Avatar n tn A 77-year-old woman who developed a 2-fold increase in INR while receiving APAP with concomitant acenocoumarol (8), and a 74-year-old man experienced a 3-fold increase in INR when APAP was added to his stable warfarin regimen (6). Fluindione has also been implicated in this interaction (9). In a prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial 36 patients received either APAP 2 g daily, 4 g daily, or placebo for 4 weeks.
Avatar n tn You should contact your caregiver for advice regarding your medication as they would have your medical history, general health, etc. There is a noted drug interaction with Viagra and warfarin in certain patients. In patients who have pulmonary hypertension, there is an increased risk of bleeding when taking these medications together, etc.. Thanks for your question, take care.
Avatar m tn Pradaxa is taken twice a day, shorter life in the body and is cleared from the body quicker than coumadin (warfarin). With warfarin, Vitamin K is used to reverse overanticoagulation in patients, there is no antidote for Pradaxa. Warfarin a lot cheaper than Pradaxa. Good luck with your ablation. Hope you do well on Pradaxa! Best wishes!!
Avatar n tn Great site! I've bookmarked it for future reference. Thanks for the information.
Avatar n tn To date there have been no reports of an important interaction in humans between warfarin and clopidogrel. Nonetheless, because warfarin increases the risk of bleeding, blood tests to measure the degree to which the blood is anti-coagulated or thinned (prothrombin time; INR) may be ordered to assess the degree of blood-thinning when warfarin and clopidogrel are used together.
612551 tn?1450022175 I am a long time user of Warfarin anticoagulant because of my AFib condition. The generic Warfarin cost about $10 (Walmart for example) for a 90 supply. My wife recently had major surgery to remove cancerous organs and is required to take a daily anticoagulant for 30 days. In her case it is injected by syringe and each Cost about $50, throw away devices. That a whopping $1,500 for 30 days.
1464587 tn?1307491605 This can result in either physical or mental changes to to what is your normal modus operandi. It could also be a drug interaction - bladderwrack is a mild anticoagulant, & could enhance the effects of meds like asprin & warfarin. the body is sooooo complex, I seriously wish I had an instruction manual.

Avatar n tn Medicines like cetirizine are used to treat nasal allergies. So if one has both, the surgery itself will not make the allergies go away. Therefore, medicines like cetirizine may be needed indefinitely if symptoms are bad enough. Cetirizine is generally very well tolerated. You can look online for the list of possible side effects.
1570981 tn?1295831355 It says something about the interaction of these two drugs. And my english arent that good to translate the meaning of the words. " Fluvoxamine may also inhibit the elimination and increase the blood levels of theophylline (Theodur, Uniphyl), warfarin (Coumadin), alprazolam (Xanax), and triazolam (Halcion)." - from the web. what does this means? help!!!

Avatar n tn s not a good idea to drink with the Coumadin and yet you continue. A cursory internet search will give plenty of evidence for the interaction of warfarin and alcohol. Binge drinking will increase your INR (ie effect of warfarin) and chronic drinking will decrease INR because your liver enzymes are chronically bumped which increases metabolism of warfarin (so your body eliminates it faster and get get less effect). Don't look a scape goat.
Avatar f tn I get hives and I take something that is similar to zyrtec for it. Cetirizine 10mg given to me by my VA (veteran affairs) doctor. It's safe. Get well soon. I know the feeling and it *****.
Avatar n tn There is no interaction between Alli (Orlistat) and oral contraceptive pills. The only listed interactions Orlistat has with other medications is a heart rhythm control medication known as Amiodarone, a thyroid medication known as Levothyroxine, Fat soluble vitamins, and the blood thinner known as Warfarin. Additionally, if you have taken Orlistat and oral contraceptive pills before with no changes the likelihood of the combination having an effect on your cycle this month is very small.
Avatar f tn Given that yesterday he said to not take the warfarin he was changing me from the genertic warfarin and putting me on the brand name of the med coumadin. Said some folks do not tolerate warfarin well but do well on coumadin and i am to start the coumadin today. I would be lying if i didn't say i am a bit gunshy at this point. This med has made me absolutely miserable and today is my 43rd bday...
Avatar f tn DOES ANYONE KNOW IF WARFARIN CAN LOWER YOUR BLOOD COUNT AND AND ALSO LOWER CALCIUM AND VITAMIN D LEVELS?
Avatar n tn ve tried to read as much as I can about warfarin along the way. I even went to a day-long CEU workshop for medical professionals on warfarin management and got the certificate. But I'm still not an expert. To my way of thinking, the experts are the hematologists, pharmacists, and other health professionals who manage large numbers of people's warfarin on a daily basis.
Avatar f tn I notice there is a white head on the tip as well. really dont know what is it.. I have been taking antibiotics (a week) and cetirizine (one month) and isotrotinoin (few months time) for a while. That is strange as I assume cetirizine should help anti-allergy as doctor prescribed to me when I had other allergy on my skin - it occurs when my skin have pressure on it and it goes red and itchy, when you scatch it, it swells a big piece.
942410 tn?1274047074 Clearly your question is one for your doctor to answer. In my experience with Warfarin, and I get along well with it, aspirin is much easier to deal with if it is sufficient. I don't know the relationship between having a pacemaker and needing Warfarin. Warfarin is a blood anticoagulant (thinner) as I'm sure you know. It is taken to reduce clot formation caused by something line Atrial Fibrillation or mechanical heart valves.
