I went to the doctor he examined my neck didn’t feel anything and he ordered a neck ultra sound and blood test I guess to check my thyroid. Both of those came back normal. Over the last 6 weeks I’ve been having some digestion problems… lose bowels movements… lots of gas ect…. (I am also prescribed 20 mg of Dexedrine).

I have had tightness in my throat and a "lump" sensation for 2 weeks now. The lump feeling has went away for the most part but there is still a lot of tightness in the front of my neck just below my adams apple area. I also have a good bit of discomfort in the back at the base of my neck. When it first started I felt that I could not breathe and was under a lot of stress because of the feeling. Just the slightest activity sent me into a panic attack.

EP doctor diagnosed it as left atrial tachy. I am 6 weeks post ablation and feel much better. Ablation seems to be succesfful but dr said there were a few more spots that could give me trouble later down the road.
This can cause pain along throat, a feeling of something in the throat, phlegm, and pain in mouth/tongue/throat due to the chemical burn caused by acid from the stomach. Treatment is a combination of drugs to reduce the acid and lifestyle changes.
on feelings of one moment I felt good next I fine bad, but didn't notice any irregularities in heart beat, shortly after I started have the chest tightness (not long, very brief like a quick tight then release, a couple of times it went to my throat and little in the neck area.I also found that either before these feelings or after I feel the need to burp and sometimes I did burp and other times nothing came out just the urge to.
I have been experiencing a sensation of a lump in the throat or tightness/pressure in my upper chest in combination with a pain in my back/spine at the same level of the feeling in my chest. This feeling has persisted for about 4 weeks. I don't seem to have diificulty breathing, although I do feel the sensation more when I breathe deeply. Could this be a respiratory problem? Does this sound like anything you've heard of?
For approxiamately one week when taking a deep breath, I have experienced a tightness and pain in my upper chest and throat area. When I drink cold fluids it subsides briefly and when I tighten my abdominal muscles and breath deeply, I don't feel the pain or discomfort. I have checked info on Thyroid, Heart, & Gall Bladder and can't find out what this is. I also experience fibrillations from time to time.
extreme pain in lungs and cough. Feels like intense squeezing on my throat and a big lump, and pressure in my stomach pushing onto my lungs. It feels like I need to let out a huge burp but if I try to push gas up it just hurts and a tiny gurgling sound comes out. Everything I eat and drink feels like its forcing open my esophagus. Even drinking water is painful and sometimes gets stuck and comes back up! Ive been prescribed antacids (prevacid, nexium) and the haven't helped.

my throat feels strange again. Like a lump in my throat. Pulmonary specialist isn't worrid about it - as I don't have trouble breathing and it doesn't hurt to swallow. I'm also take Allegra-D in the evenings and have been taking that for years and years. Pulmonary guy says to continue taking it. My throat actually feels better when I wake up in the morning. But as time goes on in the day - it gets worse. Nothing painful - just annoying and unnatural.
I also feel like I have a lump in my throat frequently, like there is a big ball of mucus like a plug that won't go down. After a while it goes away, but always comes back. Could this also be caused by thyroid??? Thanks so much for any help. I really don't know where to turn any more and I'm getting depressed. No docs have helped me (ENT says ILS/VCD, Gastro says relfux, Allergy docs says allergy to wheat/corn/oats/barley/apple/shellfish, asthma doc says stress induces asthma, of course!
"tightness feeling in [your] throat " can be from many reasons, this globus sensation that paulyK mentions is a good term for it. Anxiety, asthma, GERD acid reflux, foreign bodies, these need evaluation by your doctor.
I went on every RX for GERD there was and it never changed the feeling - in fact it brought on more problems - headache - nausea - and GI distress. But the something stuck in my throat still persisted. Then the tightness in the neck and chest started. AGAin acid reflex or GERD. After two years and dozens of trips to doctors and the ER rooms ( last visit at the ER a year in a half ago) I laughed at them in disgust with their push off of the GERD DX to send me on my way.
It began (about 3 months ago) with an occasional cough not related to any illness, and difficulty breathing - having to take deep breaths because of the feeling I wasn't getting enough air. Rapidly developed a tightness in the chest and was diagnosed with asthma. burning sensation developed in upper sternum, with a heavy sensation in my chest, occasional pains or numbness in right arm, and burning and tingling sensations on the insides of the shoulder blade.
About three or four weeks ago I went to the doctor complaining of a stomach and abdominal pressure and a tightness in my chest. He gave ranitadine 150mg to take in the morning and night, and then tums before meals. After two weeks things hadn't gotten better by much so he told me to take one ranitadine in the morning and one 20 mg omeprazole at night (just the generic kind, I'm pretty sure its 20).
I have a sensation that something is stuck in my throat, other times is feels as I have severe bloating right under my chest bone. I can actually feel the lump and nothing will relieve it unless I force my self to burp and that dosn't alway help either. Sometime I get pain in my chest and upper back. I have had a barium swallow, H-Pylori test and ultra sounds for gallbladder and liver function. All tests came back negative. I'm so miserable I have lost 15 pounds since Nov.
I think I have what Will3477 describes. There is a tightness under my jaw - almost like I've been chewing too much or something. There is also this sensation of something at the back of my throat that makes me want to gag. I have to swallow hard to make it go away and sometimes I feel like that feeling might be mucus piling up back there. The other day, however, I realized that it sort of feels like that lump in throat you get when you're about to cry.
Its not just a little tightness its like i can hardly breathe it feels like all my throat muscles narrowing to a point where i can only get a tiny bit of air. It kinda feels like a lump too, but a big lump. Sometimes I get it for a couple days in a row, other times just for 20 minutes. Sometimes SUPER tight where i feel like I will pass out but other times just a little tightness. Sometimes it lasts for long periods of time like a few weeks even.
It seems like it is almost a burp that has been stuck in my throat for years. I can't pinpoint the exact place, It feels like it is in the back of my throat/upper chest/lungs area. It is very pronounced and loud and i can't seem to get rid of it. Its gotten to the point where people can hear it across a room. I try drinking or eating something but that only makes it worse. It usually comes up at random times during the day.
Hi, I recently moved to Florida and appear to be suffering from allergies. People have told me that the new area may be what's causing the problem. Last year I got sick twice and both times people were saying allergies could've been the culprit. This year (in early January) I started with an itchy throat. Back in December I had a problem with my ears itching (I assumed they were just dry and used Mineral Oil to ease the itching).
Hi. For the past month or so I've been having this strange tightness under my left ribcage. As well as a "lump in throat" sensation. I do have pretty bad anxiety and im anxious and nervous all the time. I'm always worried about my health. I've been having SOME pencil thin stools. But they get thicker on and off, their is no blood in my stool and its a regular brown color. I don't have any pain in my abdomen just a very awkward "tightness" under my ribcage.
At the worst times it feels like there is a lump in my throat and pressure in my chest and I also get really painful hiccups sometimes, just one or two at a time. Another Dr. said it was just stress and honestly I think he thought I was making it up because it wasnt happening while I was in his office which wasnt helpful! The one time I want the gurgles... If anyone knows of anythign that actually works I would love to hear it!
I have difficulty swallowing food or tablets, food gets stuck in my throat and further down my chest, causing tightness, tablets get lodged in my throat and it is painful and it takes me some time to cough it out again. I have a pressure feeling in my throat and tightness in my food tubes. I am currently been treated for hppothyroidism and the doctor has put all this down to the thyroid. I hate eating and most times I will just have nutritional shakes and try to avoid food.
The globus sensation, tightness in the throat (which sometime extends to tbe upper chest near near the breastbone), and feeling like something is moving around in my throat are all continuing as severely as ever.
I feel a tightness in my neck and throat, almost as though my throat is swollen. There is a lump there all the time. So far all my test results have been normal and they can`t find my problem. The only medication I`m on now is Ziac for blood pressure. I have been on this about 2 years and I`m wondering if it could be the cause of all my problems? Please could you give me any information that could help me find an answer I would really appreciate any help. Thank You, Bob P.S.
