Chest congestion cough no fever

Common Questions and Answers about Chest congestion cough no fever

chest

However, the weird part is, I really have no cough, and the occasional cough has never brought anything up. In the past, if my chest begins to feel this way, it is followed by the painful cough and coughing stuff up. I would not call what I have sometimes as pain, it feels more like irritation. When I am active, as well as when I drink a lot of water, it seems to be much better. Sit in front of the tv and the next thing I know I have a glob sitting in my throat.

I've been sick, (congested, fever, tired but not terribly so and mildly nausious with a small apetite for 10-12 days) before the fever, i was mildly nausious for 4-5 days with no other symptoms other than very mild congestion. I still have a low grade fever ranging from 99-100.2 degrees pretty consistently. My chest congestion is worse and lungs feel tight. Is this normal for H1N1?
Symptoms may include cough, back pain, chest pain, chest congestion, rapid breathing, shortness of breath, fever, chills, sweats, headache, weakness, tiredness, and a general feeling of discomfort and body aches. It is generally best diagnosed by chest x-ray in addition to a thorough physical exam. Treatment is based on the severity of your symptoms and the type of germ causing the infection.
I am in serious need of assistance concerning severe chest congestion accompanied with excessive coughing that causes me to gag, pass gas and sometimes bowel movement.
But last month I suddenly developed a mild sore/ticklish throat and by the next day I was heavily congested in my chest. No stuffy nose, no fever, just horrible coughing and phlegm that was difficult to cough up. I also had very achy joints and bad headache. It took about 4 days to get over it, but I coughed for a month afterward. Just when I got over it, again: a couple of days ago I felt a tickle/irritation in my throat and now I'm feeling miserable again.
3 days after I got , what I thought was a simple cold with nasal congestion and low grade fever lasting couple of days. The nasal discharge has been copious and clear. My concern is the severe congested cough that has developed and lasting over a week/ my nasal discharge has lessoned and is still clear or white. I have coughing spells which last 5-10 mins d/t not being able to get the mucus up and out. I can constantly feel accumulation of mucus in my airway and upper chest.
The first time he thought it might be Pneumonia or Bronchitis but I have no cough, no fever, no wheezing or phlegm. My lungs sound clear according to the doctor. The chest Xray and blood work came back normal. I just have restricted breathing. I must say the breathing part is getting much better but full inhales and exhales are tight and cause my restricted breathing to return for 30 minutes or so. It might go away after a few months but it is frustrating not to know what it is.
Hello all, for about a month now I have had a cough with chest congestion, sometimes it's productive, sometimes it's not, and I cough up green and yellow sputum. I also have nasal congestion and when I blow my nose it's a lot green mucus. The symptoms actually seem to go away late night and return 2 hours or so after I wake up. I have had no fever and no other symptoms. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
Is a Hacking Cough with sounds of congestion in the upper chest typical of COPD? My mother for the last month would expel white colored globs of mucus periodically after a few minutes of coughing. She has no fever nor loss of appetite. Her geriatrician tried Azithromycin 500mg tabs for 5 days which seemed to help but then the coughing and globs returned. The doctor then doubled her Pulmicort doseage in her Nebulizer for two weeks to see if that helped plus using Robitussin as needed.
The third day, some nasal congestion, cough, sore throat, sometimes phlem. Fourth day, nasal congestion, body aches (possibly from the coughing), occasional sneezing, more phlem (light to dark yellow) -- and hard to cough up, fever of 100.4. Fifth day, I am still congested, feel like the phlem is just building in my chest and can't get it out. NO fever, however I am on cold medicine--I have tried several over-the-counters.
There was no fever. After the surgery, I expected to have more symptoms from this viral thing, and I indeed did. I never knew a person could produce so much mucous. I did not dare cough because of the incision, but somehow managed, mostly by throat clearing, which has continued with little abatement. My upper chest also continues to hurt. In addition, I feel yucky, but lord knows whether that's from the virus or the hormones which have a ways to go before they get squared away.
The constants were sore throat and congestion. No fever. Chills once for a short period. During this time I was expelling a little phlegm both through throat and nose, mostly in am when awakening and in the shower. I went to work after 4th day. Felt fair during day, nights were usually bad. I have felt fairly well the last 2 days (during the day) and then this morning I woke up again with sore throat and minor earache. I am not expelling much phlegm or coughing much.
I don't feel well one day, the next day I wake up with heavy chest congestion with a productive cough. I get so sick I'm in bed for three days with fever, chills, no energy, no appetite. My question is, doesn't bronchitis occur after one gets a cold and not just happen out of the blue? Can this be a symptom of something else. I do have exercised induced asthma and take Advair twice a day. I've had testing for my heart, which came back perfectly normal.
I have no health problems prior. I am wondering what it might mean, that I have absolutley no cough or congestion. I can feel pain pretty bad especially when I breathe in. I have had high fevers, chills, and all but NO cough and NO phlegm whatsoever. The Pneumonia was diagnosed on a chest xray. Does it mean anything if I simply do not cough and have no desire to? Doesn't that infection have to come out somehow? Or can it just be that the pneumonia is only causing inflammation with no phlegm?
I'm on the same boat I have been drinking lots of orsnge juice for vitamin c . Also eat lots of soup or warm up drinks like milk ect. For nose rinse your nostrils with warm water not too hot dont burn urself and try breathing in the steam usually opens nostrils. Or put vicks on ur chest n feet. Helps you breathe. And ur back too!
I have had a cold or possible sinus infection (green discharge when blowing nose) for a week. It began as a head cold, but for the past few days, the congestion has settled in my chest and I began coughing. My cough sounds like a "bark" but the congestion is loose. If I felt worse, I would think I had bronchitis or pneumonia from the sound of my chest and cough.

But now for about a mon i got the same kind of headache & then this time no cough but only breathing difficulty & chest congestion or tightness.
( And I did get the zpak for my ear infection. It cleared up the tiredness, ear pain, headache, fever and clicking in my ears. But it did nothing for the stuffy nose. I'm just at my wits end today with it! Am I able to take sudafed in my first trimester? I know it's on my approved list, but I didn't know if it was ok for the first trimester...I can look when I get home too.

Then rub some Vick's on your chest to help with the congestion. Since you've been on antibiotics, you have killed all the bacteria in your body, including the good bacteria in you gut. It is necessary to replace these by taking acidophilus. I would double up on the dose for a week as you have no bacteria at all. Do you have a heating pad? Applying warm towels or a heating pad to your aching shoulders will bring some relief. A massage would work wonders.
I am hoping to get off all pills asap and see if it goes away eventually...? Perhaps the cough lung or chest congestion is side effect of one of my meds??? I am 41, generally healthy and moderately active. I have a very sensitive system. Thanks for sharing your advice and experiences. ---I appreciate this forum so much!!
doctor says there is no congestion as such.but v r not clear to analyse whether it is allergic cough/asthma.how to test??how to avoid this/preventive measures.
Hi Embee - I have had the same problem quite a few times and it usually follows a cold or flu and can be a dry persistent cough that serves no purpose. I too have tried everything from water, tea, nasal sprays, cough medicine, lozenges etc. I have spent many a night on the lounge this winter because I have been coughing for hours! The only thing I have had any luck with is to suck on a piece of dark chocolate. I don't know why but it pulls the tickle from my throat.
