Chantix how long to take

Common Questions and Answers about Chantix how long to take

chantix

This is going on the 2nd full day of no Chantix but I am still feeling depressed. I want to know how long does it stay in your system for. I woke up today and felt close to normal and then it came back again. I had depression 16 years ago, which started off with post pardom depression that lead into severe depression which this is feeling way too familiar to that and I do NOT want to go through that again.

I am hoping the Chantix will start kicking in more and give me the strength to avoid the temptation to smoke. I have only been on Chantix for 4 days...was hoping to not be on it long since it makes me dizzy and nauseous...seems I really need it!
Why I feel the need to do everything at once, I don't know, but I guess when the time is right, it's right. For those of you who have had success with Chantix, how long did it take before smoking started to be less appealing physically and psychologically - I have heard that happens during the first week while you are still smoking. I have a pretty bad headache today - is that a side effect? Any other words of wisdom will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
He said i can have his month and half worth but i dont think a month and half is long enough to take it. So i was going to get it prescribed to me. But before I do i was wondering if there are any rating of it from you all?
how long are you going to take it for? does it make you feel any different? well i am with shelby on sub..I can't do this, i can't function.
Well Congrats to you!!!! I could not take the med and had to go cold but hey! Im all for anything that works, whatever that might be! Keep going and take one day at a time! That is awesome!
Im just wondering if it is OK to take them together. I just want to find out as much as i can befor i start chantix. Please give me as much info as possible.
I've also been smoke free for a few months and taking chantix. I still take one pill a day. I have a long family history of tabacco addiction so to be on the safe side, my doc suggests I take it for a longer time.
I too have migraines and have not had a problem until I started taking the Chantix to quit smoking. I am at the point that I will try other methods before I will continue to take the Chantix. Because I cannot function with my head pounding like this.
have wanted to for a long time. Does Chantix work, how well, how long did ya smoke, how many packs. How long does it take to work. I could use and would really appreciate any info on the matter. I've gone cold turkey befor but this 49 year old Bird aint as tough as she used to be. I did defer the Subloxone for hydro w/d tho after research. Any success stories would be most graciusly received.
we'll see. How are you doin? How long have you been on the chantix? Hope ya have a great weekend.
OH! I almost forgot to ask, ALSO- how long does it take for Chantix to get into your system and start rejecting the nicotine?? I swear, it's only been two days, and it's already working! but, I could be wrong.. When do the withdrawal symptoms from the nicotine actually go away?
I just saw this post and wanted to tell you that my parents (my mom has been longer that my dad) are both on Chantix. I don't know how long you have been on it but she says it's a absolute miracle drug to help with the cravings. She has quit cold turkey before and said this is just NOTHING compared to that. It has helped both of them tremendously. I just wanted to offer that I could call and ask her if she has any suggestions for you to make it a little easier.
i have been on chantix for a very long time now and i have taken it in spite of all its dangers because my ceasing to smoke is the most important thing in the world. i do not doubt that some people have had seizures, i know that i haven't been prone to them at all. if i am setting myself up for seizures in the future, i should know that too. despite the long duration i've been on it, no seizures at all. i highly recommend nicotine replacement therapy -- patches.
Hi Deenie, You didn't say how long you have been taking the Chantix? I used it for a 1 1/2 months without any symptoms that I was aware of. How much are you smoking and are you getting ready to set a date on your quit? My quit was gradual, cutting back a few smokes every day until I was down to about 4. The day I quit was when I realized I had consistantly held out for the "first smoke" until early afternoon. That's when I knew I was ready.
Is it true you have strange dreams while on chantix? Can you take chantix while pregnant, planning to become pregnant, taking clomid? Anyone know?
Appears to chat more about fibromyalgia problems, but several mentioned thyroid issues. The two girls I spoke to face-to-face had no thyroid issues until taking Chantix. My GP told me to not take it after chatting with another doctor. Got some blood results this a.m. and doctor again stated to not start the Chantix. I took Chantix back in January/February last year and problems began in April. There is a tort (legal) site also. If you want them, I'll have to go look them up.
my nose was itchy for weeks but I hung in got through it and the yukky stomach I also had from time to time. Other than that, I was amazed at how quickly Chantix made me crave less and less. For me, it was that "miracle" drug but there are many who would dispute that. All I know is that it worked for me and I am very grateful! I smoked for nearly 40 years and I thought I would die smoking.
i don't know what to suggest to you. i do know that this drug is absolutely over prescribed. i don't know what percentage of the population experiences extremely negative reactions to this drug...but i do know that there are a large number of bad stories related to it. my opinion of chantix is that it should be last resort, not front line treatment. for some people chantix makes the addiction less than what it is without chantix...it makes it easier to quit.
I'm going to play the devils advocate here and ask you how you know that Chantix caused all of your problems? You ailments may be coincindental and there are plenty of people who have problems at your age who have never taken the drug. I used Chantix and quit with it after nearly 2 months on it. I am 54 and had no problems at all. I have noticed complaints about the "during and aftermath" of Chantix but no one can definitively link it to the drug.
How long have you been taking Chantix and have you totally quit yet? I am still striving to put that LAST cigarette out, not only for my overall health, but so I can visit that plastic surgeon to get the "excess part" of me, thrown in a trash can somewhere. So much hanging skin. The side affect of a large weight loss. The only down side, as a matter of fact. My age doesn't help with good skin elasticity either. I'm getting so old....
how long does it take to get nicotine out of your system & is there anything you can do to help speed up the progress? How long can nicotine be detected with a saliva test ?
I also tried the chantix, I was so surprised how i didn't want to smoke at all..but them in a couple days i got so nauseated, i was sick to my stocach..Long story short, my doctor said i was probably in the 2% that got sick on it...I sure wish i would not have been so sick , Because i agree, It works..Sounds like your tapering is going well...I also get migranes and take imitrex, but my doctor explain to me about rebound heaches, caused by overuse of meds...
I noticed she had a new script for it the other day so I don't know if you need to continue to take it or if she got it cause we are going to mexico and everyone smokes there and she needed a safety net
What you have to do is weigh the positives against the negatives and remember that you smoked for years and it became habit so now you have to expect that it's going to take a while to undo all those years. I highly recommend that you read the articles at whyquit.com. Here is one that keeps me from smoking and it may be a help to you: The Smoker’s Vow With this puff I enslave myself to a lifetime of addiction.
Your "want to" has got to catch up to your "need to" and then you will have a good shot at quitting. In order for it to be successful, you must truly want it......like anything in life : ) Prepare yourself by reading the articles at whyquitdotcom. Joel's library has wonderful articles that really address any and all issues you might have. In addition, they support a "cold turkey" quit.
That's why I don't provide information on how to obtain it. Ever. In fact I signed up to sites where people were self medicating with it and told them not to. As for the idea that glycine as an adjunct is being used in a Phase II FDA study that's a fact. And that the glutamate antagonists are overall are a more effacacious agent. That's a fact as well. People will have to wait. But the link to either study is factual. Tardive psychosis is a criteria that's been identified in me.
but only thing i can take. tylenol does nothing for me. never did. and i am allergic to aspirin. aspirin truly upsets my stomach anyway. i can do ibuprofen in moderation and be ok. but i was taking 4 every 4 hrs. with this abcess. well when you dont have insurance nor finances, you do the best you can. researched abcess tooth on internet. i knew about the rinsing with warm water and salt. i was already doing that. old remedy my grandmother told me years ago.
just curious....how long have you been taking Chantix, and can you stop taking Chantix without the need to have either a cigarette or a Chantix 'fix'??
