicians feel that it could be anxiety/panic, but I cannot get out of my mind the physical symptoms I feel.

About 12 years ago when I first noticed it, I went to the doctor to get it checked out. They did an EKG, blood work, x-ray, stress test etc.... and everything came back normal. I do NOT feel the pain when I am exercising. It really only seems to be when I am at rest, sitting at computer, sitting at desk, or even just thinking about it.
About 6 weeks ago I developed a pain on my chest(left side). One day it moved to the left side and from there it move to the center of my back where it has been for the last 5 weeks, the pain is not extreme but is there and some times it moves to the left blade on my back. My cardiologist performed the test where he inserted a camera in my groin and checked the heart and associated organs and found nothing.

For two months, I have had a mild to moderate pain in my upper-left quadrant, right on or below the rib cage, and sometimes a sense of pressure in the mid/low sternum, just to the left when I lean over. Occasionally, after sitting upright a long time, the pain radiates to the outer rim of my left rib and less occasionally to a small point in the middle of my back, well below the shoulder. The pain mostly feels like a cramp muscle, sometimes a sharp, moderate pain.
Hi, I'm a 28 year old female and offlate (about 2 weeks) I've been feeling this vibration on the left side of my chest. It feels more intense when I've got my arm against the side. It seems to be more in my left breast. I mostly feel it only while I'm sitting. Is this normal? Should I have this checked up or would it go away in a while?

Elizabeth, I was having the same type of pain, but more in my mid right back and under right shoulder and side. Sometimes on left side of back and some burning pain in upper abdominal area. I had all the same similar tests done while taking Prevacid. The symptoms just seem to get worse and all tests were coming up normal and no H.Pylori was present. I went for 2 years with this pain and taking Prevacid or Prilosec continuously. The symptoms never went away.

,,,,,, so these are my symtoms 1)Pain usually occuring around the left side of chest with a rare occurrence in the right side of chest 2)Pain usually just feels like pain in chest..
But mostly on the left side....not the ones in the upper middle chest and throat that FREAK ME OUT. Neuro came in and told me he viewed everything and EKG for all 3 days was fine. I told him I didnt get the BIG ONES so it wasnt "captured to evaluate" and he said "doubt they are cardiac though". My GP called this afternoon, holter came back NORMAL OUTside of A FEW PVC'S BUT DONT THINK THAT EXPLAINS ALL THE SYMTOMS. NEED TO START THINKING ANXIETY OR GASTRO.
It is in the left pectoral, kind of in the middle, upper right side of left pectoral. Sometimes I also get chest pains on my left side or neck stiffness as well. Mine started with what I thought was a pulled muscle after exercising on a gazelle. The pain started on the left side at the base of my back and right above my butt cheek. That pain has become so severe that I am now having difficulty walking, sleeping or sitting. No amount of repositioning or medications has helped. The closest I come to any relief is sleeping in a papasan chair.
Hoped that would take away the pain but no. Have tight burning chest pain and have to crack my chest, left neck, left wrist. Went to hospital for feeling of heart attack. Normal results. Had endoscopy. Had tender point right beside belly button. Said I had gerd. Started on Prevacid. Now I'm loosing my hair. Not sure why. Thyroid normal. Pain and fatigue is so severe I feel like I can't go on. Drs aren't sure. Went to so many.
yet in the last 1 1/2 months, it has become full-blown, literally. upper/mid left side bloating, tightness, shortness of breath, yawning, heartburn, sloshing...and it's chronic now, regardless of what I eat or drink...24/7. It's worse when I am standing...I am just now learning how to deal with the anxiety attacks I get from it. It is a physical thing, for sure, not just in my head...I know I need to see a Dr. When it's at it's worst, I feel a lump, that moves around...
I struggle with chest tightness. I get left arm pain , upper back pain, depression now too. Weird head pain and it's all on left side. It's the chest tightness and shortness of breath I hate the most. I concentrate on taking deep breaths just to help calm down. Does anyone else go through this? If so how do you cope on a daily basis?
