You can also put in a corner of the room a bowl of hot water with some Vick in it so as to allow the steam vapours into the room to help him breathe. If you do have other children, do make sure that they cannot reach the bowl of water. Keep the baby warm and offer a warm diluted baby juice drink or just plain water. The doctor may also prescribe a baby pain relief medication in suspension form to help reduce any raised temperature. Best wishes.
I wouldn't have thought the the low thyroid would cause chest pains. This is likely be to be congestion, asthma, muscle problems. What did your doctor reckon it was?
Good Morning Tramadol Warriors! Welcome. We're so glad you found us! You can do it. Please make yourself at home and snuggle down. It will be a bit bumpy, but worth it!
I would recommend you first try non-pharmacological treatments such as breathing steam, or keeping a vaporizer in the room. A topical preparation such as Vicks VapoRub is generally safe and may provide relief of chest congestion. Plain Robitussin (guaifenesin) is also generally safe during pregnancy for relief of chest congestion (make sure the liquid does not contain alcohol). Prior to initiating any therapy while pregnant, you should always contact your physician.
her nose is super stuffed up and i can hear her weezing in her chest with my stethascope.. she couldn't sleep last night because everytime she would lay down she would get the mucousy stuff in her throat.. I tried to prop her head up with pillows but she kept sliding off = ( shes 16mth.. she slept in bed with us last night and it was just terrible.. is there anything i can give her?
That seemed to make my son a lot more comfortable when he was sick. For the congestion you can try turning on the shower and steam up the bathroom and just sit in there with her for a little while until you hear her chest clearing up. Vicks also helps. I think they have children's vicks, it's not as intense.
Tuesday I started with a stuffy nose and post-nasal drip, then on about Thursday/Friday it developed with some chest congestion. I don't feel the need to cough, but every now and then I'll cough up a small little bit of green sputum. Along with that yellow/clear mucus is coming out of my nose. I am in the military and the hospital on base does not have an ER room/sick call and I can not go downtown to the ER unless it's an emergency.
So make sure you are well hydrated. For the congestion, you can try steam inhalations. A bowl of hot water with Vick or olbas oil and a towel over your head and breath in the steam. Take care not to get scaleded. Wishing you a speedy recovery Best wishes.
That might help loosen up some of the congestion. Also do the humidifier with the vapor menthol stuff in her room. Just don't let it get too fumey. Keep her nose cleared out as best you can, which is almost impossible with a 6 month old, and just try to comfort her. she may gag and cough up some major goo, just help her clear it out with a wet wash cloth. give her some water to help wash out her mouth, too. milk makes it gooeyer, which is unfortunate.
On 7th Feb 08, after a 2 hours gym session, aggressive abdominal training, 30 minutes steam room session. Got home, just about to get in bed strike by a sudden onset of SOB, shortness of breath, condition remain unchange for 48 hours. First 48 hours condition description: Each time i try to lie down, just at the moment of going into deep sleep i stopped breathing. I find it hard to breath when lie down, have to stack up 3 pillows, also have to sit up every few minutes to gasp for air.
The blocked nose may mean some swelling of the nasal mucosa, and one can expect such swelling to affect the eustachian tube (the ventilation tube to the ear from the upper throat) as well, and hence 'deafness' in that ear. They are reversible. And there is no room for worry. In the meanwhile, you can do some steam inhalation. An ENT can find out what exactly is wrong with the nose and ears and the neck and face nodes. You may mention the 'cold chills' to him for his thinking.
I'm on Zyrtec, Singulair, Benadryl, Advair, Flonase, Astelin, Mucinex and STILL have drainage and chest/nasal congestion. Feeling rundown and tired and want to get over this. This is the second time I've been through somethine like this in 2011. Any advice would be appreciated.
We've used Rhinocort in the past and it seemed to help. Continue with the humidifier, hot steam, vapo rub on chest, etc. Every little bit will help. Best of luck.
Though the cool mist will help with sinuses/nose, the steamy bathroom will help with congestion/chest. She should be better in a few days.
I got him up went in the bathroom turned the hot water on and we sat in there for the steam. He fell asleep on my chest so we went in the living room and he started the wet chocking not being able to breathe thing again. This kept going on and on. He was hungry so I fed him and when I was burping him he completely stopped breathing and his face was pure panic. So I took him to the emergency room where they said he has reflux and to go to his normal doctor.
So I took my DD to the docotr yesterday due to severe chest congestion, she also has a very runny nose and a fever. Well he did a nose swab on her because he thinks she might have RSV. HAs anybody out there experienced with any of thier children or know of somebody who has. I am still waiting for the docotr to call with the results but she seems to be getting worse. I looked some onfo on the internet but you guys on here are so informative so I thought I would ask.
I've been using the suction bulb on her nose and i take her into the bathroom every night before bed to steam and suction out as much as i can before we go to bed. She isnt wheezing that i can hear if i put her chest to my ear. Is there anything else i can do to help her congestion? She gets all stuffy and wakes herself up when she's napping and sleeping at night when her nose gets really bad. She has her two week appt on Weds.
It is similar in feeling to when you are starting to get a chest cold sauna (only I have had this feeling for the last five months) or when you are in a sauna/steam room (which I have not been in years) . It started after using a humidifier regularly in the winter (wife and I were living in a basement suite which was musty too). We have since move into our newly built home and we don’t use the humidifier at all… and yet the symptoms persists.
Mine is little different because where ever I am at this smell stays in, my room , at work and in my car.. and the smell changes all the time it depends what I eat. I also get thursty If I dont drink water. I start to get a dry throat and mouth... If i drink anything else that is not water my breath gets worse.. please help!
For sinusitis, golden rule for chronic sinus congestion is steam inhalation. Inhaling steam from a bowl of hot (but not boiling water) may help to soften, and loosen, the build up of mucus in your nose. This will lessen the dizziness and nausea. So do it 2-3 times a day. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
I had no prior sinus or allergy problems of ANY kind. About 2 years after moving I started to experience extreme one-sided congestion when lying on my side. The congestion would clear completely but switch to the other nasal cavity if I switched the sides I was laying on. This of course led to me tossing and turning all night and never sleeping through the night. I went to a doctor numerous times over the next 3 years and tried lots of different meds but nothing ever really helped.
They told me to use a vaporizer and to get those Ocean drops or saline drops to help suck out the boogers. The congestion was all in her chest and took 5 weeks to get out. They never let me give her anything but Tylonel and Motrin and the motrin stopped when the fevers did. Formula does make it worse. Espeically when heated. Doctor told me at the time to get as much fluids down as possible it will help with the mucus. Pedialite is best. My dd went for 3 days just on pedialite.
Lastly, not breathing well through your nose can aggravate snoring or obstructive sleep apnea. Nasal congestion alone doesn't cause obstructive sleep apnea, but it can definitely aggravate it. If your palate and tongue structures are predisposed to falling back easily due to sleeping on your back and muscle relaxation in deep sleep, then having a stuffy nose can aggravate further collapse downstream.
much safer than prescription medications. If he has alot of congestion take him into a steamy bathroom with you for a while and the steam will help clear some of the mucus and let him breath easier.(not the tub, just in the room) good luck to you both, you are doing a good job trying as much as possible to help this little guy even when funds are really limited...
I hope you turn that corner soon and start feeling better . Have you ever tried Mucinex ? My son gets horrible chest and nasal congestion and this works so good at clearing him out .It sounds like you are doing everything you can to eradicate this so hopefully you will get a handle on it soon .Don't worry about cleaning your house right now .If it's like mine it will be there when you get to it .It is hard when you are sick and you still have the demands that our families can put on us .
If the thought of falling in the shower bothers you, you can also perform this technique standing on a towel next to the running hot shower or other source of running water, and wash the towel after you create a mess. In fact, hot running water is not essential to this technique—but the steam provided by the hot water helps loosen the phlegm and pustulence in your sinuses. 5.
I am tired of feeling bad. I have bad headaches lately I have hard cramps in my chest some but mostly in my stomach and right below my navel. the cramps get quite intense. leaves me sore for a couple of days. gine for a few days and then the same thing. no one thinks anything is wrong. the doctor did blood test said everything was fine. I was having weak spells and cold sweats so back my hair got wet and dripped on to the floor. I quit taking my Lipitor.
Since I did not want to rely on this medication, I resolved to find other ways to curb this problem, so when I experience this congsetion, I usually go to the steam room for about 10 - 15 at least two or three times within the week I am experiencing the problem, and this works pretty good for me. I have not been there for a while and today has been a nightmare for me with this mucus, so I have to visit the steam room this week.
