What it feels like is the chronic post nasal drip I have has caused congestion in my upper chest. However, the weird part is, I really have no cough, and the occasional cough has never brought anything up. My primary symptoms are now excessive belching, chest congestion in the sternum area, and sometimes some warmth in the lower throat area. For last 1 1/2 weeks my chest has a pain in the center. Notice in the morning after laying down and when I swallow I feel pain. I am a 66 year old female. I smoke a few cigarettes a day. I have had this for about 5 weeks now. It started with sneezing and runny nose (along with sinus congestion that is almost always present even before this episode). The sneezing and runny nose are gone. I am so stuffed up that I cannot get much air through either nostril. This is an ongoing problem that was present when this began.
After eating certain foods I get quite a bit of mucus build-up in my lungs and find myself coughing a lot after meals. I'm 17 years old and don't think this is due to acid reflux as I don't have any other symptoms and am quite young. I notice it immediately after I finish eating (not sure if it actually starts during eating as I'm not really focused on how my chest feels while eating). Does anyone have any idea of what this may be?
