1101860 tn?1258542188 Hi, If you do not smoke or if you are not taking any medications, differentials that need to be ruled out are infection, allergies, heartburn and asthma. Your medical history and complete physical examination are initially done by your doctor. And depending on the results, additional tests may be done.Chest x-ray or blood tests will help rule out infection while pulmonary tests are needed to rule out asthma. Talk to your doctor about this and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn with chest infections the coughing gets worse when you lay down, go in and out of the cold, is wheesy, sometimes with mucus, and it is quite a bad chest infection when is starts getting crackly. also coughing can be so frequent, hard or violent it can cause bad headaches. you really need to see a doctor. the longer you leave it the worse it will get. if you leave it too long you will struggle to breath. especially with asthma, chest infections when left can be dangerous.
Avatar f tn Basically, I had a bowl of soup (from a tin) and a couple of cheese sandwiches for dinner then sat and watch tv. Shortly after my asthma attack kicked in. I had only a smidging of my ventolin inhaler left which didn't really do anything. I think this time my attack got quite severe as I got quite bad chest pains as I struggled to breath. Eventually, it just started to clear and a couple of hours later I was fine. But, for the really bad chest and neck pains.
Avatar n tn I have noticed that every time I get a cold, during and for some time after that I can start coughing uncontrollably when exposed to organic solvents. It is nothing life threatening, more of an inconvenience really. I work with a lot of organic solvents like xylene, methyl isobutyl ketone, and isopropyl alcohol. Whenever I happen to inhale some of the solvent vapours I get the urge to cough. This usually only happens after I've had the flu or cold.
Avatar m tn Perhaps that is what you are feeling in your leg muscles and chest muscles. But the best would be to see a pulmonary specialist and get your asthma re-evaluated to see what is the best treatment for you.
Avatar f tn I would go talk to your doctor. You could have asthma but I am not a dr so I can't tell you that. My son has asthma and when his is acting up he starts coughing and he can't get his breath so he has to have a breathing treatment. But alot of people when they have asthma they have trouble breathing and their chest gets tight. The vog could be causing your problems. When the allegry count is up he has all kinds of problems with his, and he can't be outside when the air is bad.
Avatar n tn many times there meds was not helping now im going to see him in the hospital he has been admitted that is the first thing they tell everyone asthma i do not want to see someone else put costly and dangerous meds into them
1953268 tn?1454815040 ve described here, and insist on having a chest exam. Green mucus can be a sign of infection. Chest pain should never be ignored, and should definitely be looked at by a physician in order to rule out any thing serious. Years ago, I had symptoms much like yours, but I chose to skip the doctors visit and stay home. It turned out that I had bronchitis, then developed pneumonia.
327369 tn?1326119908 We have been hospitalized three times since 15 months of age. He is three this month. Every single time he gets a chest cold we end up in the ER and he gets pnuemonia so quick. Literally one day his lungs will be clear, maybe slight wheezing and then BAHM he has pneumonia. It is not controlled at all with the plan when a cold comes and none of the treatments work. Is this how asthma is for some people or is something more serious going on. I am just so concerned. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Our peds dr. sent us for chest x-rays to rule out pnuemonia. After the x-ray, he called me and said that there was no pnuemonia, but that he might have asthma. He also said they saw a lymphopathy in the hilar area of the chest. He was unable to give me any more info at the time. Is a chest x-ray a good indicator of asthma? Should I be concerned about his enlarged lymph nodes? They did not put us on any kind of antibiotic, and we don't have an appointment for almost a month.
Avatar f tn I'm asthmatic and I really can't afford to be sick and trigger my asthma. Are there any suggestions on what I can take? I heard I was able to take sedated but don't want to run out to Walgreens if I can't.
Avatar f tn I have this tightness in my chest i kno its mucus but i dont have a cough or cold it hurts when i try to take a deep breath ive never had chest congestion before im not coughing up blood or anything like that. ive been using my asthma pump because when i was younger i had trouble with asthma it helps clearing my airways so i can breath easier but it comes back after awhile. Help?
Avatar f tn I never use it more than once or twice a week, and never on a regular basis. I think it works in the cold because it relaxes your chest.
Avatar m tn The sensation is like when you have a chest cold and you cough, burning like the lungs are irritated. I am currently on Advair 250 and my peak flows rarely fall below 75% of my max, and never near my "red" zone. Still, I get this burning sensation and sometimes just general chest discomfort. I do not usually experience shortness of breath or wheezing at the same time. Sometimes using my rescue inhaler offers relief, sometimes not. I awake at night with this discomfort too.

Avatar m tn The CTA Chest scan shows clear lungs and the heart and pulmonary vasculature is normal. My question to you is: What else can be the problem? Please, I will appreaciate your professional advise or analysis.
1089149 tn?1256735542 i get cold first then get sore throat, then my chest burns and cough starts off. this leads to breathing problems and any work done is related to breathing excessively.
Avatar m tn Cold is not usually associated with all you listed out. Though it comes with cold or winter season often or with somebody that responds to change of temperature readily. All the things you said shows more of allergy, it now depends on if you have a family history of such or is just occuring to you.
Avatar n tn I have tightness of chest and sudden wake up and difficult in breathing in the night not in the morning, when i wake up i try to open the door to get fress air. some times i fell tightness of chest in the day also.
Avatar m tn I am 22 and was 19 when I was diagnosed with asthma. I had all of these symptoms, except for the cold feeling in my throat. I went to the ER and my oxygen saturation was also within the normal range. The ER doctor put me on a nebulizer and I felt better afterwards. She also suggested that I may have atypical asthma, meaning that I don't present with the normal symptoms. She referred me to a pulmonologist and lo and behold, I have moderate asthma!
Avatar f tn t walk too fast in the winter because when you walk more you breath more and the sharp air is more harsh on the breathing when have asthma and it only makes it more hard to breath and also dress worm and take it easy wile you are out, take slower, not fast, slower breaths and hope and pray it works for you cause it worked for me.
Avatar m tn There are many different types of arrhythmias, some of which need little or no therapy and others more aggressive management, such as with surgery, catheter procedures or drugs. The breathlessness and chest pain could also be due to Asthma. And pain in turn can raise the pulse rate. So, you will need to consult your doctor for proper management of the arrhythmias and asthma to resolve your symptoms. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
942934 tn?1268108382 Never diagnosed though till 25 years old. My asthma diagnosis has always been in question. Allergies/asthma runs in my family and my daughter has asthma. Now my understanding of asthma is that the diurnal variations in peak flows should be greater then 20%. I don't think I've ever measured more then 15%. My doctors never have really heard wheezing in my chest, except some when I'm full of mucous and down about 50% of best peak flow. I've been to two different respirologists.
Avatar f tn I'm about 6 to 8 weeks pregnant and have a very bad chest cold I'm having a hard time breathing and can't stop coughing what can I take or do?
Avatar f tn I'm a 22 year old female with asthma, I’ve had it since i was 2 years of age. Recently I’ve been getting pain in my chest, it's not like the normal asthma pains and it's been worrying me for a little wile. The pain is like a sharp stab in the middle or sometimes to the left of my chest but it's constantly there, it has affected my back when my shoulder blades are too, on other occasions it dose restrict my breathing a little but not enough to call it an emergency.
Avatar m tn I have recently tried out smoking since my asthma isn't so severe, I don't take controler medicines on a regular basis not even rescue inhalers. The only time I get asthma flare-ups are right after a cold or the flu. I haven't smoked much, maybe 2-4 on one day for 2 weekends. That's the first pack I ever bought, on occasion I have taken maybe one or two from a person. But after the last I got severe chest pain lasting trough out the week.
