chantix

Avatar m tn I quit smoking using Chantix as well. I am only 1 month non-smoking. I only took Chantix for 9 days as on the 9th day I found out i was pregnant. So I was non smoking and pregnant, to only two weeks later miscarry. I am not too sure if its from the hormones, or from the symptoms of not smoking, but i was extremely irritable, it was almost to the point that everything i that came out of my mouth was snappy. I developed insomnia right from the get go from Chantix.
407029 tn?1253992623 I took Chantix 2 months before I finished my first round of treatment. I was smoke free within 3 weeks of starting the Chantix and on March 4, 2008 I will be smoke free for an entire year! They recommend that you use the Chantix for 3 to 6 months. I did so well with it that I was off it in less than 3 months. When you start forgetting to take it you know it's time to come off it. If I could, I we be a walking advertisement for Chantix.
Avatar f tn ve been smoke free for over a year without it. I know a lot of peole get side effects from chantix but not much for me. I took it steadily for about 9 month and stopped about 5-6 weeks ago. I started having cravings again and broke down and paid for a re fill. That first pill worked fast and really helped with any cravings. I will take it as needed for however long and try to always have some on hand.
Avatar n tn Been on Chantix for 1 month...a week and a half ago I noticed my breast were tender...felt like i was 14 again...they are swelling...a whole cup size now...
984138 tn?1359813073 Hey My dad had like a month and half of chantix left it didnt work for him well he didnt really try that hard though! But i was wondering if anyone else had tryd that? He said i can have his month and half worth but i dont think a month and half is long enough to take it. So i was going to get it prescribed to me. But before I do i was wondering if there are any rating of it from you all?
Avatar f tn Congrats to both. I too am smoke free, about 12 weeks now. Its been a really rough road, I wasnt one of the lucky ones. Hubby was. Off the board I've heard a lot of complaints about people not being able to take the side effects of taking the drug. Nothing about withdrawl from the drug.
Avatar f tn Have you tried Chantix? If you have ins go to your doctor and ask him for chantix. It's a rx designed to block the nicotine receptors. You smoke while taking the med the first week and then you stop smoking, but continue the medicine. After the first week you will notice the cravings are mental but not so much physical. You can google "chantix" and you can learn more about it. I am 30 and have smoking since 12, it's the hardest habit to break.
444932 tn?1273980797 wow...i never thought of the chantix making me itch...hmmm. I've been itching the past couple days...thought it was from stress...and it very well might be as it has happened to me before. However, i've been on the chantix since November 6th...so a little more than a month...i took it once before and don't recall itching... oh well....so I'll scratch like a cat with fleas for a little bit...i'm smoke and nicotine free, so I'll take it.
228936 tn?1249094248 I started almost a year ago and chantix which made it easier. Now I don't have the same Rx plan and haven't been taking it and really notice the craving. When I see people buy ciggs or smoke I miss it. I'm not that close to caving in and smoking just dissapointed to still miss it.
Avatar n tn I would not think that Chantix would affect your thyroid, but everyone is different. Are you still taking Chantix? I am assuming not. ALso, I feel compelled to mention that I too had the symptoms you had, except for the trouble breathing, and my vitamin D level was extremely deficient. You may want to get that checked. Wishing you the best.
393419 tn?1228447393 I was fatigued (another possible effect of thyroid) and the chantix gave me more energy. I eased into the chantix and when I was near the end of the treatment, I weaned off slowly. My husband also took Chantix, but right after he started, he read some of the articles about some possible side effects and he panicked and in spite of my warnings, stopped it cold turkey. At the same time, he quit taking his anti-depressant and I can't describe the problems he had.
Avatar f tn t want to quit, or so I thought. I was absolutely to weak to do it and then I heard about Chantix. (read my post titled "everyone") My quit happened because I doubted that there was anything on the market that could help me and here was something that said they were 44% successful. I thought for sure that I was in that 56% that couldn't and so I took them. The first month I smoked when I wanted to.
Avatar m tn Most people take it for about a month and then don't need it anymore. There is no chantix fix. It doesn't give you anything it just cuts cravings .
Avatar n tn I have been on Chantix . My breast are swollen and tender. Has anyone else had this side effect. Not from my periods - had a hysterectomy 15 years ago.
Avatar f tn I will tell myself if i clean the kitchen then i can have a smoke, or if i got to get up and make dinner then i can reward myself with a smoke. my DR, is putting me on chantix does it work or am i waisting my money?
Avatar f tn I'm one year clean next month - was on sub. for 6 weeks to detox. I felt fine on Chantix - though I've since heard reports of folks with the problems you mentioned. Fortunately I haven't relapsed on drugs - unfortunately, well, the smoking....
596605 tn?1369946627 Hi I am on Chantix to quit smoking and quit a few days ago. I am very tired so tierd that I cant even turn on the TV.. Is this a normal side effect from going off nicotine? This is the third day that has been like this. I was a heavy smoker before at 1 1/2 packs a day for 30 plus years.
Avatar f tn I started having problems in Oct 2008 after taking Chantix for about a month. I quit taking the meds because I had a really bad reaction to it. I was angry, very emotional and thought of suicide. I have never been this way before and didn't like so I stopped the med. About a month later I had an episode where I was having slurred speech (alot) and I would drive to work and then sit there and think "how did I get here". I couldnt remember driving. This lasted or about a month.
Avatar f tn I used Chantix twice several years ago. The first time I quit for 3 months. The second time I felt really sick. I still don't know if it was thyroid or the Chantix. I am disappointed that a doctor would not be very supportive. Especially with a nicotine addiction - it was almost like giving me permission to smoke! I am going to do this! At first I was using the vaporizer cigarette to break the habit. We can do this no matter how much is stacked against us right!
432312 tn?1265644974 t disclose this to her new GP. After a month of taking the Chantix, she ended up in hospital for 2 weeks, highly suicidal and having swings. She refuses to acknowledge that she has BP though and blames it solely on the Chantix.
Avatar f tn I got a month supply of my Ability and Celexa for free through an AMAZING program who will help for a whole with medication and treatment :-)
Avatar n tn my wife is taking chantix to stop smoking and when she finishes the first month of chantix can she then take welbutrin as it is not as strong. The chantix is giving her bad dreams.
444932 tn?1273980797 I quit (5 months) using Chantix and it wasn't until the 2nd month that I even attempted to quit. I smoked for 38 years and like you, my addiction was very powerful. It wasn't until the 3rd week that I noticed my intake was lessened. By the end of the first month, I was down to 6 or 7 cigs a day. 2 weeks into my 2nd month is when I quit. I had sucessfully went about 6 hours before lighting that first one and so I decided that if I could go that long why not just stop : ) Side effects....
Avatar f tn I am a 32 year old female and was in excellent health (except for my smoking) until December. I took chantix one for a month last march to quit, fell off the wagon and started it again last december and quit for good. Since then I have had Heart palpitations and speeding up,a constant headache that doesn't go away, dizziness, confusion, trouble breathing, and pain behind my eyes. I have had every test and they can find nothing.
950277 tn?1247274551 My mother in law went on the chantix program. She was a smoker of over 50 years. She has been on Chantix for 3months. She actually lights her smoke but does not smoke it. She does this twice daily. She really has quit. It is amazing!
