Chest congestion and wheezing

Common Questions and Answers about Chest congestion and wheezing

chest

Avatar m tn I have EXACTLY what you described right now and have had for two months now. Horrible wheezing and coughing- the cough before had fluid now it's deep and raspy and dry. My sinus points hurt so bad it's sickening, I pray it doesn't cause a sinus headache. My doctor did a CTscan and my lungs are completely clear. I walk a mile or two every day and this doesn't stop me, I used to have asthma and this makes no sense at a because I sure know it isn't that.
Avatar f tn Did 2 complete antibiotic regemes... finally had a chest xray since I was still coughing and the doc cough hear congestion in both sides of mylungs. Three weeks later and I still have this night wheezing and sensation in the lower lungs which is loud enough to wake me... and my husband. Eventually, I cough and cough and sometimes produce a "plug" of mucus. This gives me relief and I can sleep. But the wheezing returns...
Avatar f tn I have had this for about 5 weeks now. It started with sneezing and runny nose (along with sinus congestion that is almost always present even before this episode). The sneezing and runny nose are gone. I am so stuffed up that I cannot get much air through either nostril. This is an ongoing problem that was present when this began. Then I felt a funny tickling sensation in right lung (upper part of lung) which started congestion developing (with a bit of wheezing).
Avatar m tn For the last five months, I've been with congestion, chest pain and shortness of breath. I've been wheezing a lot and I can't run a lap without wheezing for breath. I don't have asthma, or any health problem. Should I be worrried, and how could I relieve this?
Avatar f tn What it feels like is the chronic post nasal drip I have has caused congestion in my upper chest. However, the weird part is, I really have no cough, and the occasional cough has never brought anything up. In the past, if my chest begins to feel this way, it is followed by the painful cough and coughing stuff up. I would not call what I have sometimes as pain, it feels more like irritation. When I am active, as well as when I drink a lot of water, it seems to be much better.
Avatar f tn Is there any other remedy that can help eliminate or lessen the amount of wheezing and congestion and coughing I have?? I have gotten back on track with my eating habits, so I am taking small baby steps but this coughing is just killing me.
Avatar n tn It started off as a minor sore throat, nothing that really bothered me and a bit of a stuffy nose. Within two days both of those were replaced with chest congestion, tightness, and a wet cough producing green phlegm. Now its been about 5 days of wheezing and this cough i can feel the congestion deep down in my lungs. When i breathe i can feel the phlegm and mucus and i wheeze when i exhale. It is usually worse at night before i go to sleep. Im not quite sure If i should go see my doctor.
Avatar m tn in the process I have smoked but havent smoked for the last week or so. Whats scaring me is that I still have this wheezing in my chest and its been 2 months.. the wheezing comes and goes.. but if i try to breathe in and out really hard u hear it all the time. what should I do? Did i even have bronchitits or is this something else?
Avatar f tn my 6 month old is congested and has a harsh cough and is wheezing what can I give him to help with the congestion instead of formula
Avatar f tn There are many reasons for congestion in chest. If you are having difficulty in breathing and congestion then it is asthma. You have been diagnosed with asthma. Asthma is an inflammatory disease of the airway and mainly arises from allergies. Some of the common characteristics or symptoms of asthma are recurrent breathing problems, breathlessness, wheezing, chest tightness, coughing etc. Some other causes for congestion are inflammation, heart disorders, pleurisy etc.
Avatar n tn I took those but continued to be congested (by the way whichever nostril is clogged up I would get a constant clear drainage) and started to develop a dry cough from time to time and wheezing. I would also get sneezing 'attacks' usually in the morning it seems because my nose felt so dry inside or whenever the congestion would switch over. I saw my primary care again and they prescribed flovent and albuterol for the coughing/wheezing.
Avatar f tn It is cigarette smoking. For a young person at age 33 to have the wheezing, chest congestion, chest discomfort and recurrent bronchitis that you have experienced is very worrisome. You at least have chronic bronchitis, may have asthma and may be developing the permanent lung damage that leads to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). You must stop “torturing” your lungs.
Avatar m tn Same hospital or different ones?
1139665 tn?1382710950 I'm really freaking out and hoping someone can help me. I've had a cough for the last 6 or so weeks and now i'm finding blood in my spit after coughing. It started out to just be a tickle in my throat/lungs that would make me cough. Cough was dry and breathing was fine. 6 weeks later the cough is worse...i'm wheezing off and on and this morning and this evening i've found small spots of blood in my spit after a coughing fit. I've been to the doctors a couple of times.
Avatar n tn If you are having difficulty in breathing and congestion then may be a asthma. Asthma is an inflammatory disease of the airway and mainly arises from allergies. Hence you have allergy in past few days; there is release of endogenous histamine which causes bronchospasm and breathlessness. Some of the common characteristics or symptoms of asthma are recurrent breathing problems, breathlessness, wheezing, chest tightness, coughing etc.
Avatar m tn Hey everyone, I've had chest and nose congestion for sometime now. I went to the doctor about a week ago when my symptoms were at its worse, intense wheezing, especially at night, runny nose, cough, and sneezing, that what was pretty much all I had but the wheezing was the worst part (I could hear myself breathing). My first doc prescribe me albuterol, prednisone and a z pack, I took eveything and started feeling better.
Avatar f tn The chest problems have been going on for a month or two and I'm not sure what to make of them. When I wake up, it feels like its hard to breathe. It feels like someone is squeezing the middle of my chest, making it hard for my lungs to expand and fill up with enough air. It doesn't matter what position I am in, nothing seems to help me breathe better.
Avatar f tn However, before the week was over, I started to experience coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath. I also have asthma, and I’ve had asthmatic bronchitis before, so it started to feel familiar. The following week, I was consistently short of breath. I went to a walk-in clinic after work (January 28).
170935 tn?1225371076 ve pretty much recovered from every thing else BUT the tightness/wheezing in my chest and the itchy feeling. This has consistenly persisted over the last 3 months and I've been freaked out by it too, as I have never experienced anything like it. Nothing I've tried has worked to make it go away.
Avatar n tn Well here I am with a cat who has used up her nine lives and my savings account and is still wheezing and I feel its louder but she still runs around and plays all the time never coughs and I rarley see hairballs since she is still half hairless from the surgery and allergic reaction nearly 4 mnths ago. I dont know what to do I seemed to have gotten the sickest cat in the world I have her on a special diet vet gave vitamins and she is spoiled rotten.
Avatar m tn For the past three months, I have had chest and sinus congestion, manifesting itself in hacking/coughing, wheezing, and expectorating thick yellow (various shades) mucus. I "sound" like I have a cold, but I don't. No other symptons have been present. Two regimens of antibiotics have proven to be ineffective. I am using daily the generic equivalent of Flonase, am also taking an antihistamine, Advair, and doing nasal irrigation with a neti pot.
