It is advisable to first have the investigations for fever like ESR,complete blood count,blood culture,blood test for malarial parasite,widal test,x-ray chest or sonography to exclude any of the pathologies associated with fever.If negative,then other causes of shivering and feeling cold should be looked for.

Woke up with now mild throat pain and runny nose in left nostril only. No cough, or Fever or Aches.
Wednesday: Woke up with to throat problems, now fine. Runny nose got worst and a lot of sneezing. Headache only in mourning for a few hours which has pasted. Dull ache by armpit and chest. No cough, or Fever or Sore Throat.
Im thinking its the flu?
I could run a for hours if i wanted to....

My son got a cold and now has a dry, persistent cough with chest pain. What would be the best over the counter medication for these types of symptoms. He is an asthmatic as well, however, he is not wheezing or experiencing any symptoms related to asthma. He also does not have a fever, but I am concerned that it could be a bronchial or upper respiratory infection.

First he had weakness, and he was cold, and He started getting nauseous. The next day he had a fever of 103.1 (that was the highest it ever got to) . He threw up twice, and he said he had abdominal pain from heaving. He went to the doctor and they didnt know what it was. They told him to go to the hospital if it kept on. He started feeling better the next day (his fever broke and he felt fine). Then later that day his fever went back up a little bit and he felt worse. He threw up again.
Absolutely no mucus and cough just began late yesterday. Cough is FEW and far between. Chest feels like a minor chest cold.
I've never had pneumonia but my husband has it probably 4 times a year and he coughs and coughs up gunk for weeks. Should I be concerned that I am not coughing more or coughing up mucus? I still have 7 full days of antibiotic.

I have had a chest, sinus cold going on four weeks now with intermittent laryngitis. I have been on a course of Levaquin 2 weeks ago and am still sick. Prior to this cold I had another cold and was on a Z pac, can't seem to get any better... Never had a fever, just productive cough raising green phlegm.. I have no pain in my jaw or anywhere in my left arm or shoulder. I am not feeling sick or fatigued. There is no sign of fever, cold or chill.I don't have constipation, diarrhea, or any other stomach upset or pain.I have no headache or dizziness. I am suffering from chronic sinusitis from two years. There is no swelling or change of colour on the location of pain. The pain don't exacerbate when I palpate the location of pain.
On December 21st and 22nd I had a cold, no vomitting but very achy body and very reduced energy. I woke up with sharp pain all over my chest and spine. On the 23rd I felt completely fine. On the 24th I woke up with some very sharp pain in my right chest, it would come and go ever few minutes and at its worst I had to stop moving and wait for it to pass, but it did get better as the day progressed. I don't know what you are allowed to take when you are pregnant, pharmaceutical or otherwise... but I'd suggest making sure you eat well, stay hydrated. Maybe run a hot shower for a while then go outside in the cold (like when babies have croup---gives some relief). I've heard oil of oregano or eucalyptus oil, a few drops in boiling water, your head with a towel over it and you inhale, can help with phlegm.
• A lukewarm bath or sponge bath may help cool someone with a fever. This is especially effective after medication is given -- otherwise the temperature might bounce right back up.
• Do NOT use cold baths or alcohol rubs. These cool the skin, but often make the situation worse by causing shivering, which raises the core body temperature.
• Drink cool liquids, as tolerated.

It was a nasty cold with a fever 99-101.5. The cold symptoms faded over time but I have been stuck with the fever, crushing fatigue, dizziness, and shortness of breath. Tests have been completely normal: CBC, CBC with manual differential, complete metabolic panel, mono test, sed rate. I took a course of azithromycin and got worse while taking it. ALL OF A SUDDEN this evening my throat became scratchy, then I developed a cough and runny nose. After a few hours I could hear congestion in my chest. After a few cups of hot team with honey, lemon and a little brandy i spit up a greenish color mucus that eventually turned clear. Most of the rattle in my chest is gone, but my throat is sore and I do not have a fever. What is going on???
