Avatar n tn He takes an allergy medicine (cetirizine hydrochloride) every day (three tablets which is over the recommended dose, but necessary to control his hive outbreaks) and predisone often. I would like to know from more metformin users if this is something they have experienced. BTW- He was referred to an allergist who claims it is some sort of an autoimmune response in older people (he is 65), which I do not believe as there were not objective tests to substantiate this.

Avatar f tn I am 23 yrs old and I am allergic to all pets that have fur or feathers, as well as tabacco, dust, grass, and dandelion. I take cetirizine hydrochloride and Rhinocort everyday. However, a few months ago, I started to get an itchy/tingly feeling in my teeth, throat, chest, and toungue. I got it almost everyday, and sometimes for several days straight. My doctor said it might be a side affect of the antihistimine. So, I have switched to loratadine and have been using this one for a few months.
Avatar f tn should be carefully charting weight and height percentiles, to be certain he is on track and getting the proper mix of nutrients on a daily basis from other foods, etc., which he isn't allergic to. Sometimes a nutritionist is able to help if this occurs .... My daughter was below the charts for 2 years ..... back then, nobody realized or took food allergies seriously. Today, it is so much different. Definitely mention your concern to your doc.
Avatar n tn The allergist prescibed Xyzal and Ramitidine - these were not covered by my insurance but over the counter equivalents, i.e. Cetirizine Hydrochloride and Zantac 150, have almost fully controlled the itchiness and I have not had any hives since taking these medications. I have had some indigestion and stomach issues but much less than before. Any thoughts or advice would be welcome.
Avatar n tn My son has been under the care of a paediatric specialist since he was 2 and was thought to be asthmatic (this wasnt an official diagnosis but a feeling by his doctor) so and was prescribed a bunch of different medication including Salubutomol inhalers, beclamethasone, cetirizine hydrochloride, montelukast, nose sprays like flucticanose, and also the atrovent inhaler. Avatar f tn Try cetirizine hydrochloride 10 mg/day for the itching. It does help and it's over-the -counter, at least it is here, don't know about Australia.Maybe try Aveeno or baking soda baths for the itchiness. I would not give up lotions but would try either a Sarna or generic copy thereof (not the one with menthol but the one for sensitive skin, so it won't cause any cold or unpleasant sensations). Perhaps try Dove soap, and definitely Neutrogena Norwegian Formula cream on your hands.
Avatar f tn m in Canada, and here it is not an OTC, one can buy it just of the shelf, Reactine comes regular and non-drowsy which is what I buy, I take the extra strenght one, the main ingredient in it is Cetirizine Hydrochloride 10mg/tablet, not many antihistamines work for me as they make me feel quite sick and even more dizzy but this one has worked for quite a while now so I haven't had to change it, another one I've tried that worked but didn't buy it regularly as it is more expensive is Ae

2127744 tn?1335367748 I've been diagnosed with Aquagenic Urticaria - i'm from Bournemouth, UK. Aparently i'm one of only 16 in the UK who have it. I have lived with getting rashes from water since i was 13 (I'm now 19) and it's had a massive knock on my confidence and it makes me really self-conscious. I've been to numerous hospital trips to get treated and tested... I had the water test done with 1 arm with tap water and 1 arm with distilled water...

Avatar m tn My dog gets Tramadol hydrochloride 50mg from the vet. Are these the same pills humans can take?
Avatar f tn I absolutely hated Zyrtec (Cetirizine hydrochloride). I did not respond well to Alavert (Loratadine) either. I found the Atarax (Hydroxyzine) helps a lot. I also responded well to the no drowsiness version of Allegra D. However given my husband is allergic to lots of things and in his case antihistamines do not help as much as an allergy shot (which work like a charm but he refuses to get) It might help to experiment with a few of these things and perhaps have a few topicals on hand.
