Also, I do not believe I have Kidney stones as the flank pain is the only pain I have. My kingdom for anyone who can figure out what 2 ER's could not.
A related discussion, <a href="/posts/Dogs/Kidney-failure/show/2205581">Kidney failure</a> was started.
i have had no signs of urinary or bladder infection..but my lungs are now starting to feel a little sore? and my lower right side back pain is still the same?
When I was 7 months pregnant I was rushed to emergency with severe left flank pain. It was determined that I had kidney stones. Approximately 2 years later, it happened again, only on the right side. There was blood in my urine, my white blood cell count was elevated, and severe pain again. An ultrasound found imflamation, thus my doctor determined I had an infection and was prescribed antibiotics. However, I still have mild (throbbing/aching) flank pain on my right side.
Kidney stone pain is often associated with low back pain and abdominal pain. Kidney stones, especially those in the left kidney, can also cause significant amounts of nausea and even vomiting. As the stone moves further down the ureter toward the bladder, the pain often radiates in the groin and genital areas. In men, the pain may radiate to the scrotum. In women, the pain may radiate to the labia or even the vagina.
Could your kidney pain be from a kidney stone? The ER doc put you on antibiotics? So maybe it is an infection and may take time to clear up with the help of antibiotics? Also, know that stress can really aggravate endo symptoms and make it flare up. I got a new job last year that was very stressful and my endo pains went shooting up. You're stress may also affect your monthly cycle making your period late or early... but endometriosis also does that on its own too.
I have been in a lot of pain and having pain in my chest and still have nerve pain going down my left side finger tips to my feet...still having a low temperature of 98.9 to 99.9....if the biopsy comes back good then she wants to do ablation in my endometrium area. I have heard horrible story's about getting ablation of my uterus, because they ended up having more pain and bleed outside of the uterus..They end up getting a full hysterectomy...
Blood in the urine- causes can be urinary tract infection, infection in the kidneys (which can also cause flank pain), kidney or bladder stone(s), interstitial cystitis, enlarged prostate, diseased kidneys, cancer, and more... so it's a positive your doctor is referring you to the urologist. Have you taken any steps to reduce your cholesterol level- dietary, exercise, prescribed medication? If so, what are you doing to get it down to normal levels?
I have had severe chest congestion, a sharp pain deep in the center of my chest, it causes shallow breathing because it hurts to breath in and causes a severe cough attack. This has returned 3 times now in the past three months. The first time I came down with this, I went to my primary care dr.
Hello im new in her My name is Roosevelt and I have what’s called Pericardidis, I have been feeling weak for a few months, low energy and this stabbing pain in my chest and under my ribcage (where my heart is) has been bothering me. It's weird because the pain travels from one side of my chest to the other. Every year this flares up and I have to pay a ridiculous co-pay to be seen by a Doc, and every year they say there’s nothing they can do but give me ibuprofen.
It could be growing pains. Have you felt cramping during exercise? That could be the cause of it, most likely a natural cycle. You should confirm with your doctor why you have the RSV virus, kidney infections and get your answers on how to prevent any future pleasantry's.
I didn't have any problems for awhile, when I was around 15 I occasionally got some pain. I'm 95% sure I get kidney stones and it always seems to be on the right side. Or maybe it's something else with the exact symptoms of stones. I get that kind of pain about once a year. On a daily basis though, I have discomfort now. I just turned 21. It's been gradual and I only started to really think about it recently.
But my symptoms have been getting worse and last night laying on my side I felt a pain which seemed to expand from my kidney area and was very painful, in my mind I was thinking I need to move out of this position fast but could not move my body took everything I had to move and then pain subsided very strange and scary. Almost like a momentary paralysis (I've had this in the past without the pain) also felt like 2 lumps or spot like areas of pain in lung or kidney area when first awoke.
Some doctors say it is reflux disease, I am taking prilosec for acid control. And I still have chest pain, elbow pain, left feet pain and calf pain. With palpitations a little bit better I am taking Valeriana Root Drops ( it is european medicine provides better sleep and relaxes), Valeriana drops is a harmless (if taken as says on the bottle) as all it is a natural root extract. Before I start taking it I was waking up at night from my heart pounding and severe palpitations.
A urinary tract infection is the one problem that would explain both back and kidney pain along with burning when urinating. Your back pain could be pain referred from your urinary tract. You should be examined for a urinary tract infection and treated for it.
The pain is a stabbing/aching pain. I was told that the pain might be from my kidney, but know doctor so far is sure of that. Do you have any idea what this could be? and do you think I should see a Nephrologist?

I was seen by a Urologist who concluded that my pain was not kidney-related. I was sent home with a week's worth of Tramadol, antibiotics (no tests ever showed UTI) and anti-sickness tablets.
I had a kidney infection last year. Is the pain you are experiencing greatly around your lower back? because this is where your kidneys are, and this location of pain suggests kidney infection, but you will also probably feel nausea brought on by the kidney pain. The pain was so bad i could not sleep at night the first time i felt it and went to doctor right away.
Hi there, I can confirm the exact cause only after a complete medical history and clinical examination. If the pain is originating in the chest wall on the left side of sternum it is most mostly due to costochondritis. In this condition the pain increases on taking a deep breath or coughing. Pain from kidney problems typically occurs in the flank region, which is located in the lower back just below the ribcage. Any sprain or injury can also lead to such type of pain.
along with that i get flank pain (pain in the middle area of my back) that feels like a toothachy pain. that usually lasts for hours. that comes and goes, but usually lasting for a week or two, then stops for another week or two. And ive always had alot of fatigue and occasional dizzyness. i get a feeling of weakness quite often. i cant stand for long periods at a time without feeling weak or dizzy. I get alot of nausea as well.

A 1/4 of one of my kidneys is also not functioning due to a really bad kidney infection when I was 5. The kidney doc is the one who referred me to the cardiologist and another rheumatologist, he says both are really good. I am currently only taking amitriptyline to help me sleep at night, though it's not working. But I've also been on tylenol, ibuprofen, aleve, neurontin, vicodin, darvocet, percocet hydrocodone and tramadol none of which take the pain away anymore.

Hi! I have had fairly constant chest pain for the best part of a month. It started randomly one morning, the entire right side of my chest felt like something was pushing from the inside, I would get random twinges of pain in my right shoulder blade and down my arm, and there was intermittent numbness in my right arm. For those few days, I was so tired I could barely stay awake at work, I had to sleep almost sitting up because it felt so heavy, and even the thought of eating nauseated me.
I was continuing to have gastric issues and was tired of experiencing an upset stomach. About a week ago I awoke at around 11pm with some mild chest pain. Not crushing or tight, more like sharp cramping. I got worried that I was experiencing some symptoms of panic attack so I went to my cabinet and grabbed at 75mg Effexor tablet and took it. Three hours later I awoke with a very rapid heart beat, and intense ringing in my ears. I ignored and continued with a dose the next night.
You mentioned that your dog was given antibiotics...do they think that perhaps the high blood values are due to an infection...and not kidney related...? You may want to have his blood values checked again, a week or two after the antibiotics are done, and you have been doing SubQ's. Long story short....you may be able to lower his blood values, and he may be able to live comfortably for months to a year or more. All dogs are different, and respond to treatment differently...so...
