Can Bronchiectasis result after just one run in with acute bronchitis that lasted about 3 weeks? I read that it can occur after recurrent infections, but I only had one...acute bronchitis. I ask this because after being diagnosed with acute bronchitis 5 weeks ago and having it for 3 weeks, my cough got MUCH MUCH better, but I still can hear/feel the "chest congestion" and purposefully cough to attempt to get rid of the phlegm in my lungs/chest.

It started off as a minor sore throat, nothing that really bothered me and a bit of a stuffy nose. Within two days both of those were replaced with chest congestion, tightness, and a wet cough producing green phlegm. Now its been about 5 days of wheezing and this cough i can feel the congestion deep down in my lungs. When i breathe i can feel the phlegm and mucus and i wheeze when i exhale. It is usually worse at night before i go to sleep. Im not quite sure If i should go see my doctor.

I have no health problems prior. I am wondering what it might mean, that I have absolutley no cough or congestion. I can feel pain pretty bad especially when I breathe in. I have had high fevers, chills, and all but NO cough and NO phlegm whatsoever. The Pneumonia was diagnosed on a chest xray. Does it mean anything if I simply do not cough and have no desire to? Doesn't that infection have to come out somehow?

The congestion could just be a leftover from the infection, it's your lungs trying to get rid of the dead bacteria. It may take a few weeks to clear. If it changes colour again or gets worse see a doctor.

I started to develop cold like symptoms, running nose, chest congestion, mild headaches, thought it would pass so I went out to do fall activities with friends in the cold, the cold got worse. i have a dry Dry throat and unable to sleep properly even after taking sleeping pill and also having gray Phlegm and sometime chest congestion. My respiratory doc say that the Phlegm and chest congestion is due to PEG so i have being prescribe foracort 400 and montair lc for 15 days. My Hepatology doc ask me to do Vit D test. I would just like to say, ive got this same thing at the moment, and the pain is tight and horrendous, i was given antibiotics for bronchitis, i also have tried steaming, but im very congested and cant break up the phlegm, maybe its the congestion causing this pain .. i just wish the pain would go away.Also my throat is very dry, maybe its a bad bought off flu?

I don’t have any other symptoms, no runny nose, no stuffy nose, no persistent cough, no difficulty breathing, no headache or fever or stomach problems. Other than my throat, I feel fine. So from what you’ve seen or heard, does this sound like allergies, a virus, an infection, or could it be something more serious? I tend to overreact to this kind of stuff, so I'm hopeful that it's just a common cold or allergies.

Man in been super congested for the last couple weeks but this week is the worst my voice will even go. The mucus is so nasty all yellow to a gross green and brushing my teeth involves throwing up ever morning till its all bile. Thanks for the reply. That was my first thought, but a recent chest x-ray supposedly ruled out congestion. I hope to see my doctor this week. I'll go armed with questions. :) I swear it feels like my heart is beating/struggling on the right side of my chest sometimes recently. been coughing for a couple of weeks little bit of fever very tired went to a walk in clinic a couple of days ago and the Doctor said it was mostly allergies gave me antibotics,congestion,cough syurp,nasal spray....this morning when I woke up I was coughing up blood in my phlegm the first 3 times then it cleared up....

I'm on the same boat I have been drinking lots of orsnge juice for vitamin c . Also eat lots of soup or warm up drinks like milk ect. For nose rinse your nostrils with warm water not too hot dont burn urself and try breathing in the steam usually opens nostrils. Or put vicks on ur chest n feet. Helps you breathe. And ur back too!

ALL OF A SUDDEN this evening my throat became scratchy, then I developed a cough and runny nose. After a few hours I could hear congestion in my chest. After a few cups of hot team with honey, lemon and a little brandy i spit up a greenish color mucus that eventually turned clear. Most of the rattle in my chest is gone, but my throat is sore and I do not have a fever. What is going on???
