it's now wednesday and am still coughing pretty heavy....is there anything that can be taken safely while pregnant? i'm afraid to take anything. i have been drinking hot water, honey and tea and it helps very little. was going to buy halls or fisherman's friends but there's a warning for pregnant peeps to consult their dr...at first i thought it was my allergies but i guess not...my stomach and head hurt so much from it. hope im not getting a fever and that i'm not harming this lil guy...
I am suffering from a chest infection mixed with extreme congestion. I am asthmatic and prone to such infections. My doctor said it was important to clear this infection up and has prescribed me Zyrtec D and confirms it is safe for me to take. I am 16 weeks pregnant. I have taken 2 tablets and am extremely scared by all of the information I have now read on not taking Zyrtec D while pregnant.
I've been battling a sinus thing and I was told Sudafed but nothing more than regular Sudafed (no PE, extended release, etc.)and that if it became a full blown cold (chest congestion, cough, etc.) I could take Tylenol Cold but also just the regular version. Hope you get to feeling better!
i think there will be some who may say tylenol is okay? however i was JUST like you are and paranoid about what to take. i too had a NASTY cold while pregnant and honestly, i just let nature take its course and "dealt with it" i was too afraid something would happen. i even called the dr. to see if i could drink a hot herbal tea. even certain teas are a no no.
at home lay your head back and pour a few drops of saline and stay in that position for 5-10 minutes to let the saline work its way, take a hot shower before going to bed and use a shower pill (don't know the name but it's menthol and you put in on the tub while shower), use a Breath Right thing over my nose to expand my nose and let me breath better during the night, and finally put an ice bag over my eyes and nose (that's where really hurts) to fell asleep.
i then thought it was in my head n i didnt tell anyone that i was in pain so i kept it my secret but the pain never went away so i had to go back they tried birthcontrol n nothing helped. then got pregnant while trying the pill when i was 22 i had so many pains wit that pregnancy that i ended up haveing her at 8 months they thought i had a ugr pregnancy. so for a few years after i had my second kid the pain was so bad i wouldnt want to have sex n it was puttin stress on my marriage.
The antibiotic did clear up the pneumonia (no x-ray was done) and I felt much better, but I could still feel that congestion in my left lung. I was still pregnant so I did not pursue it. Well, just a couple of weeks before I had my daughter, I got sick again with an upper respiratory infection. The doctor prescribed the same antibiotic and I finished the antibiotic while in the hospital after having my daughter.
About 6-7 months ago I developed (as if overnight) extreme sinus congestion. Usually my nose is completely blocked up around the clock, especially in the morning. Blowing my nose tends to do nothing, except for the rare occasion that while standing in a hot shower I can get a bit of gunk out now and then. I also have had extremely red chapped lips ALL the time. My family physician did blood tests to test for vitamin deficiencies and found nothing out the ordinary.
Bed rest, drinking plenty of water and hot drinks such as herbal teas are often the best treatments for speeding recovery from chest pain. Inhaling steam can also help to reduce congestion and kill germs on contact – and is particularly beneficial for your age. Antibiotics or pain relievers such as paracetamol may also be prescribed for pain .
A topical preparation such as Vicks VapoRub is generally safe and may provide relief of chest congestion. Plain Robitussin (guaifenesin) is also generally safe during pregnancy for relief of chest congestion (make sure the liquid does not contain alcohol). Prior to initiating any therapy while pregnant, you should always contact your physician.
Hi all. I had an ablation 4 weeks ago and since that time I have been experiencing chest tightness, pressure, and sharp pains in the heart. I am seeing my doctor on a weekly basis to determine the cause and undergo treatment. Following a work up of tests (echo, nuclear stress, ekg, etc.) the doctor has determined that everything in the heart is normal and that this "discomfort may be something that I just have to ride out.
I also have a little chest congestion that seems to make me cough in the evening hours. My teeth actually hurt worse than anything right now! I don't even want to eat and I can't have hot drinks because I also have rosacea. I am a mother of two toddlers and attend online classes for my school. I am so busy all the time and can't concentrate as well as I used to. I just took some Ibruprofen, about 800 mgs..does anyone know of any other solutions at this point?
I am 11 weeks 6 days and have the worst head cold, I have a severe headache, sore throat (itchy), runny nose, ect. I get so bad at night that when i wake up in the morning I just throw up snot. Its miserable on top of nuasea already. and can't take anything for it. When I was congested while pregnant I used Vick's salve. You just rub it all over your chest and neck. It is kind of stinky, but it really opens you open. It helps with a cough also. I believe my doctor also let me use benadryl for a runny nose. You need to double check on that one. I am sure that the Vicks medicated chest rub won't hurt you though. Hope it helps.
all my symptoms that started 8 years ago started with unequal pupils while pregnant with my son. that's why i've contacted chiari care center. unequal pupils and POTS are symptoms of chiari. Chiari is a skull bone malformation that presses on the cerebral tonsils which puts pressure on the brainstem....thus all the crazy symptoms. i just want answers.
Keeping your dog on a low fat diet will help a lot while you are going through this as well. Often, the combination of the draining of the chest fluid, the use of the Rutin and the low fat diet will help the condition to resolve. Talk to your vet about it. Ask as many questions as you need to until you are satisfied. If you feel that your vet is not answering your questions to your satisfaction, get a second opinion. Please keep us posted as to how your dog is doing. Good luck!
Lie down in the bathtub, turn the water as warm as you want, and point the shower head AT THE WALL (obviously you can't take hot baths while pregnant, so make sure the water is on the wall) it will cause the steam that you want, and if you close the drain in the bathtub you can let the water fill up a little and keep you warm (by the time the water travels down the tile into the tub it's not too hot to bathe in, at least in my experience) and it's a very relaxing, helpful way to clear your sinu
told me that I could'nt get pregnant. Over a year later, I am pregnant and scared to death. I have been reading up on ablation, and have came across nothing but "you should'nt get pregnant after an alation, because it's high risk for the mother and baby". I do not know how far along I am, but I believe about 4 mths already. I go to the dr. on Monday, but I was wondering has anyone heard of someone having an ablation and then getting pregnant and everything turned out great.
If you catch anything, cold etc, it is going to be harder on you during the pregnancy to get rid of, especially possible chest congestion due to the extra burden on your lungs. Having stated that I know it is not easy to quit otherwise nobody would smoke after a while! What you MUST do if you cannot quit is to put yourself on a STRICT diet of no more than 6 per day. Do not suppliment with gum or other nicotine. I know this is going to be an unpopular answer but it is an honest one.
What are the chances of getting pregnant again so soon? I have been having sex. I'm not sure, nobody bothered to explane to me the chances of me getting pregnant again.

Gross as it sounds, you'll be relieving the gas congestion in your chest, and the relief will be almost immediate. The embarrassment of being somewhat ill-mannered by necessity shouldn't override removing the gas, and the pain, out of your system. Homeopathic Remedy This remedy has been around for a long time. Add a few drops of peppermint, ginger, or cinnamon extract to a glass of water, and drink it.
Simple question here, has anyone ever had a negative blood test and negative urine test and went on with their daily routine and a month or so later found out you were in fact pregnant while having ultrasound done. If this has happened to anyone or perhaps someone you know, please respond, I'd appreciate the information. Thanks.
I am 30 weeks pregnant and suffering from nasal congestion, cough and chest congestion- any recommendations for safe meds while sick?? Thank you in advance.
My doctor told me I could take regular mucinex from my chest congestion and Robitussin for my cough but he didn't say anything about my runny nose. I am very worried about taking this medication. Is it ok?
Robitussin-no effect, although if you get anything other than the plain Robitussin for Chest Congestion it can dry up CM Tylenol-no effect-it is one of the few things you can take safely Ibuprofen-This doesn't affect the egg, but you should not take it while trying to get pregnant or pregnant Claritin-This is another one you can safely take. So you are okay.
i have severe asthma and horrible chest congestion that im throwing up the mucus at this point
