I did notice that the day before this started that my voice sounded a bit off and others could tell. Also, it's mostly in the right side of my throat, not the left. I took some tylenol and that made me not feel the pain. I could breathe more normally. Also, I took a bath and just submerged myself in the hot water and that helped.
Months passed by, and my breathing just seemed to get worse. I ended up getting this cough a while later, then my chest felt like it had something in it all the time and I had to clear it up. I am 30, light cig smoker though I have not had one in about 2 weeks, and am a pretty heavy medicinal herb smoker. I don't feel any pain in my lungs, and i don't feel any chest pain. It's just really Hard to breathe and it's making me feel anxious and scared. I all of a sudden jump out of bed and can't breathe. Feels like i'm trying to breathe through a straw with a thickness the size of a toothpick. Now for the strange part, this has happened in the middle of the day sitting at my desk. I'll jump up, and have the same symptom for a minute or so. It's scary. I have had two instances the last 30 days. I am reading that it could be VCD (vocal cord dysfunction). It's not sleep apnea ( I don't believe) because it happens while i'm awake.
I had a cold 2 weeks ago, right after this began to happen. OMG OMG OMG DO I HAVE to GET SURGERY?? AH! yes.. i am very stressed out, panicing all the time even if i dont seem like it.
It started in my stomach and chest and spread up to my neck and jaw and even ears. It hurt so freaking bad I ran for the cold water and it was instant relief. I don't know how anyone could stand it without the water or I suppose anything cold to drink would work if you drank it fast. I am healthy, exercise regularly and have no medical problems of any kind. This is a mystery, but thank goodness for cold water.

What I want to know is this, do any of you get chest pain when it's cold? It hurts and my wrist hurts as well. -( I hope it doesn't hurt the baby.

You sound like you got this chest cold/flu thing that's going around right now. (Mono, you usually have a sore throat) I had this flu going around, and I haven't been sick in ten years. There's several posts below that talk all about it. I came here and posted becuz I was going nuts. Anyhow, my husband had it first, and he is a smoker, and he could not catch his breath to save his life, very scary.

I feel like I almost want to keep going with it and start back up, but its a diff story when I start not be able to breathe well (sigh). Its not all the time once I am up in the morning it eleveates for the most part but annoying. I have recently started on ibuprophen and it helps a little. I do not feel like I have congestion. I can breathe freely but notice a little mucous in throat.
Hiya, I've had this damn chest cold for ages now. The worse thing about it is that it seems to go then comes back after a few days of feeling better. I've had a chest X-ray which just said that I was congested. I've had everything from antibiotics to over the counter remedies but I havn't been able to really shift it. At the moment I have the 'chills' with it and now the sinus's are bad.

Went to ENT and he said allergies, gave me Astelin, neosonephrine and sinus irrigator. I have had this trouble off and on for over a year. Last friday my chest pain got so bad that someone was putting pressure in the middle of my chesk. I felt tightness that it was Hard to breathe. I had sholder pain that went down my left arm along with numbness. I saw my doctor. She did an EKG and sent me to the ER to get further evaluated. ER sent me home 4 hours latter and told me my labs where normal. 3 days latter I got the same pains just worse. This time the left side of my face went numb.
In his opinion, you are too old to have that kind of fun. So he kind of sits on your chest and makes it difficult for you to breathe. Now you don't want to go off and play with other people when you can't breathe, do you? Your friend does not believe in being healthy. He is really repulsed by the thought of you living a long and productive life. So every chance he gets he makes you sick. He helps you catch colds and flu.
I am 35 and have chest pain, arm and leg pains. I am back and forth to the ER and family practice only to hear I have anxiety and acid reflux. Thank you for taking the time to listen to me. I guess the Hard part for me is that I haven't had enough time to adjust to what has happened. Until last August I never had any health problems (other than wisdom teeth) in my life. All of a sudden this happened and it is very scary every time I feel something unusual I think the worst is happening. The xanax helps me a lot with that.
Same for my lungs, I havent coughed up blood or anything black, its only ranged from clear white saliva to slightly dark yellow/green phlegm (As would be present in cold/chest infection), but Ive noticed enough difference in myself overall to know I have an issue that needs dealing with. Hopefully someone can help provide some further insight in solving this issue?
It is amazing how much you will read and listen to when it comes to chest pain. I will be going back to see my cardiologist in hopes that he will be able to shed some light on my problem.
After that it was 10X better and now I feel great. Also I know it is Hard to remember did the chest pain trigger the anxiety or did my anxiety trigger the chest pain. With a normal workup your odds are really small. You just may want to have a 3rd or 4th? EKG at your next apointment just to put your mind at ease. Also remember when you went to your PCP and the ER odds are a cardiologist read over your EKG at a later date to make sure nothing was missed.
