I have a cough producing clear phlegm, sinus congestion, a runny nose.... My cough wakes me up every night...I take a look at the watch, its 4AM...I blow my nose, drink water and try to elevate my pillow to prevent the postnasal drip. I have tried allergy medication, cleaning my air ducts in the house, cleaning and dusting even better than I already do... Nothing seems to work. Tried an all natural saline rinse, Nasonex, Claritin, Aerius, Never had any cough or problems before this summer.
I have had a chest congestion for over 3 months. I feel OK but I've had a cough that sounds like I have liquid in my lungs. I've been to the doctor 3 times. 1st time they gave me antobiotics. 2nd time they gave me a different antibiotics, some steriod and 2 different inhalers 3rd time a chest xray and more antobiotics. Nothing has helped. The cough is worse in the morning, but is still bad throughout the day at times. I'm 39,not overwieght, reasonably healthy and I don't have any alergies.
She has had a few ear infections within the last 8mos, given antibiotics each time--seems to knock it out temporarily, then gets another one. Now she has a consistant runny nose with a chest cough and conjestion. Her runny nose is clear/ very light green, so that's telling me she may have another ear infection, soemthings not draining properly. No fever.
It just seems so weird to me to have sudden heavy congestion in my throat and chest with no stuffy nose or other symptoms. As for the achy body, I think that's probably just from the violent coughing (so bad it makes me gag). I'm taking Mucinex now and tylenol for pain, and I'm feeling a little better. But how can avoid this in the future, and could this be a sign of something more serious?
After being on Copaxone for 3 months I developed difficulty breathing and severe chest congestion and it will not go away even after taking broad spectrum antibiotics. My dr. denies any connection with Copaxone. But it is the only thing that has changed in my life - taking Copaxone injections. Has anyone heard of a link.
It started with flu like symptons, tired, runny nose, headache,..then chest congested, then to doctor. I went through 5 days antibiotic. On fourth day got energy back. Still congested. Now, I find myself a week later around 6pm every day getting tired and getting cold forehead and light sweat (cold). and pins and needles, buring like sensation on back and legs. If I run hands fingers down leg, its like pins and needles...not painful, just weird feeling?? I still have congestion in chest too.
Hello there, I am a 21 yr old male college student and everytime I wake up, I have a ton of drainage in my nose and throat. I blow my nose about 30 times in the first 15 minutes that I wake up... the excessive snot/phlegm gets caught in my throat causing me to "hawk up loogies" ( I am sorry for the slang, I am not sure how else to say it ).
) I have nasal congestion with runny nose- this has gone on for a long time - at least a year or two- getting better then worse. My allergist says that I am allergic to dust mites, but I have done everything that I'm supposed to in my house and it's getting worse. When this gets bad, I get pressure in my ears and headaches sometimes. 3.) One more thing- I also get an acne like rash on my neck that has been around for 1 year. I thought it was acne and have had no luck clearing it up.
i have a deep cough, wheezing in my chest, sore throat, and i can barely speak. congestion, runny nose. can you help me out, the dr i went to basically said allergies but since going i have gotten worse and the meds dont seem to help.
My dog had same symptoms - congestion, sometimes slightly runny nose, eyes bulging and he also started turning his head sideways. Turns out his thyroid was not producing enough thyroxin. He's started thyroid supplements 2x day and he goes back to the vet in a couple more weeks for additional blood work. He doesn't turn his head sideways anymore except when going down stairs he does it alittle, but his eyes still seem 'poppy'. He's a young dober boy - 3 years old.
I only found it because he treated me for brochontis back in May, and I am still have breathing problems and a cough. I have a continual runny nose, sputum is productive but clear, sometimes I wheeze. The other day, I literally felt like I was having an asthma attack, but I don't have asthma. What should I make of this?
My lymph nodes (in the neck) are swollen - they hadn't really been before. My nose is runny while my sinuses are congested. My chest doesn't seem very congested, though - I have a dry cough from a dry throat which I"m trying to keep well moisturized while I drink orange juice and water.
I have had a constant stuffed nose for over a year now, maybe longer but I cannot remember. I have grass pollen allergy, but in that season my nose seems to be more runny and sneezing. Out of this season, my nose is almost completely stuffed. This is a problem because I get dry mouth always breathing through my open mouth.
My son is 3 months old and is congested with a slight runny nose. 2 weeks ago he was giving antiobiotics and a nebulizer. At first it helped but now he seems to be coughing more and he has a runny nose again and the snot is green which is a sign of infection right? He sounds like he is trying to hack up a nasty goober. Sorry of that is TMI but that is the best I can describe it. Is this normal?
Around 4-6 weeks ago I had the symptoms of allergies (congested nose, runny nose, headache, coughing). Since then the coughing has gotten worse and the congestion has spread to my forehead area. Then approximently a week ago I started tightness in my throat and chest, difficulty breathing when the tightness is occuring and burning in my ears. All of new symptoms happen once or twice a day, have lasted for as long as a hour and they all happen together.
i am so glad im not the only one! I watched a program the other night about brain fluid but I searched it up and its most likely to be a common sinus infection. PHEW!!!
This effect is added to prevent a runny nose, because adrenaline inhibits production of slime and saliva (we all get a dry mouth when afraid..) This works directly on your heart, increasing heart irritability, contractility and heart rate. Why don't you use a prescription antihistamine or antihistamine spray instead?
however, after the constant, initially hacking, but eventually crazy productive cough went away .... almost immediately as that slowed down I developed a stuffy/runny nose. Well, WITH that runny nose, NEW "cough" symptoms arose. The "cough" had definitely changed and was not the same "bronchitis cough" from before. It became LESS productive, but ....nonetheless, still productive if I coughed hard/long enough!

My 18 month old son has had a constant rattle in his chest along with a runny nose. We have been told for a year that it was allergies and gave him over the counter meds which did not work. I finally took him to an allergy specialist who tested him and said he has no allergies that they could find. Did a chest xray and he had mucous in his lungs along with a partially collapsed lung. Put him on steroids and antibiotics. It still did not go away so we went to a lung specialist.
It was an annoyance, but it was relatively mild and there was little congestion. It felt like there was something inside my nose pressing outward. The left side of my face also felt numb and tense. There was also pressure behind my left eye, which made the eye feel numb as well. About 8 weeks after the pressure started, it began to switch to the right side as well. I have no idea why it would start only on the left side for 6 weeks, then suddenly decide to switch to both sides.
this last episode of dripping came after a course of antibiotics for a chest/nose infection. the secretions were yellow now clear. allergies?
Like the original post noted, I had only the nose pain and swelling outside the nose, not inside. No nasal congestion, no clogged sinuses. Just a very sharp pain in the nose that seemed almost to be in the bone and cartilage, hurting mostly over the bridge and traveling down to the tip of the nose, as if my nose was broken. But I hadn't had any injury to my face. I've been on an antibiotic, Cephalexin, for 10 days and the pain is nearly all gone.
First I need to know how long you have been sparking up on cigs and second, this could be anything from chest congestion to emphysema, or anxiety, since i am a professional anxiety sufferer in my attacks i get Shortness of breath, cold, dizzy, and an extreme rush if fear, which i found now very EXCITING!
Sore throat, runny nose, stuffy head, congestion, and feels like a slight fever. I still have the chest ache, but it seems to be getting better as time goes by. Do i need to worry about the swine flu at all??? How do i know?? Please let me know what i should do, or a good way to treat this...thanks aaron.
allergy attacks: runny nose, sneezing, itching at root of mouth, itching eyes & nose betweens eyes. took claritin for allergies and stayed in air conditioning. mucus drainage has gone into my chest causing coughing and mild congestion-mostly in am and evening.
I have a variety of things going on here. I'll try to keep it as simple as possible. About 4 weeks ago I began to have a dry, unproductive cough that resulted in a dry/sore throat, as well as a hoarse voice. About 3 days into it, the cough became VERY productive. After about 2 full weeks, the coughing become MUCH LESS FREQUENT, but still there. In fact, I STILL have a cough (not NEAR as bad as before....but I still do have to cough).

I have also been sneezing and seem to have a bit of a runny nose. Should I just relax and take it as a bout of seasonal allergies?
Not breathing well through your nose can alter your heart rate and blood pressure, as well as to increasing your stress response. Your nose makes about 2 pints of mucous every day. If your nose isn't working properly and mucous isn't cleared, the stagnant mucous can lead to infections such as sinusitis or ear infections. Lastly, not breathing well through your nose can aggravate snoring or obstructive sleep apnea.
