Common Questions and Answers about Cellcept side effects infections

cellcept

Avatar n tn I had a breakthrough with Avonex so my dr. recommended adding cellcept to the avonex shots. If so can you tell me how you have done with cellcept. Thanks!!!!
Avatar f tn I have been on Cellcept for 5 months for multiple sclerosis. I developed generalized joint pain, lower back pain, and now have a low RBC count. I'm seeing a physical therapist and am taking Celebrex for the joint pain. This is helping. I am waiting for my latest lab tests from my primary physician. I see my neurologist next week. I was on Cytoxan before and would hate to have to return to those infusions.
Avatar f tn s side effects. In fact, I know very little about cellcept at all. I hope someone here can help. Have you talked to your neuro about these problems and asked about alternative drugs for you to try? I hope you come through again and chat more with us here.
Avatar n tn It seems to do great (for my eye anyway..the side effects have been crazy for me) but when i get lower than 10mg my eye will start to flare up .. It has happened 4 times now. This time they are adding another immune suppressant to the mix called Cellcept.. it makes me nervous to take 2 immune suppressants considering the fact they tell you it hard to fight infections (im a preschool teacher.. there are germs everywhere!) So far all i have been told is that is can be managed..
1176211 tn?1264038680 t know about neuro symptoms but as I was told by my doctors when I was first diagnosed and was afraid to go on the meds they wanted to put me on due to the side effects, they did say that delaying could effect kidneys, heart, lungs, since these are the major organs that this disease effects, also joint damage. I also have SLE,Sjogrens,RA,and GERD is one of the complication this disease causes. I also suffered with memory loss and brain fog but after getting on meds that has somewhat improved.
778275 tn?1326913623 After a upper respiratory infection last month I have been having someone more weaknesses and even a slight breathing problem at times, so he wants to put me on Cellcept. The problem is Cellcept can cause Lymphoma and other side effects and infection risk,. I want to get off Prednisone due to weight gain and creeping up hypertension and the Mestinin digestive problems are a real pain.
Avatar f tn Okay hears the deal I was put on prednison when I was 17yrs old along with imuran, now i know the effects of prednison obviouly, it being a steroid there usually are some weight gain and moon face etc as common side effects. Now I'm 19yrs old and they have me on cellcept. I have always been extremely active even to due to my fatigue but I cannot loose a pound, I will work out 24-7 and change my diets often to see if anything changes and...nothing.
1135761 tn?1260557094 a lot of what you desrcibe are common symptoms that people have during the first year post-transplantation, some probably related to the medications that you are taking. Must always rule out CMV or other viral infections.
Avatar f tn sorry for the delay in responding--there was a glitch in the system one should be on as low a dose of immunosuppreesion ultimately as possible to decrease potential side effects.
645800 tn?1466860955 When you started your CellCept, did they give you a sheet of paper listing side effects and when to call them with health issues? If they did, scrounge around and see if you can find it. If you saw the top of my desk, it would be an impossibility at this point. Let us know what they tell after you call tomorrow. Okay?
Avatar m tn if its HCV and nothing else I wouldnt rush to treating you but would let things play out as the therapy can be difficult and cause a lot of side effects. there may also be new meds available soon in the post-liver transplant setting.
422425 tn?1307992990 in there it says I have Grade 4 Sjogrens Syndrome. Does anyone know is that the same as Stage 4? Just wondering. I see my Rheum dr on the 23rd of Feb.....I was just wondering. Also I have been taking Tramadol (Ultram) for pain 3 times a day, Does it have any side effects like weird dreams? I have had some doozies lately.
Avatar n tn You definitely cannot stay on that high hose of prednisone regardless as it will have enormous side affects. I would recommend the cellcept to get you down or off steroids. have you tried azathioprine? This is a more time tested steroid sparing agent than cellcept and there is really no concern on its use during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with CIDP, and have gone through the "normal" protocol.. prednisone, IvIG, plasmapheresis, with no real help. My neurologist now suggests therapy with cytoxan or cellcept. He is "saving" the stem cell/bone marrow transplant as a last resort. I have read all of the info on both drugs and the risk/benefit for each.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! I'm a 2B and just started my treatment 2 nights ago with my first injection. It went really well, and I still don't notice any side effects (sx?). I am taking pegintron and rebetol. Is this normal? I have been reading about all the side effects and had me pretty scared, but so far, I feel fine??
984010 tn?1255796138 Don't be afaird to try the meds the doctors give you. I tried all those too, they didn't work or I couldn't handle the side effects. But all my doctors first told me to be patient because it would take a while to find the right combination of meds that would work. It has taken 1 year and 3 months for me and now I'm finally getting relief. Even my lab work has all returned back to negative. Most of us with any autoimmune disease have alot of pain.
Avatar m tn I know this is far belated, but i have an IgE level of over 14000, suffer from eczema psoriasis iktheosis asthma a form of autoimmune disease and more, some of the many things I have done include: Immuno supressants; Cellcept, I believe the drug was called, many different allergy pills; Hydroxizine, cyproheptadine, et cetera, antibiotics for long periods of time; like pregnizone, different topical creams; like betamethasone and clotrimazole, and the list goes on and on.
Avatar n tn I know medicine as a whole works this way but is very frustrating to watch your son go through self induced side effects adding to initial problems. I just pray every day for a cure and until the day of a cure, i continue to enjoy every minute of my son. I would be happy to answer any questions in detail of the road thus far. Just feel free to write.
Avatar f tn Using both medications may allow you to take a smaller dose of prednisone, reducing its side effects. Side effects of azathioprine may include difficulty fighting infections and nausea. Rare side effects include liver damage, pancreas inflammation (pancreatitis) and cancer. Other immunosuppressants.
Avatar n tn when you say adding some cellcept might be a good idea, does that include trying to lower my prograf some?
Avatar m tn bacterial infections! So I started researching side effects to Adderall and after much digging around I finally came across a post in a woman's forum regarding a common STD which is a bacterial infection and the women were discussing Adderall. Sure enough, there were tons of ladies complaining that they have had an increase in all that is bacterial infections since taking the medicine. It seems to be linked, Bacterial Infections and Adderall.
Avatar m tn Should the transplant team/doctor monitor liver transplant patients taking cellcept post liver transplant over time? Is there a significant threat of cellcept causing lymphoma?
Avatar m tn Facial rashes, night sweats and the closing of my throat. That is when I stopped using Bactrim. All other side effects are gone except for the closing of my throat that comes on and off, especially when I'm done eating. It's been going on for 2 weeks (since my last bactrim dose). It doesn't make my breathing or eating any difficult but is just very annoying. It stopped for 2 days and happened one late night, 2-3 hours after drinking alcohol.
Avatar f tn This treatment has a high risk of psychiatric side effects, you need to find a doctor who is up to date on the treatment and side effects. Search the archives on this forum, its got lots of good discussions and information. Good luck.
