i have had a bad chest,cough and sickness now for over a month,i had been to the doctors twice and he gave me 2 different antibiotics,and they havn"t seem to work,can you tell me what,or why you think this is happening to me?thanks,also if this helps ,everytime i cough i seem to want to be sick,and sometimes do.
Day 1- a lot of drainage draining in the back of my throat; Day 2- feeling cold, chills, sore throat, minor aches, and mild fever. Day 3- Same symptoms as Day 2 but now with night sweats and cough, occasional sneezing. Day 4- chills and aches went away, no night sweat, no fever, but dry cough, sore throat, sneezing and chest congestion; Day 5- chills came back, had another night sweat (my neck, chest, and upper back were drenched), minor sore throat, dry cough and congestion.
with chest infections the coughing gets worse when you lay down, go in and out of the cold, is wheesy, sometimes with mucus, and it is quite a bad chest infection when is starts getting crackly. also coughing can be so frequent, hard or violent it can cause bad headaches.
you really need to see a doctor.
the longer you leave it the worse it will get.
if you leave it too long you will struggle to breath. especially with asthma, chest infections when left can be dangerous.

Hey all! So, I started smoking (cigarettes) about 1.5 years ago, and have smoked marijuana for approximately ~10 years. In terms of cigarettes, I generally smoke about half a pack, to a pack per day, give or take (really just depends on what I'm doing/how I'm feeling that day). I had gotten a cold last December, and my cough never went away. Went to the doctor, and he said it's probably just a lingering cough; to this day, the cough persists.
A little over a week ago I was really sick - fever, body aches, headache, sore throat, and cough. Everything is gone now except the cough. It's in my chest, which is kind of achy, and I can hear like a raspy mucus sound when I breath. It's like it seems clear, then all of a sudden it's mucusy and I have to cough - but nothing really comes up.
I had a cold from 02/17 - 02/26 and then I got another cold from 03/03 - 03/16. Symptoms of my cold were runny nose, cough and congestion. Every morning I would spit out green phlegm and afterwards it would be clear. So on 03/16 everything cleared out, no longer had any cold symptoms; although I was left with a cough, somewhat tight chest and short breath. There's no mucus, it's a dry cough and any mucus I spit out or blow out is clear.
My son got a cold and now has a dry, persistent cough with chest pain. What would be the best over the counter medication for these types of symptoms. He is an asthmatic as well, however, he is not wheezing or experiencing any symptoms related to asthma. He also does not have a fever, but I am concerned that it could be a bronchial or upper respiratory infection.

The chest discomfort seems to go away for a number of days and then come back at night only. Again short stabbing pains. I do not have a cold or cough. I am however more breathless on exertion. I am concerned as one of parents had blood clots in their lungs last year with very few symptoms. After my docs appointment i thought I must just be too anxious and I'd hate to waste their time again. Is it possible to experince these things through anxiety?
Just prior to the procedure I had a TEE. Since my procedure I have had a persistant cough, no cold symptoms, just a dry cough. Could this be aresult of the TEE or the procedure itself? Is there any reason to be concerned about this symptom? I can't think of any reason I have a cough, in terms of a cold or allergies.
What can I take to get rid of a cold while pregnant and my son which is almost 11 months has it now too. I dont like medicine but I really dont want to be sick anymore.
Avoid dextramethorphan, like Robitussin DM. It is okay to treat the symptoms of your cough, but if you are getting symptoms that point toward bacterial infection requiring antibiotics, make sure you see your doctor. Examples of symptoms to watch for are fever, coughing up colored phlegm, pain in your chest when you cough, shortness of breath, or any symptoms lasting more than 10 days or so.
