778275 tn?1326913623 After a upper respiratory infection last month I have been having someone more weaknesses and even a slight breathing problem at times, so he wants to put me on Cellcept. Avatar f tn I have Auto immune hepatitis aswell and primary biliary cirrosis. I was on Azathioprine for two years but when my blood counts went up and I was to take 50mg morning and night, my body did not react well to the drug, so was put on Mercaptopurine. This was devestating and I started to go to liver failure. I am not on Cellcept which is Mycophenolate Mofetil 1g morning and 1g night. This is a fantastic immunposuppressant.
Avatar m tn additional agents such as mycophenolate (cellcept) may be necessary or in cases of severe rejection a medication such as thymoglobulin may be needed.
Avatar m tn The standard therapy options include intravenous immunoglobulin and plasmapharesis, corticosteroids, azathioprine, cyclophosphamide, etanercept, mycophenolate mofetil, interferon alpha 2a and tacrolimus. Current ones are interferon beta 1a, rituximab, and high dose cyclophosphamide. Your neurologist needs to apprise you of the long-term side effects since prolonged therapy are required. Botox shots are not known to be used in therapy.
Avatar f tn The moon face is a side effect to steroid therapy. Once the steroid is tapered, your symptoms should resolve. The chance of significant side effects increases with the dose and duration of treatment and so the minimum dose necessary to control the symptoms is given. And please don’t discontinue therapy without consulting your doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
422425 tn?1307992990 in there it says I have Grade 4 Sjogrens Syndrome. Does anyone know is that the same as Stage 4? Just wondering. I see my Rheum dr on the 23rd of Feb.....I was just wondering. Also I have been taking Tramadol (Ultram) for pain 3 times a day, Does it have any side effects like weird dreams? I have had some doozies lately.
Avatar n tn I am on 750 urso three times a day now.. I am 52. I am now on Cellcept (mycophenolate Mofetil) 1g twice daily. This is because the other meds like Azathioprine and Mercaptopurine disagreed with me intensely and I turned a beautiful shade of butterscotch and was oh so ill. This new drug has less chemicals in and suits me very well, in fact I walked 6 miles in Jordan as opposed to not even being able to get out of bed.

Avatar m tn My doc is trying to reduce the dose. Since I was on tacrolimus only(as Mycophenolate causes TLC to go down in two occasion), sirolimus 1mg is started along with reduced tacrolimus(2mg BD, Tac level ~4.5). But the creatinine is still high(1.8). It seems some side effect of Sirolimus is also coming as the TLC is 3400 and platelet is 80,000. What do you suggest to bring creatinine under control? What is the way to determine the exact required dose of tacrolimus?
Avatar m tn Should the transplant team/doctor monitor liver transplant patients taking cellcept post liver transplant over time? Is there a significant threat of cellcept causing lymphoma?
Avatar f tn Using both medications may allow you to take a smaller dose of prednisone, reducing its side effects. Side effects of azathioprine may include difficulty fighting infections and nausea. Rare side effects include liver damage, pancreas inflammation (pancreatitis) and cancer. Other immunosuppressants.
686869 tn?1227199935 Cellcept is a strong drug and as far as I know it has more side effects than prograf. I am taking now (6 years after TP) 1.5 mg of prograf and 1 mg of rapamune per day. The latter is considered also to have some antiviral effect. However, different people metabolize drugs differently, so it has to be decided based on lab tests. You take now 4 mg of program and 1000 mg of cellcept, which seems to be a large dose.
Avatar n tn I had a breakthrough with Avonex so my dr. recommended adding cellcept to the avonex shots. If so can you tell me how you have done with cellcept. Thanks!!!!
645800 tn?1466860955 Had my latest appt with Dr. P at the MS clinic today and am feeling pretty good about how things went. But as usual there were questions I didn't thing to ask him about. Last week I had a MRI w/wo contrast, MRA, and VEP tests done. Of course it took forever to get them lined up due to the VA. The MRI & MRA were done at the VA while the VEP was done at Vanderbilt.
560748 tn?1226864517 I am on 1 g Mycophenalate Mofetil twice daily, 750g Ursodeoxycholic Acid three times daily and Ezetimbe 10g daily for cholesterol. I feel clinically fit and weigh 9 st 3 lb. The disease is progressing but I wonder if there is any timescale on this as regards prognosis and if I am able to have a transplant with having both PBC and Overlap. I am a 51 year old female. I have to have an MRI or CT scan soon as I have a lot of nodules in the liver they need to check up on.
Avatar f tn I have been on Cellcept for 5 months for multiple sclerosis. I developed generalized joint pain, lower back pain, and now have a low RBC count. I'm seeing a physical therapist and am taking Celebrex for the joint pain. This is helping. I am waiting for my latest lab tests from my primary physician. I see my neurologist next week. I was on Cytoxan before and would hate to have to return to those infusions.
Avatar f tn s side effects. In fact, I know very little about cellcept at all. I hope someone here can help. Have you talked to your neuro about these problems and asked about alternative drugs for you to try? I hope you come through again and chat more with us here.
461838 tn?1255790216 Tacrolimus-based immunosuppression is utilized in 70 centers (86.42%). Triple therapy using tacrolimus, mycophenolate mofetil and steroids is the most common regimen (41%). Six programs (7.4%) use steroid-free protocols. In nine centers (11%) steroids are discontinued within a week, 56% within 3 months, and 98% within the first year. At 75% of centers, mild rejection is treated by increasing baseline immunosuppression.
Avatar f tn Okay hears the deal I was put on prednison when I was 17yrs old along with imuran, now i know the effects of prednison obviouly, it being a steroid there usually are some weight gain and moon face etc as common side effects. Now I'm 19yrs old and they have me on cellcept. I have always been extremely active even to due to my fatigue but I cannot loose a pound, I will work out 24-7 and change my diets often to see if anything changes and...nothing.
Avatar n tn Also, I have IgA nephropathy and have been on low dose immunosuppressant (mycophenolate mofetil 250 mg twice daily) for the past 1.5 years. 4 days ago, I noticed a little bump in on my labia minora. and I thought maybe it was a boil and tried to break it. It is now pus filled and looks like a zit. its just the one. I have no tingling or itching tho there is some pain now after i messed abt with it which is kinda like the pain i feel with zits anywhere.
Avatar f tn sorry for the delay in responding--there was a glitch in the system one should be on as low a dose of immunosuppreesion ultimately as possible to decrease potential side effects.

Avatar m tn I am being successfully treated for a rare autoimmune condition with 15 mg prednisone and 1 gr mycophenolate daily. Although mycophenolate use involves a risk of opportunistic HSV infections, I was not warned about this. I recently had sex WITH A CONDOM with a partner whose status for HSV infection is unknown. Within about a day, I had developed numerous lesions. These spread rapidly and my doctor said they had an appearance consistent with HSV.
Avatar n tn You definitely cannot stay on that high hose of prednisone regardless as it will have enormous side affects. I would recommend the cellcept to get you down or off steroids. have you tried azathioprine? This is a more time tested steroid sparing agent than cellcept and there is really no concern on its use during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with CIDP, and have gone through the "normal" protocol.. prednisone, IvIG, plasmapheresis, with no real help. My neurologist now suggests therapy with cytoxan or cellcept. He is "saving" the stem cell/bone marrow transplant as a last resort. I have read all of the info on both drugs and the risk/benefit for each.
