Chantix and dizziness

Common Questions and Answers about Chantix and dizziness

chantix

all drugs have tons of side effects and listed and unproven problems. I know chantix has some, stomach, depression effectsbut never heard of the heart palpatations or the other stuff. I have been taking it for over a year with just about no problems. I only take a few a week and it has been a big help to me.
I took chantix for 1 1/2 months and experienced a little gas but that was all. I quit taking chantix 3 days after my last cigarette and that was 9 months 1 week and 4 days ago. I think I should consider myself one of the lucky ones as all I hear on this board is how bad chantix was for them! Outside of this board, I knew a dozen or so people who took it, and none of them had anything more serious then gas and bad dreams! I hope you start feeling better real soon and I hope that you have quit.
The family doctor has finally agreed that these symptoms are negative effects of the chantix and he needs to go on anxiety med and see a counselor. I have read on other blogs that other users are still fighting symptoms after years off that drug. Has anyone else been fighting the effects of this awful drug? We are emotionally devastated to see what was once a strong, healthy, active young man turn into a bundle of nerves and anxiety.
I've had a great deal of blood work done - all normal, I've had an EKG and MRI with dye - all normal. The only medication that I take is/has been chantix, as I am a "recovering" smoker, if I may use the term. At this point, I think describing it as feeling cross-eyed is most appropriate, but I don't have blurry vision, and my eyes don't physically cross. I also have 20/20 vision.
The Xanax is starting to work a little and I can sit here and type--and breathe! I am just so tired of this! I wish I had a different symptom of anxiety, like just tingling hands or an occasional racing heart--okay I don't want any of these either!--but when I feel like one of my most basic life fuctions is being threatened-respiration-I am sent into a full blown panic attack. It is sooo terrifying.
I started taking chantix yesterday and today being my second day am experiencing dizziness. Any suggestions? Also feeling very shaky.
It was my 30th Birthday early Feb and I had taken the week off of work to chill out and simply enjoy some downtime, but then ended up rushing myself to hospital because I was getting heart palpitations, chest pains, hot and cold flushes and dizziness. I went down and waited 4 hours to not be seen by anyone, but by this time it was midnight and I was feeling a little more stable, so just got up and went home to try and sleep it off.
I tried the patch one time and it made me sick feeling and I took it off, but - I may have been imagining the nausea and dizziness with the patch, but - it kind of scared me away from the patch. They do work for many people. You can buy them OTC now. But ask your doc before you go slapping on a patch or chewing on the gum.
The reality is that these drugs - Chantix and antidepressants (which includes Zyban, which is the drug Buproprion also known as Wellbutrin) interact with our brain chemistry and Chantix has not been around long enough to have comprehensive and conclusive long term reasearch evidence (researches talk that basically means we don't know what we may find way down the road and all new Rx's have this risk).
i have a sinus infection, i am experiencing flashes of dizziness that last a split second. i am on activella for menopause and also effexor xr, i am also taking chantix to stop smoking. could you tell me anything about my dizziness?
hi fellow sufferers, just wondering if anyone else suffers from dizziness and or nausea? i know its listed but i only seem to have recently got it and iam wondering if it is a sx of chantix, (note i only got this symptom when i STOPPED taking chantix) about two weeks after , i often have it most days i feel dizzy mildly for hours at a time but not so dizzy i fall over, also feel slightly car sick (when not driving) oddly i never feel dizzy when driving!
Chest pains, arm pains, leg pains, the SOB and the dizziness....I am only 29 years old too. I have all the tests to check my heart and circulatory system out...no problems. Why am I having such a hard time quitting again? Why did I ever start again? I went on vacation and that is how I quit. I changed my surroundings, my routine. I don't have anyway of doing that right now but I really, really want to quit. What worked for you?
I would also like to know when these symptoms will end....I got some dramamine tonight and took 2 right away to help with the dizziness and nausea. It really helped tremendously. I feel somewhat balanced now. Would love to know if there is some other remedies that may help; other than the obvious ones like lots of water and exercise. Help!!
* 28 years old * a pack-a-day smoker (on Chantix now, so we'll see) * 5'11 and 200lbs (muscular, though I haven't been able to exercise much since this all started) * monitored blood pressure for a month, hovered around 110/60 with a pulse of 70 * tested seropositive for HSV2 years ago, but am asymptomatic and haven't heard anything about it since * only surgery I've ever had was the removal of a pilonidal cyst in June 2006 Thanks again.
I just tried Champix this last 2 weeks, and altho it really helped make the smoking useless, the dizziness, nausia and extreme anxiety and panic for 2 weeks straight was all I could handle and I didnt take the pill last night or this morning. I am feeling better but really guys...Does anyone else have chest pain that lasts up to 3 hours? I do. last time I dealt with this for 2 months before going back to smoking.
I have these episodes where I feel my heart flutter or skip maybe a beat and it takes my breath away and then immediately panic sets in and then i shake uncontrollably and my heart rate goes up to 130 beats, this all happens before I know what is going on, within seconds, before I can stop it. This happened the other night and I had chest pains with it so I went to the ER. They did and EKG and monitored my heart for about 1/2 hour, all okay. Could this just have been a panic attack?
I seen my doctor today and he put me on Chantix. He was shocked how cold my hands were and said the smoking needs to stop ASAP! He said he thinks it may improve the sensitivity I have to the littlest bit of cold, the circulation and all. I will do anything to feel normal again.
headache, lightheadedness, muscle aches, lack of concentration, stiff neck, dizziness, drowsiness and many more... but at least...we need to learn to be stronger than others who smoke....
Hi Friends! Welcome all Tramadol warriors. We're all very glad to see you. Please come in and share.
Soon I will get back on the Chantix and quit again. The stuff works well, my problem with the sx was that I constantly felt like I had morning sickness--all day! You never have a nicotine fit with the Chantix and if you sneak one, it's really not what you want and wind up putting it out after a puff or two. Very strange how it works---on me anyway. I know how hard it is to quit-I do believe during tx is not the time.
He really managed ok for alot of years I do think he was depressed alot cause of his weight he was kinda lazy. And it was hard for him to get girl friends and have a family which he had always wanted but no one wants to hook up with someone who is not so motivated. so in my book I am not sure why he had most of those meds.
No, CIPD should be here. It is the peripheral analog of MS and it's an MS mimic. I miss you too. You always sparked such great conversations, and I worry. I'm praying that you respond well to one of the treatments and can tell us you're feeling better!!!!
There were two deaths in the group taking cytisine, from lung cancer and cardiac arrest, and three deaths in the placebo group, from lung cancer, stroke and respiratory problems. Dizziness and sleep problems were a little more common among cytisine users.
muscle spasm (especially in the neck like a choking feeling, high blood pressure, acid reflux/gerd, dizziness, blurred vision, unable to sleep, crying allot, irritability, and circulation problems. In April my PTH came back at 97.8 and then the next month it was at 48. They did a 24 hour urine that came back negative. They also said they saw a small bump on my adrenal gland that they don't feel is causing any issue.
So here I am, 66 yrs old, loss of appetite, dizziness and horrible fatigue . Thank God I only feel anxious --when I get into bed!! When I wish to sleep I start feeling anxious so that's out of the question. I don't want to switch ; that's dumb. I'm a skeptic; I believe the doctors KNOW the drugs are HORRIBLE and dangerous but without drugs why would we go see them?? So they keep prescribing. And I can't even be far from a toilet. Thank God I don't work.
I have been on many different medications for depression and tried both chantix and wellbutrin to quit smoking. I could not take the chantix due to migraines and the medication would bring them on. As with any medication the side effects differ for each person. No one is the same. Many ppl have some of the same side effects but each persons health, background, metobolism, ect is different in some way, shape, or form. Therefore cannot expect the same results as some one else.
I've been chewing Nicorette for about ten years. I chew between nine and eleven pieces of the 2mg a day. What are the harmful effects of the gum (beside, obvious addiction). And, do you have any suggestions as to how to get off the gum?
skin flushing (red skin), sometimes purple hands and feet, hot and cold sensations, dizziness, hair loss, loss of sleep, weakness, shakiness, itching, tingling, seeing stars, water retention, weight fluctuations up and down, sensations like bugs crawling under my skin. The list just goes on. I'm not completely sure that you have the same problems as I did, but It would be worth checking into. Hope you find some comfort soon.
I used Chantix to help with this process and completed the full 12 week cycle of Chantix before stopping it as prescribed about 5 weeks ago. I am happy to report I am still smoke free! However, I had gained approx. 4-5 pounds over the 3 months of Chantix/quitting.
I started experiencing dizziness off and on last night and it has continued until today. I called my doc and he said this is not normal. I'm seeing him on Friday for possible removal. We shall see.
