I think what you are referring you to is globus, the feeling of having a lump or ball in your throat, I think it can feel like a tight throat also. Not sure what causes it, I have had it occasionally, but if I remember rightly, it happens sometimes to me if I inhaled my food, you know or it could just be air from your stomach not escaping all the way, creating the feeling.
I have the same symtoms, lump in my throat, tightness in my chest, sharp pain and neck pain. It's been more than a month and I already did the Barium swallow and I was advised that it is GERD, I am taking Nexium but I still feel the symptoms and I am so worried...
HR would spike in 200s, elevated BP, SOB, chest pain, tightness in chest and throat, heavy lump in throat, flushing, weakness, tingling and numbness in legs and arms...pratcially every known SVT symptom all at once. EP doctor diagnosed it as left atrial tachy. I am 6 weeks post ablation and feel much better. Ablation seems to be succesfful but dr said there were a few more spots that could give me trouble later down the road.
They did an ekg on the spot (which came back normal), blood work which came back normal, chest xray which was normal, and urine test which was normal and I was sent home I then went to my doctor and he chalked it up to anxiety and prescribed lexapro (which I never ended up taking, scared of the side effects) the same thing happened in January of 08 (a few months later) and I called an ambulance, but I felt better immediately after they came then, I went to the ER again in February 08 with t
I have had tightness in my throat and a "lump" sensation for 2 weeks now. The lump feeling has went away for the most part but there is still a lot of tightness in the front of my neck just below my adams apple area. I also have a good bit of discomfort in the back at the base of my neck. When it first started I felt that I could not breathe and was under a lot of stress because of the feeling. Just the slightest activity sent me into a panic attack.
on feelings of one moment I felt good next I fine bad, but didn't notice any irregularities in heart beat, shortly after I started have the chest tightness (not long, very brief like a quick tight then release, a couple of times it went to my throat and little in the neck area.I also found that either before these feelings or after I feel the need to burp and sometimes I did burp and other times nothing came out just the urge to.
Your symptoms sound more like a bad case of gastric reflux, either due to acidity or lax esophageal sphincter or due to hiatal hernia (part of stomach forms a hernia into chest cavity). This can cause pain along throat, a feeling of something in the throat, phlegm, and pain in mouth/tongue/throat due to the chemical burn caused by acid from the stomach. Treatment is a combination of drugs to reduce the acid and lifestyle changes.
Then I started getting some tightness In the base of my neck/throat and around my Adam’s apple. I went to the doctor he examined my neck didn’t feel anything and he ordered a neck ultra sound and blood test I guess to check my thyroid. Both of those came back normal. Over the last 6 weeks I’ve been having some digestion problems… lose bowels movements… lots of gas ect…. (I am also prescribed 20 mg of Dexedrine).
Then about a year ago, i noticed a hard lump on my chest on the left side..toward the center near my sternum. It was very sore, and just sort of poked out there. I talked to a surgeon i knew at the time, and he said that it was probably costchondritis (i think thats how you spell it) ...but i still don't really know what it is so...yeah. It doesn't make me nerovous or anything..i have learned to live with it. For the first few months i was nervous about it, but i eventually got over it.
Hello. I have been experiencing a sensation of a lump in the throat or tightness/pressure in my upper chest in combination with a pain in my back/spine at the same level of the feeling in my chest. This feeling has persisted for about 4 weeks. I don't seem to have diificulty breathing, although I do feel the sensation more when I breathe deeply. Could this be a respiratory problem? Does this sound like anything you've heard of?
They say mine comes down to the stress that i am under. My throat gets tight, kind of like there is a lump in it, or i need to swallow, or im going to choke and wont be able to breath. My doctor called it Globus. You can look it up on line and see what you think. Your heart pounding sounds like anxiety to. I have the same symptom in my panic attacks with this throat problem, also with feeling like a floaty feeling, tingling in my face and other symptoms.
It feels like a lump in the back of my throat, and feel like im not getting enoughair ,also i have a weird feeling from the back of my throat to the middle of my chest, almost like a numbing sensation or dry throat.I seen a doctor and was put on amoxacilin and prilosac but that still did not help, then he ordered a MRI and a barium swallow which showed nothing but a little acid reflux.still taking the prilosac but still have the same symptoms. Is there anything else you would suggest i do.

for the last 3-4 years i was diagnosed with gerd it seems everytime i go out and drink or have a few drinks i get really bad fatigue the next day and i feel very ill my chest gets tight and its hard for me to breath for a day or two any ideas of what this could be?
blood work, everything normal. They gave me Advair which I took for 3 months. The advair immediately reduced chest tightness and chest related 'feelings' - however - once those feelings went away, my throat started feeling strange/stressed. At this point - I went to a pulmonary specialist. He prescribed Singulair and stop taking Advair. My throat was good for a bit and the Singulair helped with other symptoms I've always had (long history of allergies, etc). But now...
I went on every RX for GERD there was and it never changed the feeling - in fact it brought on more problems - headache - nausea - and GI distress. But the something stuck in my throat still persisted. Then the tightness in the neck and chest started. AGAIN acid reflex or GERD. After two years and dozens of trips to doctors and the ER rooms ( last visit at the ER a year in a half ago) I laughed at them in disgust with their push off of the GERD DX to send me on my way.
I have had a similar problem for about 2 years. It started very suddenly. My throat feels very tight and my chest feels heavy. The worst part is that it hurts to speak. It gets to the point where i will go days without saying anything. I have been to an ENT, has 2 rounds of voice therapy, had a laryngoscopy, and some procedure where there puffed up my vocal cords with some material so that they would vibrate better. None of it helped. Now im going to a GI to get an endoscopy done.
Too much smoking or being in enviroments with alot of smoke can trigger off, lump in the throat, breathing issues, excessive mucus, and tight chest. Hope you discover answer soon, and feel better. Good luck !!!
My question is what do you think this may be, is the pain in the chest related to the lump feeling in throat and what about the nodules? I know the cat scan and further testing is needed but until I can get insurance or some sort of assistance I would like some sort of direction.
Whatever would clog up my breathing would come back. And it would feel like my chest is really tight. I would keep coughing but then it would make my body itch...for some reason. Today, I was having a friendly spar with a few friends. After a few minutes, I made a wheezing noise and coughed. The cough sounded wheezy too. I felt very short on breath. I breathed in and out trying to suck in oxygen but it felt like I was holding my breath.
My throat is very tight and I feel a lump sensation, especially when swallowing, right below the adam's apple. It always feels like there is mucus in my throat and am constantly trying not to clear it (which is tough). BACKGROUND INFO/HOW IT HAPPENED Almost 4 weeks ago, after singing for a rehearsal, my throat felt a bit tight. The next morning I could tell that something was wrong as my voice seemed weaker and my throat seemed constricted or tight.
I have been on the meds for 6 months now, and about a month and 1/2 ago, I began developing extreme tightness in my throat like a choking feeling, pill stuck-feeling, tightness in the back of my neck and sternum. My general practicioner had me see GI doctor, who found minor constriction in my esophagus by conducting an upper endoscopy. I had a followup ultrasound of my thyroid indicating the same findings as the previous except additional growth (+1mm) in some of the cysts.
I have difficulty swallowing food or tablets, food gets stuck in my throat and further down my chest, causing tightness, tablets get lodged in my throat and it is painful and it takes me some time to cough it out again. I have a pressure feeling in my throat and tightness in my food tubes. I am currently been treated for hppothyroidism and the doctor has put all this down to the thyroid. I hate eating and most times I will just have nutritional shakes and try to avoid food.
Am developing a frog-like feeling in my throat, with frequent burping. My chest feels very tight an heavy and most times I feel like I'm going crazy. There is always a need to hold my chest or lift my breasts up for relief (but I can't very well do that in public.) Still the occasional need for deep breaths and very occasional cough. The doctors seem to be coming up with nothing. Is there anyone who can help with this?
Hi, I recently moved to Florida and appear to be suffering from allergies. People have told me that the new area may be what's causing the problem. Last year I got sick twice and both times people were saying allergies could've been the culprit. This year (in early January) I started with an itchy throat. Back in December I had a problem with my ears itching (I assumed they were just dry and used Mineral Oil to ease the itching).
The lump sensation is not bad in the AM however by PM and evening my throat gets so tight and lump feels larger that I have no choice but to take the ativan which helps alittle. At times it feels like my tongue is swelling! Since I've had all these tests done and everything is normal these Dr's are thinking I'm nuts however I feel the lump not them!! Glad to hear I'm not the only one with a lump problem I actually thought somedays I was going nuts. Let's hope that Dr.
I have a sensation that something is stuck in my throat, other times is feels as I have severe bloating right under my chest bone. I can actually feel the lump and nothing will relieve it unless I force my self to burp and that dosn't alway help either. Sometime I get pain in my chest and upper back. I have had a barium swallow, H-Pylori test and ultra sounds for gallbladder and liver function. All tests came back negative. I'm so miserable I have lost 15 pounds since Nov.
