Chantix half life

Common Questions and Answers about Chantix half life

chantix

Avatar f tn I was taking Chantix for about a week and a half when I had to quit it because I was experiencing depression which was getting worse by the day. This is going on the 2nd full day of no Chantix but I am still feeling depressed. I want to know how long does it stay in your system for. I woke up today and felt close to normal and then it came back again.
Avatar n tn Been on Chantix for 1 month...a week and a half ago I noticed my breast were tender...felt like i was 14 again...they are swelling...a whole cup size now...
984138 tn?1359813073 Hey My dad had like a month and half of chantix left it didnt work for him well he didnt really try that hard though! But i was wondering if anyone else had tryd that? He said i can have his month and half worth but i dont think a month and half is long enough to take it. So i was going to get it prescribed to me. But before I do i was wondering if there are any rating of it from you all?
444932 tn?1273980797 The doc said that it was possible that I could have an allergic reaction after 10 days on it b/c it slowly builds up in your system. Its half-life is 24 hours so that it maintains a steady supply of whatever the active ingredient is that makes you not want to smoke. Even on day 10, my cravings/desire to smoke had not diminished and I had not completely quit smoking. I had cut down some and just started noticing the day I had to quit that cigs tasted bad. I wish you luck.
Avatar m tn t have any side effects from Chantix and I took it for a month and a half. Oh, yes, after the 1st month I did have a bit of an upset stomach but truly nothing serious. So sorry to hear of your miscarriage : ( Maybe you should send an e-mail to the makers of chantix and see if they can give you an estimate of how long your symptons should last.
Avatar n tn I have been on Chantix . My breast are swollen and tender. Has anyone else had this side effect. Not from my periods - had a hysterectomy 15 years ago.
444932 tn?1273980797 I am now on day number 8 of taking Chantix - still smoking but have cut back. Yesterday, I started the 1 mg twice per day dose and within an hour of my a.m. dose, started itching like crazy. Benedryl gives some relief. It continued throughout the night and this morning. I do not have hives, difficulty breathing or anything like that - just itching that is driving me crazy. Anyone else had this problem with chantix?
596605 tn?1369946627 She recommended that I cut my Chantix dose in half, if it continues. So yes i am working very closely with my doc. Thanks for the kudos, the Chantix has really helped me , knock on wood.
Avatar f tn Hello, Chantix (varenicline) and Zyban (bupropion) are the only two non-nicotine medications approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for smoking cessation; both are available in pill form and only by prescription. Chantix received FDA approval in 2006; Zyban was approved in 1997. These drugs can be effective tools, but users need to be aware of some potentially serious side effects. You can try that and they are very cheap in some pharmacy's.

1134609 tn?1269272200 The side effects mentally, emotionally and physically have been so bad that my Dr. advised talk half a dose or quit. Chantix had been working as far as my not having severe cravings to smoke, so I dosed down and also started a slow wean to avoid the horror of Chantix wihdrawal as well as the nicotine withdrawal. Chantix did nothing to relieve physical symptoms.
Avatar f tn and my problem is i dont want to quite but i have to. it would make my life so much easyer. Im always worrying when or if i will get my next smoke. I would call myself a tasker and my reward is a smoke. I will tell myself if i clean the kitchen then i can have a smoke, or if i got to get up and make dinner then i can reward myself with a smoke. my DR, is putting me on chantix does it work or am i waisting my money?
Avatar f tn The half-life of a drug is how long it takes for half of it to be eliminated from the bloodstream. Hope that helps.
6298176 tn?1380134459 It has a very long half life, though I can't give you specifics. The dose and how long you were on it does factor in. Your doctor should be able to help you with your questions on this.
432312 tn?1265644974 I have been bi polar all my life... DX since I was 16... 380558 tn?1309042387 They said that after 72 hours on the Chantix (because Chantix blocks the nicotine from entering the receptors and the nicotine will be out of the system within 72 hours as well) I shouldn't be feeling any major cravings after.. So, it should be alot easier by tomorrow.. :D.. just go to the website, you'll get a whole read up on it.. :D.. it's WORTH taking! Everyone else.. thanks so much for your encouragement and support! I'm so glad I logged on today! Love you all!
Avatar n tn My experience with Chantix was pretty good but I stopped taking Chantix after my third quit day. All total, a month and a half, and I didn't look back. It is 4 months today and I had some severe reactions to my quit....2 sinus infections, pneumonia & pleurisy. I have never been sick like that but I am told that it is coincidental and has nothing to do with my quit.....hmm.......
427279 tn?1210919821 i was just wondering if any one here uses chantix and is it helping you?....
334876 tn?1229979296 s time to quit being the Marlboro man and quit smoking, my doc finally gave me the rx for chantix so I guess this is day one and I should see how good it works in about 7 days as it tends to taper off the well to smoke Wish me luck Cowboy
Avatar f tn I, too, smoked for over 40 years. Between that and severe acid reflux, I had built up excess tissue on my vocal cords, to the point that I could hardly talk. I'd gotten to the point that it was so painful to even make sound that I tried not to talk as much as possible. I was sent to an ENT, who said he could remove that tissue (it wasn't cancer, but he was sure it would be soon), but he wouldn't touch me until I had quit smoking for 2 months.
664798 tn?1225821618 Considering Chantix. I take Trileptal 600mg 2x per day. I have not had epilepsy all my life just started one day about 7-10yrs ago (in my30's). Now Trileptal on occassions makes me very dizzy. It gets to the point I get very nauseaed 'cause the room is spinning so fast. That is only on occassion. So considering Chantix and want to know if anyone has used it and found it works without effecting their epilepsy or their epilepsy medication(s).
444932 tn?1273980797 I just started taking Chantix yesterday. I have heard lots of great things about this medication and how much it helps, but I've also heard lots of scary things - bad dreams, depression, suicidal/homicidal thoughts, hallucinations. Obviously, I chose to ignore all those things and take it anyway b/c I know me and I know that I need something pretty powerful to help me quit. I also quit taking pain pills four days ago.
Avatar m tn AS some of you may know now, Im going on 9 days clean from a high vicodin habit on and off (mostly on) for 4 years. I'm trying to cut all the deadweight out of my life and trying to battle 2 addictions within 2 weeks of eachother. That said, I plan on quitting smoking with help from CHANTIX. (I got them from my Doctor several weeks ago....while I was on my long taper from Hydro). The Dr. does not know about the hydro abuse, just the smoking (obviously).
Avatar m tn First thing...stop the Chantix. Yes, in many people even those with no history of major depression Chantix is proven to have the potential to cause depression. There are better ways to stop smoking than to alter your brain chemistry.
Avatar m tn i know its listed but i only seem to have recently got it and iam wondering if it is a sx of chantix, (note i only got this symptom when i STOPPED taking chantix) about two weeks after , i often have it most days i feel dizzy mildly for hours at a time but not so dizzy i fall over, also feel slightly car sick (when not driving) oddly i never feel dizzy when driving!
Avatar n tn i've been quit for over 3 weeks now. i'm using chantix....it's amazing how well it works for me. if i dont' take one...i feel it in a few hours...if i do....quitting is rather easy (well easier than it has been in the past). BTW....5 years will turn into 26 years before you even know it. time flies by and when you hit your 30's you'll be on the sideline huffing and puffing, watching as it goes by. look...either way...whether you are 21 or 41 quitting feels the same.
