I have this tightness in my chest i kno its mucus but i dont have a cough or cold it hurts when i try to take a deep breath ive never had chest congestion before im not coughing up blood or anything like that. ive been using my asthma pump because when i was younger i had trouble with asthma it helps clearing my airways so i can breath easier but it comes back after awhile. The mucus coming from chest is a creamy pale green. I also have constant mucus in my throat also of a creamy consistency but not as green and sometimes clear to whitish. I believe both of my lymph nodes in my neck are swollen and hurt. Ears are bothersome also. It hurts to touch my forehead around eyebrows and area around bridge of nose hurts also. Sinus pressure headache present. If I barely press on my eyes they hurt.
t think coughing and chest congestion is part of it. It is cold and flu season so maybe you have a cold? I could be wrong though.
If the mucus feels like its coming from the base of your chest then it suggests that the infection is quiet low down your respiratory tract. If you have been feeling more tired or weak this would be the cause of it because you would be unable to transpport enough oxygen to the rest of your body causing fatigue. If you do have a respiratory infection and you chose not to be treated by a gp then you run the risk of pneumonia which would land you in the hospital eventually.
It is day three, the congestion has turned into off in on congestion with a runny nose when not congested, a consistent cough with me trying to get the mucus out of my chest, to a dry cough.
After eating certain foods I get quite a bit of mucus build-up in my lungs and find myself coughing a lot after meals. I'm 17 years old and don't think this is due to acid reflux as I don't have any other symptoms and am quite young. I notice it immediately after I finish eating (not sure if it actually starts during eating as I'm not really focused on how my chest feels while eating). Hello all, for about a month now I have had a cough with chest congestion, sometimes it's productive, sometimes it's not, and I cough up green and yellow sputum. I also have nasal congestion and when I blog my nose it's green mucus. The symptoms actually seem to go away late night and return a while after I wake up. I have had no fever and no other symptoms.

A couple of days ago, I contract something outside and the next day, I began having serious chills, stuffy nose, chest feeling stuffy, etc. Then the next day, it got worse (and yes, I took medicine for flu/cold) with coughing up (I'm presuming) some bloody mucus several times (it's more like a rust color), dry coughing mostly, severe chest congestion (Robatusson {sp?} doesn't work), and severe congestion in my nose.
Did 2 complete antibiotic regemes... finally had a chest xray since I was still coughing and the doc cough hear congestion in both sides of mylungs. Three weeks later and I still have this night wheezing and sensation in the lower lungs which is loud enough to wake me... and my husband. Eventually, I cough and cough and sometimes produce a "plug" of mucus. This gives me relief and I can sleep. But the wheezing returns...
I had a cold from 02/17 - 02/26 and then I got another cold from 03/03 - 03/16. Symptoms of my cold were runny nose, cough and congestion. Every morning I would spit out green phlegm and afterwards it would be clear. So on 03/16 everything cleared out, no longer had any cold symptoms; although I was left with a cough, somewhat tight chest and short breath. There's no mucus, it's a dry cough and any mucus I spit out or blow out is clear.
I advise to consult with a doctor for testing to find cause, I know when I have chest congestion or post nasal drip, I'm always clearing tons of clear mucus from my system, feel like I'm drowning in mucus sometimes. But get checked out by a doctor, for proper diagnoses and treatments.
I guess what you really need to do is get a methacholine challenge test. If's a test used to determine if you have asthma. Or rather it's better for ruling out asthma. Then you know if you need to pursue further treatment for your symptoms. Yes I agree a cough that brings up mucous regularly can be residual effects from bad lung infections. I do have the same problem.
Breathing is never the same, unable to deep breath, dry cough, occasionally bring up mucus, occasionally bring up solid pale yellow mucus, chest tightness, lung feel congested, no wheezing but occasional crackling, have to push stomach out and retain it to get a full deep breath. Weight loss to date in 3 months time 7kg.
Other condition:
Air feel trapped under left rib cage, deep breathing move the air and gives bubble feeling. Pressing that area also make the air popping sound.
i feel breathing discomfort at night.. The chest pain is mild and I feel discomfort in general. Also I have a Nasal congestion issue for long time. I can feel that I have quite some amount of mucus in my throat. I dont have asthma but its in my family.,..
If you start to bring up green mucus with your cough or your chest hurts, go to the doctor as sometimes you can get a bacterial infection.
Antibiotics will not help a virus, but they will help if you have a bacterial infection.
I am on the tail end of mine and I have a persistent cough easing off now - it is now 4 weeks. But I did have a bacterial infection in the sinuses as well.

d and went to emerg and they laughed at me.. if you can taste infection its mostlikely a sinus infection.. whitch will cause chest congestion.. whitch will make you cough and your teeth hurt and your ears hurt and give you headaches.. lol if you dont have thoese symptoms it could be pneumonia.. if the mucus is orange or green and you have not yet gone to the doctor i would go.. if its yellow or light green its viral and they cant do anything take advil and try and sleep..
It started off as a minor sore throat, nothing that really bothered me and a bit of a stuffy nose. Within two days both of those were replaced with chest congestion, tightness, and a wet cough producing green phlegm. Now its been about 5 days of wheezing and this cough i can feel the congestion deep down in my lungs. When i breathe i can feel the phlegm and mucus and i wheeze when i exhale. It is usually worse at night before i go to sleep. Im not quite sure If i should go see my doctor.
Could you tell me please why sinus head pains are worse in the morning. I have had blocked nose, catarrh, & congestion along with head pains. The remaining symptoms are head pains which are worse on waking in the morning, I have seen my GP who gave me an examination & said my chest was clear, I revisited the GP I was given Carbocisteine 375mg which helped the catarrh to disperse, I mentioned the head pains on both occasions but no comment was made.
Hi, welcome to the forum, there are many reasons for congestion in chest. If you are having difficulty in breathing and congestion then may be a asthma. Asthma is an inflammatory disease of the airway and mainly arises from allergies. Hence you have allergy in past few days; there is release of endogenous histamine which causes bronchospasm and breathlessness.
Two weeks ago I was really sick - fever, body aches, chills, headache, sore throat, some sneezing, mild runny nose, and some heaviness in my chest. All the symptoms are gone, now I have some chest congestion and sinus drainage. But I still feel run down. I haven't been sleeping great due to the coughing (and unfortunate worrying that something more serious is going on). I'm wondering if anyone else is dealing with this?
