I have had a chest, sinus cold going on four weeks now with intermittent laryngitis. I have been on a course of Levaquin 2 weeks ago and am still sick. Prior to this cold I had another cold and was on a Z pac, can't seem to get any better... Never had a fever, just productive cough raising green phlegm.. Should I be working about my immune system at this point?
Your doctor feels that you are not sufficiently over the cold and that antibiotics are required to get you over this. I assume he listened to your lungs. He heard things that you cannot. I would trust him on this one.

What you describe sounds serious; maybe a “chest cold” or bronchitis or maybe even pneumonia. At this point you should have a Chest X-ray, examination of the mucous you are coughing-up and a blood count. It sounds like your doctor has done his best to cure your illness but the infection has not responded to the antibiotics and you are no better. I believe it might be a good time for you to see another doctor for a second opinion.
I got a cold about a month ago, maybe just over a month, and it almost went away then came back and it seems more so in my chest now. It feels like it is full of mucous which I can not seem to cough up. My nose is still runny/stuffy and I have a bad cough again that started the other day. I have never been sick this long! Is it normal for a cold to last this long and get worse instead of better?
A little over a week ago I was really sick - fever, body aches, headache, sore throat, and cough. Everything is gone now except the cough. It's in my chest, which is kind of achy, and I can hear like a raspy mucus sound when I breath. It's like it seems clear, then all of a sudden it's mucusy and I have to cough - but nothing really comes up.
It is day three, the congestion has turned into off in on congestion with a runny nose when not congested, a consistent cough with me trying to get the mucus out of my chest, to a dry cough.
For the past month I have had a sore chest and persistent cough. As soon as I lay down it crackles and wheezes so loudly that it keeps my wife awake and i try to get a bit of sleep sitting upright which lessens the coughing. This started like a head cold and still behaves like it with lots of mucus from my sinuses, balance problems and ear pressure. Some mucus comes up when I cough but not as much as there was for the first couple of days. Its yellow/brown colour and thick.
The doctor prescribed me amoxilin, an antibiotic for medication. He said the chest pain could be from a cold. They're hoping its not a infection in my lungs. My stomach pains are almost gone, but the chest pains are still remaining, and my cold symptoms worsened. I'm waiting until tomorrow to see how I feel, then i will decide whether to get a xray for my chest.
Have had 5 different antibiotics and 2 inhalers . The antibiotics helped with a chronic sinusitis on the lt side of my face so I am grateful for that but the antibiotics have not touched the rt side.. This has been going on since Sept 9. I am wondering if I have picked up some mould and it has settled in my lungs from the mould and cold where I was. This has gone on so long I am feeling so run down.
How can I fix this.
Well, no throat culture, chest x ray or blood test has been done so far. Just auscultation of the back/chest and examination of throat.
Im not exactly sure about any pollen or weather changes, has been fairly summer like weather - sunny.
The inhalers are Ventolin and Advair.
Im trying to be patient, but at the same time, its hard not be worried/concerned.
Overall, it now has been 15 days, but I have had a decrease in mucous (just a bit in the mornings, not colored, just cloudy).
I have had a cold for about two weeks today it started with sneezing, runny nose, cough etc and progressively had gotten to the point for a week ive had stuffy nose, dry cough and sometimes sounds thick, more chest. pressure making it more difficult to breathe, have no sence of smell or taste. I also cough up thick mucus frequently. Im just not getting any better and its irritating. Ive taken all cold meds, humidifier, vics, everything and nothing helps.
Hi my little boy is 13months has had a chest infection gor 3-4 weeks he has had strong course of antibiotics for 7 days and had chest x ray where the right upper lobe presents with infection however the gps have said that as they don't know if it's viral or bactyerium they are not inclined to treat with more antibiotics. As he presents with no temp and is feeding and drinking ok. Yet i know he is not himself and is irritable obviously with discomfort.

I went to a doctor and he ordered me a gastroscopy who shows Helicobacter Pylori infection. He ordered a blood test also and everything was normal. I´m on prevacid now, but the strange symtoms persist.
For last 1 1/2 weeks my chest has a pain in the center. Notice in the morning after laying down and when I swallow I feel pain. I had a cold/flu approx. 6 weeks ago and was able to function after about 2 days. However, I have had a persistent cough that never seem to go away. Its not all the time once I am up in the morning it eleveates for the most part but annoying. I have recently started on ibuprophen and it helps a little. I do not feel like I have congestion.

I've had a cold for about a week now. A few days ago I went to the dr cause I started having pain a few seconds after swallowing (right chest area) it doesn't hurt to breathe.... Just feels heavy. Dr thought I was developing bronchitis but I've been on antibiotics for 4 days now with no improvement.
I got it again today [this time it had been exactly 4 months since the last infection] but this time it was directly after getting over a cold that had my throat sore, nose running, and had me coughing. I'm wondering, as I read more and more online, if I would have gotten over all those bouts of tonsilitus without the antibiotcs. Sometimes they did a swab, sometimes they didnt, and I remember sometimes they said that nothing showed up but they still gave me antibiotcs.
In January both myself and my 4 yr old son developed a cough along with a headcold and we can't seem to get rid of it. Both of us have taked antibiotics, and the symptoms have gotten better. The cough for both of us is periodic, but my son has started having what I would call coughing fits when he is running or playing hard. He gets red faced when he coughs and it stops with drinking water and rest. At night when he lays down he coughs as well but not as long.
Is it harmful to the baby if im taking antibiotics for bronchitis? And I am only about 1 month .
Tylenol cold/flu. Mucinex (AMAZING), Robitussin. But ask your doctor to maybe prescribe an antibiotic to speed up the getting better process. Feel better soon.
A couple of days ago, I contract something outside and the next day, I began having serious chills, stuffy nose, chest feeling stuffy, etc. Then the next day, it got worse (and yes, I took medicine for flu/cold) with coughing up (I'm presuming) some bloody mucus several times (it's more like a rust color), dry coughing mostly, severe chest congestion (Robatusson {sp?} doesn't work), and severe congestion in my nose.
