It started as a sore throat which quickly moved to my chest and now im wheezing and coughing like crazy. Nose is running slightly but not crazy.
I was at the doc for a previous test result and she heard my chest and prescribed Zithromax saying that it could be a chest infection.
I don't want to take antibiotics for what feels like a regular cold after only 3-4 days.
My mucus is white, my throat is not swollen.
Is the zithro even going to do anything?
My girls had this chest cold type thing. Theirs only lasted two days, well I caught it. And I've now had it for 6 days.. bcuz I have asthma, wheezing horribly, short of breath, coughing, I called my baby doc and asked him what I could take.. he said just tylenol and he called me in an antibiotic! Not sure if its gonna work or not I have to call him Monday and let him know.
I had what started out as a cold, then a lingering cough and was started on antibiotics during which I developed chest tightness, shortness of breath and wheezing. I was diagnosed with asthmatic bronchitis, given a breathing treatment and sent home with a prescription for an albuterol inhaler.
My doctor never really explained except to say that I had bronchitis which turned into asthmatic bronchitis. I do not have a history of asthma. So what exactly is asthmatic bronchitis?
I have a barking cough wheezing headache runny nose puffy under my eyes and 3 big bumps on the back of my tongue. Should I go to the Dr.? Ive had a cold for over a week and been wheezing for 4-5 days. coughing real bad it hurts my chest. Today I noticed 3 fairly large bumps on the back of my tongue that dont hurt. they are on both sides by my tonsils. Just wondering what this could be!

After quitting smoking the cough left over from my cold grew worse and I could feel my sinuses draining in the form of post-nasal drip.
after a long bad cold 2 years ago, i have episodes of throat tightness with a bit of wheezing and slight shortness of breath. i thought allergies were the culpert,and treated this with allergie medication which seem to work until lately.had chest e-ray last year lungs were clear although there were wheezing.any suggestions?
just felt shortness of breath (very little) and felt crappy and had tightness of the chest…as well as…the very odd cough only when I smoked…...
with chest infections the coughing gets worse when you lay down, go in and out of the cold, is wheesy, sometimes with mucus, and it is quite a bad chest infection when is starts getting crackly. also coughing can be so frequent, hard or violent it can cause bad headaches.
you really need to see a doctor.
the longer you leave it the worse it will get.
if you leave it too long you will struggle to breath. especially with asthma, chest infections when left can be dangerous.

Tuesday-Started feeling chest tightness but no wheezing by sternum and every time I would cough up from chest clear to white thin mucous I felt my chest get colder. It is Friday and still has cold sensation in chest near sternum. No fever, no wheezing, but is have noticed if I speak too long I need to kind of catch my breath a little also suffer from acid reflux so I am thinking it may be that as well.
after he gets every month cold and but never develops wheezing... he had cold last week and my husband gave steam with sinorast vapour tablets... very days he started wheezing with sever cough... and doctor suggested to again to give omnacortil forte for 3 days for 2 times... and now he is fine... When i asked doctor " why he is getting every month cold" and she told me that it will be like that till 6 years and that he will develop immunity...
hello. i am 36 yrs old, and have suffered from asthma every since about 5 yrs ago. i had pneumonia when my son was born. he now 11 yrs old. and my doc says that the pneumonia left me with asthmatic bronchitis. i usually only have problems when i get sick.
As of present i am wheezing and on prednisone. this has been goin on for about 6-8 wks. the wheezing i mean. i am not sick. i don't have a cold or anything, and i just don't understand this.
This proceeded with a cough i could not get rid of, wheezing and some cold coming up from time to time. I went to the dr in Dec. and was prescribed an inhaler some antibiotics. They told me i had a low fever, a sinus infection and fluid in my airways. About a month later,i went back to the dr because i was still wheezing and coughing. I then was prescribed another inhlaer, more antibiotics and prednisone. This seemed to help while being on the steroid, but after not so much.
I have had constant wheezing in my chest since Jan and it is now May 8, 08. I am very athletic, don't smoke, eat healthy and take of myself. I have gone to see the doctors and what they generally tell me is I have bronchitis and prescribe antibiotics which I have read don't work for bronchitis. They also tell me I have asthma which I developed as an adult. I just refuse to succumb to this diagnosis’s.
I was in bed all day friday and then sat. i stayed in bed most of the day. On that sunday, my chest was hurting so bad that i went into the er and they said i just had a cold. a little fluid behind my ears but no strep or influenza. just the cold and flu. well..... i still wasn't feeling better 5 days later so i went to the doctor again. she said i had bronchitis, possibly strep, sinus infection and swimmers ear! (which i haven't swam in months!!!
This helped at the time top open my chest up. Now, since then I ALWAYS wake up in the middle of the night with a wheezing throat, some times a cough as well. I take a puff of the Ventolin and this gets rid of the wheeze. I have told my doctor this and even had an asthma test, but this came back negative. My doctor told me it is ok for me to take the Ventolin even though I am not asthmatic as the wheezing is to do with my allergies.
