380558 tn?1309042387 Good luck to you and please do keep us posted. Chantix is how I quit smoking and I have been "quit" for 3 mths. 3 weeks & 4 days. I smoked for nearly 38 yrs. and had never quit before so I would say it is pretty amazing that I have quit! This forum is full of "chantix talk" so make sure you read up on it.
Avatar m tn I am a BIG proponent of Chantix as a cessation aid. I took them and had absolutely ZERO problem leaving them alone once I put them down. I quit for a year and then due to family tragedy, slipped and that''s all she wrote. It's like you never quit after that first cigarette. At least for me. So if your friend is looking for something to make her actually quit, Chantix is the way to go.
Avatar m tn I hear chantix is a miracle drug for those who want to quit smoking. I think they are the same company that makes some antidepressants. However, I also read that people became suicidal on it and heard that people actually commited suicide. I have severe anxiety and other related mental problems and am so scared to take that drug but I need to quit smoking. Anyone who is on antidepressants took chantix?
334876 tn?1229979296 Contact your doctor immediately if you experience changes in behavior, agitation, depressed mood, or have thought about or have tried to hurt yourself while trying to quit smoking with CHANTIX, or if your family or caregiver observes these symptoms." This quit smoking aid has worked for people and I don't want you to think that I am saying you should not take it...I REALLY HOPE IT WORKS FOR YOU...
Avatar m tn I was wondering if anyone knows if this could be caused by the Chantix that I am using as an aid in stopping smoking or if this could possibly be from quitting smoking all together. Is it an increase in blood flow? Any help or input would be greatly appreciated.
393419 tn?1228447393 I have a question for anyone on synthroid who used Chantix as an aid to quit smoking. Have you had any reactions between the synthroid & chantix? I really want to quit smoking. . .I quit for 2 months prior to my surgery and for about 2 months after, but alas I started again. . .I checked a drug interaction web site and it didn't list any interactions, but I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience. Also, former smokers who didn't use chantix, what worked for you?
Avatar f tn i am proud of giving up and will never go back to smoking and would help anyone who wants to quit,,,,and thank you for ur reply
Avatar m tn I too quit with Chantix and my side effects were minimal......bad dreams and a little stomach upset, but it was a small price to pay for getting back my life, which, after smoking for 40 years I never thought would or could happen : ) In addition to Chantix, I also found whyquit.com, which supports a "cold turkey" quit....everyone has access to the articles regardless of the method you choose to aid in your quit.
Avatar f tn I used Chantix for my quit but had no ill side effects. Hindsight, I probably wouldn't use it again because of all the negativity so what I would suggest is if you have already gone 2 days without a smoke, you might want to consider stopping the Chantix. You are still going to have a physical withdrawal regardless of how long you use the pill though I don't know to what degree, all I can say is that I had a rough go of it.
596605 tn?1369946627 Hi I am on Chantix to quit smoking and quit a few days ago. I am very tired so tierd that I cant even turn on the TV.. Is this a normal side effect from going off nicotine? This is the third day that has been like this. I was a heavy smoker before at 1 1/2 packs a day for 30 plus years.
Avatar f tn Need to quit smoking I have been smoking since I was 18 years old and I am now 41
380558 tn?1309042387 That's great you got off of that horrible Ultram. I too quit smoking 4 months ago with chantix and still take it. I stopped once and smoked again for a few days so for now, I'm taking 1 pill a day and not having any bad effects.
Avatar m tn I quit smoking using Chantix as well. I am only 1 month non-smoking. I only took Chantix for 9 days as on the 9th day I found out i was pregnant. So I was non smoking and pregnant, to only two weeks later miscarry. I am not too sure if its from the hormones, or from the symptoms of not smoking, but i was extremely irritable, it was almost to the point that everything i that came out of my mouth was snappy. I developed insomnia right from the get go from Chantix.
Avatar f tn ) It sounds like ur friends that told you about this 4 week program were on some sort of aid. When you quit using like chantix or zyban you smoke for the first 2 weeks. When you smoke the nicotine binds to receptors in your body that carry the nicotine to your brain that's where the cravings come in. In these medications they block those receptors from carrying the nicotine to the brain.
540521 tn?1221699706 d like to say good for you for trying to quit. When I quit smoking on Aug 8th, 2007 I decided to quit Cold Turkey, Told my self if that doesnt work I'll try for the patch, or something else to help me quit. Thankfully quitting cold turkey worked for me, I'll tell ya it wasn't easy, it was the hardest thing i ever had to do. First few days were hell for me but I started feeling a little better as time went by.
Avatar m tn CHANTIX should not be taken with other quit-smoking products. You may need a lower dose of CHANTIX if you have kidney problems or get dialysis." It looks to me like it's the kidneys but ask a doctor to be sure about that and any other problem we might not think about as patients.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone! I quit in June 07 after smoking for about 13 years. I just started again around the holidays, I figured I could be the "social" smoker, well I was wrong. It has now been 3 months of smoking again and I am getting all my "pains" back. Chest pains, arm pains, leg pains, the SOB and the dizziness....I am only 29 years old too. I have all the tests to check my heart and circulatory system out...no problems. Why am I having such a hard time quitting again?

Avatar f tn I decided to join this forum today as it is my Quit day. Long story but I started smoking at 15 and I will be 36 on the 16th. My husband quit cold turkey at Christmas. I am taking Chantix. I started it once before and it was starting to work but I didn't stick with it. This time I am dedicated to never smoking again. I have had a hard time in the past becuase I feel sooo sick the first couple of days and I hate that feeling. This time I have decided to just deal with it.
