The Doctors found I am allergic to cats, dogs, trees, ragweed, things that i have been around for about, oh, all my life. my hive outbursts are so painful. I get hives in my scalp and on the bottom of my feet that swell up so horribly. Why can't anyone figure out these outbursts?
After being out of the house for days I come home and immediately begin to cough, then by evening I ache in my joints and have sinus drainage and a cough, this persists for days and when I go out of town it stops, it also stops if I go shopping for several hours or am away for severl hours. Could I be allergic to my home? Can I be tested?
they said it was alergic reaction follow by infection i am still on antibiotic (keflex)and prednozone for 1 month + u;ltram for pain, atarax for itching, kenalog cream (another steroid) , claritin and some ear drops + vitamin c and next wek i can start benadryl again
The mainstay of treatment of hives is antihistamines which may be necessary for prolonged periods (in excess of 6 weeks). You can take antihistamines like Cetirizine(Zyrtec) and Loratadine(Claritin) may be needed to get symptom relief. Sedating antihistamines such as Chlorphenamine(Benadryl) is used at night to get urticaria control. Short courses of oral cortisone or steroids are taken for short periods (one to three days) to settle more severe symptoms.
I'm in Canada, and here it is not an OTC, one can buy it just of the shelf, Reactine comes regular and non-drowsy which is what I buy, I take the extra strenght one, the main ingredient in it is Cetirizine Hydrochloride 10mg/tablet, not many antihistamines work for me as they make me feel quite sick and even more dizzy but this one has worked for quite a while now so I haven't had to change it, another one I've tried that worked but didn't buy it regularly as it is more expensive is Aerius which
acute and chronic(when hives persist for more than 6 weeks). The most likely triggers for acute urticaria are allergies to pets, horses, latex and foods, such as shellfish and nuts, bee or wasp stings, allergies to medicines, Viral infections, such as glandular fever and herpes, dental and sinus infections, fungal infections, blood transfusions and vaccines. The cause of chronic urticaria is often more difficult to identify.
I am embarassed to say that the licking all started 6 years ago when i brought home a kitten. Buster is a needy cat... he needs attention all the time, so I thought I'd get a friend for him. The kitten brought mites but wasn't bothered by them... though Buster was. I found out that some cats are just more sensitive than others... it doesn't surprise me that Buster has sensitive skin. The problem was though that he was after himself all the time.
The outdoor treatment I mentioned, though, will help for people who have dogs in addition to their cats. I learned about where the fleas live and their life cycle when I did my research. Treating the outside is a lot trickier than treating the inside and is no guarantee, especially with cats. I've never had to worry about actually trying the outdoor treatment of yards and such, but I read about how effective the nematodes would be in certain areas where the fleas hang out in your yard.
The Flip-Turn Sinus Flush (by friggy) removes infected mucus from every part of your sinuses, which Mayo Clinic research shows is the cure for sinusitis, rather than treating sinus tissue with antibiotics. Regular saline irrigation does not work in the upper sinuses, because of gravity, but the Sinus Flush defeats gravity. It works incredibly well with bacterial and viral infections, and some but not all fungal infections. The Flip-Turn is the original, and still the best Sinus Flush.
I was told that it's new here but they've been using it in Europe for some time. I've been taking it for four days now. It hasn't stopped the hives completely but I'm giving it some time and praying every time I put one in my mouth. I should mention that those people who have been suffering with hives for months test positive for antibodies against their mast cells (mast cells release histamine).
I have had CU for over 5+ years. Recently, I started taking Cetirizine (Zyrtec) and Ranitidine (Zantac). Weird combo, but according research Zyrtec is a H1 antagonist and Zantac is a H2 antagonist. When implementing both, they work better than just one. This combo has helped me for 2 days. I went into the doctor and she said that this is the safest cure for now. Supposedly, there are other treatments according to the DR.
Everything was fine except for lower back degenerative disk diease and mild hearing loss. All bloodwork was normal. Took a job in Iraq where I am currently. Arrived in Feb. In Jun, I was sick with extreme fatigue, headaches, and dizziness. Saw a doctor in Jul and was given OTC headache meds. They did bloodwork that came back normal. Since that time I have had daily head pressure and tinnitus. The tinnitus comes and goes and can be really loud and annoying.
Its been like this for a little more than a month. A few years back, it was like this for nearly 2 years but went away for about 5 months the later part of 2007. Both reactions were right after I had sexual relations with a partner. The coincidence led me to believe std related but negative tests say otherwise. I myself feel lost and not sure what to do because from what ive been reading, it seems like the creams/moisturizers and medications do not really help so much.
he can tell 2 days away if the weather is going to dramatically change - and here in texas that happens a lot. trust me, its awful for him. once the weather settles down, he's back to normal. only the barometric change does anything to him. you're not alone in this, and nothing - not any medication on the market, rx or otherwise, puts a dent in his reaction.
This is the use of Plaquenil, a drug originally used for malaria. In a recent trial 83% improved or cleared completely when used for three months or more. ref:http://www.aocd.org/skin/dermatologic_diseases/urticaria.html Hope you are better informed about your condition and find it useful.
I had read about the possibility of it being bed bugs (from reading sites like this online) so I tore my bedroom apart looking for signs of an infestation, and saw NOTHING. My mattress is brand new, the apartment I live in is also pretty close to brand new. Never the less, not a thing was found, searched mattress, box spring, walls near bed, everything. Ruled out bed bugs. The only other thing I've seen it could be is Restless Leg Syndrome.
Doc has also given me some Double Base cream that will act as a barrier for when I wash up and shower. I need a cure very badly for the itching - I seem to wake up in the morning vigurously scratching my inflamed hands. I hope this doesnt happen on my wedding day - the ring wont fit!!!!!!!!!!!noooooooooo! Help If you have the same problem, I DO ALREADY PUT ICE CUBES IN A TEA TOWEL AND HOLD THAT FOR A WHILE, BUT CANT ALWAYS DO THAT IF IM OUT!
I do have sinus problems and always have, but I have never really taken anything for it other than something over the counter during a cold. I have regular stuffiness and pretty much always have. I just have learned to deal with it. It would be nice to know were that smoke smell comes from. No one else smells it when I say I do. I have never smoked nor have I lived in a home were anyone smokes either.
The Institute called me last week to see if I wanted to be in this new study for Sofosbuvir GS 5885. I have not been able to get much info on the net except from the Drug Co. They have one slot open and I need to be there tomorrow for my bloodwork and EKG. Is there anyone on Med Help that is in this trial or anyone with any info that would help me make this decision. I was so dis-hearted when I could not stay in the Teleprevir study.
I found a person on the MSN body odor support forum who had a bad odor for a long time and then the odor went away after being treated for H. Pylori, but then the coughing and sneezing started after that. Interesting. Another person on the MSN board said he was also treated for H. Pylori and then the coughing/sneezing started! Question: Do any of you burp a lot? Here is a thread that should be read: http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=561071#i Read the replies to that link also.
