When I do I feel a wheezing in my low throat and I begin to cough, but I am not coughing up any mucus. I have been to a Dr. and he has me on an antibiotic and suposedly something for congestion. He said I have a sinus infection, but this is the third week I've been sick like this and I'm just not getting better.
My newborn ( 3.5 weeks) is congested and coughing, last night he was restless and today he is sooo tired, we wake him up to feed him, he takes the bottle but otherwise he won't eat unless prompted. This couldn't lead to anything worse could it, is it normal? Is there anything I can do to relieve his congestion?
Never had the problems you all have mentioned until I took the drug Levaquin for chest infection. Should have gotten rid of it on my own. (herbs and old wives remedies) Trusted my doctor who trusts the FDA!!. The drug is poisen. Has caused me many more complications. Tendon problems in legs, leg pain, blurred vision and now constant congestion and nasal problems. Haven't been on an antibiotic in over 20 years and this is what happens!!!
But last month I suddenly developed a mild sore/ticklish throat and by the next day I was heavily congested in my chest. No stuffy nose, no fever, just horrible coughing and phlegm that was difficult to cough up. I also had very achy joints and bad headache. It took about 4 days to get over it, but I coughed for a month afterward. Just when I got over it, again: a couple of days ago I felt a tickle/irritation in my throat and now I'm feeling miserable again.
11 days and still coughing.....hmmm....try the urgent care. Get the chest xray done and something for that cough dear.
It usually radiates down the left arm. If the chest pain is due to chest congestion, then it is aggravated with coughing and movement. The constant coughing could cause muscle strain and chest pain. Sometimes the pleura, the lining of the chest cavity and lungs can get inflamed causing pain with coughing. Only a consultation with your primary care physician can help diagnose the cause. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Lots of clear fluids to help break up the chest congestion aswell, maybe even a warm wash cloth on his chest. My kids are very sensitive to laundry detergants and softners, so thats a possability. Has he had any immunizations lately? If so Id call his doc or ped. Could be a reaction. Aveeno Baby lotion non scented works VERY well for dry skin, I use it on myself and my children, I get the scent free one, and it hydrates for 24 hrs. Hope he feels better soon!
Youngest son and I both have bronchitis...that's what you get for kissing your kids I guess. lol Anyway, I can't take the garlic pills as I have issues with it. I have a bottle of Eucalyptus essential oil, but not sure of how to use it safely. Should I fill the sink with hot water and add a few drops? I was told that it could seriously harm my little guy. Oldest son picked me up a bottle of expectorant, but I have high blood pressure...so no go.
I have started with congestion..now I have a slight cough, but hurts my chest when I do. Is there anything you ladies can recommend in the meantime?? Thank you!!!
I have a raspy cough and chest congestion, I'm sure came from mold. I live DC metro and we had a verry, rainy spring. The trees in my neighborhood are bright green with mold growing on there trunks and my stairwell drain was clogged and my basement got wet. What can I do to get rid of this cough and ease the congestion. I would love a good old home or natural remedy, but any thing would do.
Halls are ok but ricolas are better. A home remedy I use for cough and congestion Is sitting in a bathroom with the steam from a shower and just taking regular breaths. It breaks up the mucus and relaxes your airway.
he only had a slight temp for a day. after that he seemed fine aside of a slight runny nose, and a minor cough once in a while. his dr said that theres nothing he can take for the common cold, and to just wait it out. i hear phlegm in his chest sometimes when he breathes. i found that tickling him makes him laugh histerically, which in turn causes him to cough. thats the only way the phlegm comes up. im wondering if theres anything i can do to eliminate it in total.
Can there be a medical reason for my constant coughing besides the usual suspects? Something that can be remedied surgically so I don't have to take the same useless medicines over and over each time I go to a new doctor?
If the secretions where too thick to break up before you took the antibiotic, then the medicine is working, it is breaking that congestion up, which will rattle more in your chest and you will cough more to get the serections out. Try taking OTC guaifenesin this will help with the thinning of secretions and make it easier to cough up the mucus that is in your lungs. Also drink plenty of water. If you dont feel better soon take to your md, also make sure your not running any fever.
i developed this nasty cough monday night and i have puked most of the night. it's now wednesday and am still coughing pretty heavy....is there anything that can be taken safely while pregnant? i'm afraid to take anything. i have been drinking hot water, honey and tea and it helps very little. was going to buy halls or fisherman's friends but there's a warning for pregnant peeps to consult their dr...at first i thought it was my allergies but i guess not...
My 5 year old son had a cough and congestion before that so I figured I had picked up on whatever he had. For the first 5 days all I had was the cough, then I developed some sinus pressure that went away after 2 days. Cough still there, not coughing up anything, just constant itching in my lungs. Then I started noticing a wheezing noise when I exhaled as far as I could.
) REMEDIES: Try Simply Saline to help with throat congestion, post nasal drip, reflux, etc. Squirt it all the way into your throat and then cough it up.
I quit Jan 2 2012. I also am suffering with a terrible cough and congestion. I read that this happens when you quit smoking, can last for a few months. Hope not, it's brutal. seems I felt better smoking.
Funny, I have had a persisitant cough with nasal congestion and phlegm production for over 8 years. The coughing began when I would eat anything that was scratchy, like breads, cereals, etc. I feel the mucous building, start coughing and sometimes vomit. Now, it happens anytime I have a tickle or brush my teeth or eat. It is always worse at night. This all began around the time I was in perimenopause. Some doctors have suggested drinking more water.
For nerves/anxiety try a spray of Bach's Rescue Remedy on the tongue (try it beforore just in case it exacerbates the coughing as my daughter has asthma and she says it tastes like sherry and makes her worse! And have a dscreet bottle of water close to hand if that helps (dbut try not to swallow it down the wrong way) I really hope that you have the wonderful day that you deserve and that this wretched coughing problem can be resolved sooner rather than later.
I have been sick, the whole nine yards with similiar problems and more. In addition, I had symptoms of a stomach virus first and some symptoms continue like the diarrea. The nausea is better except for the feeling of extreme hardened mucous in the throat that "needs" to come out. I am so exhausted as I have not been sleeping.
A year ago I was diagnosed with Whooping Cough. Since then I have had a terrible cough w/ yellow mucus. I have been to ENT, Chest Specialist and now onto a Pulmonologist. I have been tested for GERD(negative), Lung Function(Very Good),Hi Def.head, neck & Chest CT Scans (all okay). I take Prevacid (just in case of GERD that is not seen) and I do take a number of pain meds. due to a back surgery that didn't work.
hello I have recently taken my poor 8 yr old male Bombay, Shadow (aka Pnut or Doo) to the vet for an array of symptoms such as diarrhea, bumps on skin, sneezing, coughing, & difficulty swallowing. They gave him a couple of injections at the place & sent me home with some medication for his diarrhea. They wanted to do a chest xray, but I don't have the money for it. They suggested getting him on Imodium AD as well. His diarrhea is getting under control. However, I have a new issue.
I also have post-nasal drip, so it was a combination of things that was causing the cough, but once I got those things treated, the cough and the mucus went away.
The cough may be so severe that you vomit or turn red or blue from the effort. Fatigue. Nasal congestion or discharge. Sneezing, red watery eyes. Severe coughing can result in tiny red spots caused by ruptures in blood vessels at the skin's surface (petechiae) in your upper body, as well as small areas of bleeding in the whites of your eyes. You may even bruise or break a rib if your coughing episodes are severe.
I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out. The last one about 2 years ago stopped me breathing in and out completely for 10 to 15 seconds and I thought I had bought it.
Don't know whether it is Lipitor, Plavix, Coversyl, or Somac that is giving me the congested sensation around the chest-throat. Would anyone know what possible side effects these drugs might cause?
