A couple hours after returning from the hospital, the hives worsened. They are spreading across her body and the itching in unbearable. Solarcaine, aloe, cool baths, etc. have little effect. This evening we returned to the hospital, and they gave her the same antihistimine and steroid IV. Tonight, the hives are still moving around and the itching is terrible.
Avatar n tn You can apply OTC steroid cream but it is only helpful if applied right away, before blisters appear, or much later, when the blisters have dried up. Compresses with cool water or Burrow’s solution (available without prescription) can help dry the ooze faster. Severe cases like extensive blistering and when rashes are present on the face may need oral steroids. But they are available only on prescription. So if the symptoms become severe then pls consult a dermatologist. Hope it helps.

Avatar n tn Medicines like cetirizine are used to treat nasal allergies. So if one has both, the surgery itself will not make the allergies go away. Therefore, medicines like cetirizine may be needed indefinitely if symptoms are bad enough. Cetirizine is generally very well tolerated. You can look online for the list of possible side effects.

When I got off the medicince, about 3-4 days later I broke out in the most horrific hives, from my head to my groin. Went to a doctor and was priscribed over the counterver Zyrtec/Cetirizine for the hives. Took them and immediately the hives vanished.
Avatar f tn Hi Dr.Bhumika, Thanks for your comment. I have seen a general physician twice, the first time he prescribed a clobetasol cream. This relieved the itching and the lumps went away after a couple days. However, a few days after the condition was "under control", it started to appear on my arms. So upon my second visit to the doctor, he prescribed 20mg Cetirizine HCl (Reactine).
