Chest cold lungs

Common Questions and Answers about Chest cold lungs

chest

The constant coughing could cause muscle strain and chest pain. Sometimes the pleura, the lining of the chest cavity and lungs can get inflamed causing pain with coughing. If the pain is aggravated with work or exercise then it could be due to cardiac pain. But when in doubt always best to have it checked. So please consult your primary care physician who may ask for an EKG or a treadmill test to rule out a cardiac cause for the pain. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
In November of 2009 i contracted some form of virus that i had for about a month and a half. The symptoms were diarrhea, flu like symptoms, chest pain (burning and cold like sensations). After a month and a half it went away but about a week ago the chest symptoms seemed to return. Half the time everything is fine, but the other half i am plagued with these horrible hot and cold sensations that seem to be in my lungs. They are also accompanied by terrible abdominal pain, upper and lower.
But, after maybe 2 days of feeling better I all of the sudden developed this horrible cough (dry) and an extremely tight chest. I mean horrible, I've had asthma my entire life and I consider this bad. It is the kind of cough that makes you want to puke. Anyway, this was accompanied by a fever ranging from 99-102, usually the low end was after taking some tylenol or ibuprofein, and extreme hot and cold flashes (well extreme for me).
Paramedics did a check and my heart and lungs seemed fine. So why does my chest always feel like an Elephant is standing on it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I am a 41 year old female. Dec. 14th I came down with a chest cold. ( no fever)Finally last Tuesday, I saw my ENT. He gave me two shots ( steroid & antibiotic) and also put me on Cipro.... When I went to him, I told him of a stabbing pain I get under rightbreast when Im coughing. He blew it off & said that if teh cough didnt clear up, Id need to get a chest X-ray. In the mean time, I dont want to cough because of the pain, yet thats the only way to get up teh green gunk in my lungs!
However, the last day my chest is very tight, if i cough it restricts my chest and hurts when i cough. I have no other symptoms other than my chest wall. I am drinking hot tea with honey and have put vicks vapor rub on my chest, but it hurts to talk and especially when i cough. please help.
I moved to Wellington New Zealand in October and a couple of weeks later I developed a lung irritation, post nasal drip and productive-with-phlegm cough. I went to the doctor with these symptoms and chest pain etc. Antibiotics did not work so i was prescribed som ventolin for my cough attacks and strong anti-histamines as Wellington is known for it's high pollen count. These did not really help. I went to sea for 5 days over the new year my symptoms completely cleared.
Jenny - never mess with breathing always go straight to your dr. Things can turn on a dime, I've had pneumonia and allergies and waiting is never a good idea. You need to take care of yourself. Pain is your body's way of telling you something is wrong, at 28 breathing should never hurt. Please see your Dr. Hope to hear back that you have an appt.
since last november i have had chest pain that never goes away i have had numerous chest xrays which are alway clear i have also been to see a heart doctor everything is normal i was told i have a hiatul hernia also i have bloody boogers almost every morning i occasionally get shortness of breath but very rarely cough could this all be caused by the hernia or is there an under lying problem
The beginning of this year I had a bad cold with productive cough and aching chest for about two weeks. It cleared up, then again at the end of February it felt like it was coming back, only now there is no cough, just a constant feeling of having a chest cold. The only way I can describe it is as if it is cold outside and you feel an aching feeling when breathing deeply. It feels like a straining in my chest and throat.
I quit 5 years ago. I am concerned about the lingering cold, the fatique, a tightness in my chest and this sign of emphasema. What further steps may I take to rid myself of the cold? How serious is the hyper inflated lungs? (I do not have shortness of breath.) I am also a diabetic; my blood sugar readings are in the 150 range; this is considerably higher than my normal readings. Is this due to the cold? That's what I was told by the doctor and his nurse.

I'm a 53 y.o. female, history of MVP 30 years, bout of PVCs 4 years ago, atypical chest pain this winter that I'm still being worked up for but seemed cardiac. About a month ago I came down with what seemed to be a bad cold, with mild headache, runny nose, sore throat, fatigued easily. Doctor put me on amoxicillin, seemed to resolve after a week and I felt okay for a while.
My lungs feel heavy and get a slight burning sensation even when not exercising. I've also had a cough for several months (but no cold) that won't go away. I walk around my area almost every night, weather permitting, and the cough gets worse. I don't want to give up walking as it's my only source of exercise. Any thoughts?

And I was trying to exercice ( later I would find out that there were fires in Malibu, if that has any connection) and I was jhogging. After 2 blocks I felt like my lungs were contracting, it felt like they were getting smaller by the second, and like I could not breathe. I tried to relaxed and walked my way back home.I kept coughing the whole eveing. Ever since then my throat hurts especially when I get up in the morning... Could it be asthma?
How severely can using crack daily about (5-1 g's a day) for three years affect my lungs? I have had a cold now for a year in half as well as i been coughing up black phleam for a year and half exc...
For the past week I have had this weird cold sensation in my chest and throat. It feels like I have been eating menthol cough drops all week, which I havent. Any ideas??
I have a question though that I have tried to research for months and I am getting no where from the research or the medics. It started with a really nasty chest infection in January this year which required antibiotics and 2 weeks off work. This left me with a barking cough which would not go and is intermittent throughout the day (it doesn't wake me at night).
I was surprised because I did not have the flu or a cold and felt fine other than my chest. I also only had a bit of flem in my lungs. He admitted me to hospital where I stayed for five days. In hospital I was prescribed Tavanic IV three times a day, Theoplus, a cough suppressant, painkillers and I was nebulized. None of the treatment in hospital made me feel at all better. I could not sleep at night due to losing my breath. I also had to use oxygen quite a bit.
I saw the doc and she gave me Amoxycillin for 7 days. It then eased but worked its way down to my chest and had l some build up of fluid in the lungs and as a result i was constantly coughing and trying to get it out. It has been going on now for over 7 weeks and will not completely go. It seems to clear up up but every time I get out to exercise it returns. Any ideas of how to get rid of it.
It started in my stomach and chest and spread up to my neck and jaw and even ears. It hurt so freaking bad I ran for the cold water and it was instant relief. I don't know how anyone could stand it without the water or I suppose anything cold to drink would work if you drank it fast. I am healthy, exercise regularly and have no medical problems of any kind. This is a mystery, but thank goodness for cold water.
No. but today the feeling seem to be more in my throat then lungs. My throat is really dry. I wonder if it's just an allergen I don't know about.
I had a nasty cold a few weeks ago. My Dr gave me the ok to take Tylenol cold and flu. It helped a lot and was gone in a few days.
Its weird because i dont cough anymore but i had night sweats and my lungs feel feverish and warm. They also hurt especially when i touch my back and chest (even around my neck - and a lot). What could this be? I have already scheduled an appointment but i dont wanna be nervous until then. I dont have a cough anymore at all, and i dont have a fever either.
I too, have been sick for 2 months....chest cold, flu, head cold, strep throat, head cold, all the while with severe fatigue and achieness. It's been contstant and I and my family are exhausted. I had bloodwork done today and we are checking for anything that might be amiss.
Yesterday I went to my doctor because I had a bad cold with a cough. She checked my lungs and said I had rales in my lower right lobe and was concerned that I had congestive heart failure and did blood work to check for same. I did have a bad case of pneumonia in January (also had the same thing the previous year), and ended up with some nodules in my lungs. My pulmonologist does CT scans every six months to keep them checked.
My symptoms are general malaise, nausea, overall body pain, daily migraines, frequent diarrhea, some chest pains, flank pain and right lower quadrant pain. I don't have fevers but am never comfortable temperature for last 6 months, always too cold or too hot and my symptoms keep getting worse rather than leveling off or getting better. Should I worry? Docs aren't worried but they're not having to live in the daily pain. Not great docs in my city. Thanks for any answers.
