Is a congested chest with productive cough ARS? Also, what is the definition of dry cough?
I tried to live with the annoying sinus congestion, eye irritation, cough and chest congestion because I too couldn't find anytime that helped. Within 4 months of allergy shots almost all my symptoms are gone, I can even get cat hair in my eye without having it red and swollen for days. The other things that can help are a very good mattress cover. I got mine from achoo-allergy.
This past week, I have been experiencing chest congestion and coughing up greenish phlegm but have no cold symptoms. Am asthmatic but has been under control for many years. Even though still taking Singulair and Advair daily, have been having shortness of breath and am very tired. Am also using Proventil which I rarely use and it's barely making a difference. Even something as simple as turning from side to side in bed is leaving me breathless.
However, the weird part is, I really have no cough, and the occasional cough has never brought anything up. In the past, if my chest begins to feel this way, it is followed by the painful cough and coughing stuff up. I would not call what I have sometimes as pain, it feels more like irritation. When I am active, as well as when I drink a lot of water, it seems to be much better. Sit in front of the tv and the next thing I know I have a glob sitting in my throat.
When I do I feel a wheezing in my low throat and I begin to cough, but I am not coughing up any mucus. I have been to a Dr. and he has me on an antibiotic and suposedly something for congestion. He said I have a sinus infection, but this is the third week I've been sick like this and I'm just not getting better.
Any cough present for 3 months or less is considered to be an acute cough; one often due to an acute infection or an acute allergic reaction. A cough that lasts longer than 3 months is designated as a chronic cough, such as the cough caused by smoking, chronic bronchitis, chronic postnasal drip, asthma or chronic acid reflux. The first step to controlling or eliminating your cough should be, to determine the cause of the cough and then apply the appropriate therapy for that cause.

For about a year now I have had a cough and chest congestion, my doctor has switched my asthma medications several times thinking that might be the reason for my cough and congestion, she's tried many different types of allery medications, I have been to the pulmonologist, had a chest x-ray and nothing was found, but the cough and congestion I still have.
I had what I thought was a cold for a few days stuffy nose sore throat but now my chest is all congested and its kinda hard to breathe sometimes especially after doing something. I've been coughing for three days straight been taking an expectorant but haven't had too much luck yet... I think i'm running a fever not super high though... and I just feel super tired all the time...Any idea of what I can do to feel better?
For the past 3 weeks I have had a constant cough. Everytime I cough I cough up phlegm. Sometimes it's clear and sometimes a darker yellow or light greenish yellow. I even have to cough when I laugh. For the past 2 days my nose has been stuffed up and my head feels stuffy. I am also having a lot of headaches for the past week and a half. I don't know if these are allergies or a severe cold. I also do not smoke so it can't be from that. When i start coughing sometimes I can't hardly stop.

I have had a chest congestion for over 3 months. I feel OK but I've had a cough that sounds like I have liquid in my lungs. I've been to the doctor 3 times. 1st time they gave me antobiotics. 2nd time they gave me a different antibiotics, some steriod and 2 different inhalers 3rd time a chest xray and more antobiotics. Nothing has helped. The cough is worse in the morning, but is still bad throughout the day at times. I'm 39,not overwieght, reasonably healthy and I don't have any alergies.
I have this tightness in my chest i kno its mucus but i dont have a cough or cold it hurts when i try to take a deep breath ive never had chest congestion before im not coughing up blood or anything like that. ive been using my asthma pump because when i was younger i had trouble with asthma it helps clearing my airways so i can breath easier but it comes back after awhile. Have had chest congestion and mucus draining down my throat periodically for last couple of years. At some point I lose my voice as well. Is this an allergy? This discussion is related to chronic sinus congestion, plugged ears, chest congestion, coughing.
I have severe chest congestion. This has been going on for about 3 months. It's strange because I will have constant congestion and cough one day and the next day I will be almost clear. I know that if I have congestion one day the next day I will not. I plan my days accordingly. My dr. has put me on antiboitics and presidone twice in the last 3 months, I've had a chest x-ray last week, shows nothing. I have had allergies all my life.
Is a Hacking Cough with sounds of congestion in the upper chest typical of COPD? My mother for the last month would expel white colored globs of mucus periodically after a few minutes of coughing. She has no fever nor loss of appetite. Her geriatrician tried Azithromycin 500mg tabs for 5 days which seemed to help but then the coughing and globs returned. The doctor then doubled her Pulmicort doseage in her Nebulizer for two weeks to see if that helped plus using Robitussin as needed.
Also, since you underwent radiation, this could be a side effewct of that. My husband was radiated in the chest area, and has since had much congestion to teh point of shortness of breath. His cancer is in remission, but teh radiation has effected his heart a bit, and teh mitral valve is leaking. After being treated for bronchitis twice, seeing his oncologist, and cardiologist, nothing showed up except for some fluid in teh lungs.
i have a deep cough, wheezing in my chest, sore throat, and i can barely speak. congestion, runny nose. can you help me out, the dr i went to basically said allergies but since going i have gotten worse and the meds dont seem to help.
My newborn ( 3.5 weeks) is congested and coughing, last night he was restless and today he is sooo tired, we wake him up to feed him, he takes the bottle but otherwise he won't eat unless prompted. This couldn't lead to anything worse could it, is it normal? Is there anything I can do to relieve his congestion?
11 days and still coughing.....hmmm....try the urgent care. Get the chest xray done and something for that cough dear.
Symptoms may include cough, back pain, chest pain, chest congestion, rapid breathing, shortness of breath, fever, chills, sweats, headache, weakness, tiredness, and a general feeling of discomfort and body aches. It is generally best diagnosed by chest x-ray in addition to a thorough physical exam. Treatment is based on the severity of your symptoms and the type of germ causing the infection.
Hello All, Thank you for reading my post. I have had horrible chest congestion, chest tightness, and a cough (both dry and productive, yellow and clear). I don't normally suffer from allergies, and was also tested for asthma (which was negative). I already did a course of antibiotics, z-pack, and have been on decongestants too. Nothing seems to help. This problem has persisted for 14 weeks now, and originally I though it would go away, but it just doesn't.
Did 2 complete antibiotic regemes... finally had a chest xray since I was still coughing and the doc cough hear congestion in both sides of mylungs. Three weeks later and I still have this night wheezing and sensation in the lower lungs which is loud enough to wake me... and my husband. Eventually, I cough and cough and sometimes produce a "plug" of mucus. This gives me relief and I can sleep. But the wheezing returns...
I had flu then i got chills and now my chest is congested and coughing with a viscous yellowish phlegm.
I ended up taking two antibiotics which ultimately cleared up the infection and green mucus, however not the constant cough, chest and nasal congestion. The mucus is clear and sometimes loose and other times I will cough it up and it seems to be chunky. I use my albuterol inhaler often due to not being able to breathe with the cough and congestion, I constantly feel that my chest is tight. I have also taken 2 more antibiotics hoping it would clear up but it has not.
