Common Questions and Answers about Cellcept and autoimmune hepatitis

cellcept

Avatar n tn I'm a patient with autoimmune hepatitis type II, and my doctor has just perscribed cellcept in an attempt to reduce or stop use of prednizone. It is really important to me to try and have a child, but I'm afraid if I start cellcept that I shouldn't get pregnant. I know cellcept is a class D drug, and discussed my concern with my doctor.

Avatar f tn I see ou wrote this a while back but I am hoping you are still here and will see my question. I am supposed to start taking Cellcept for Lupus and I can't find anyone who can tell me anything about how they did on it. Are you there? Did you have any side effects while on it?

1000632 tn?1293141653 I finished my treatment at 2014 and feel terrible. I am sure I have autoimmune disease or diseases and I need treatment otherwise I am done! Pain, needles all over my body, sand in my eyes, tired, Hashimoto's, stomach , mood, and...... Doctors doing nothing about it. I have AMA, ANA positive but still they cannot find the reason I feel so bad. The Reumatologist said I have fibro! I don't think so !
Avatar n tn I am on 5 mg of prednisone and cellcept as well. Can I ask why you stopped taking the cellcept? My Dr is trying to lower me off of the prednisone all together and just stay on the cellcept. I was on 10 mg of pred 4 weeks ago, down to 7.5 mg 2 weeks ago and just got reduced to 5 mg. My numbers are staying in great shape, but I am still holding steady on the cellcept. I have been battling AIH for a year and a half. Nothing has worked w/the prednisone accept for cellcept.
Avatar f tn After being seen by a hepatologist and having a biopsy, it was concluded that the autoimmune hepatitis was a result of the Minocycline she was taking for acne. She has so far responded well to prednisone. The doctor is trying to decrease the dose, but I noticed her enzymes were up a bit with her last labs and am anxious to see her next lab results. She has a cousin who has inflammatory bowel disease, which is considered an autoimmune disease. I have a cousin with lupus.
Avatar m tn 5mg and tenofovir 300mg) and prograf, cellcept wysolone etc. Two months back entacavir was withdrawn and I am now treated with tenofovir, prograf(6mg), cellcept(1000mg) and Magnesium suppliment. Almost at the same time( 2months back) I suffered from maleria also. Since then SGOT and SGPT are gradually rising from normal level, and they are now 69 and 46 level( normal range is 4) and rose to 3.2 almost one month back but it goes down to 2.3 now. What could be reason?

1781490 tn?1318651465 My Neuro has me on an immunosuppressant (CellCept 2000mg ) I have been on the CellCept a little over 6 months and it seems to be helping with both the SS and MS. I have noticed that my symptoms ( including fatigue ) have not been as bad...though I am still getting worse... just not as fast. But it could also just be a cycle of less decline and not due to the CellCept.
168348 tn?1379357075 Hope had Myasthenia gravis (MG) an autoimmune disorder of the neuromuscular junction and Megaesophagus, which is not an autoimmune form in which was also treated with the same Med's as humans would receive. (Though with Cellcept and Mestinon med's, it was much cheaper to get the med's out of Canada). With people I don't think you can do this legally though. Only animals I believe. Also "Poquito" in profile picture, had the glaucoma.
1037367 tn?1267134141 s how much she had to take and also Cellcept for her immune system. After 6 months she was totally weened off of Prednisone and will continue Cellcept until her one year mark and get another Renal Biopsy done in April.....I would love to know about more parents that have had children that gave suffered with this horrible virus that has left my daughter scarred physically and emotionally for life. 522377 tn?1212148288 If you really do have autoimmune hepatitis and hepatitis c virus then your treatment approach is very different form someone with only hepatitis c. Do not listed to any advice here other than advice to be sure and get good medical advice. The last poster is flat out wrong when he suggests that you start treating and see what happens.
Avatar n tn With both diseases treatment for hep c with the standard drugs often worsens the autoimmune hepatitis. The autoimmune hepatitis is the result an immune response and interferon stimulates the immune system. And if you treat the autoimmune hepatitis then the immune suppressive drugs may worsen HCV. This makes it very difficult to treat or maybe "manage" would be a better word.
560748 tn?1226864517 i think then you should stay on the current regimen. make sure you have received hepatitis a and b immunizations if appropriate. good luck.
Avatar n tn The nodule never really changed, and I never took any meds. About 13 years ago I was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis and took Entocort for about 4 years and am still taking Cell Cept. I did have an ultrasound on my thyroid in 2018 and no changes. I moved in 2019 and no longer have an endocrinologist. So, all the changes probably started around 2019. I I do have bloodwork. Everything was in normal range. I can attach a copy of the report tomorrow.
Avatar f tn I take Cellcept for 2 and a half year. How long will last taking of this medicine because my hair and stomack can't stand it any more?
Avatar n tn He is 16 years old and is on several immunesurpresents at this time which include Cellcept, Tacrolimus, Predisone. My question is should he seek medical attention for this or could it be just a side effect of his medications he is on?
Avatar f tn Autoimmune Hepatitis causes an elevated IgG. I found the following information on line: Autoimmune Hepatitis: Diagnosis Indications for Testing Persistently elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT) or aspartate aminotransferase (AST) 5x normal in the absence of any other cause of liver disease or damage Criteria for Diagnosis Diagnosis of exclusion – need to rule out other etiologies of liver disease, including toxins, infections, and hereditary diseases Serum IgG >2.
Avatar n tn I take Cellcept and only Cellcept. I've been on it now for over a month. My MS doctor prescribed it for my PPMS since there's really no treatment for PPMS. I haven't had any side effects from it. When I first started on it, I did get some headaches but nothing I couldn't handle. In my case, I take it to hopefully slow down the progression of my particular form of this disease. Let me know if I can answer any questions.
312330 tn?1245176752 While on prednisone you are immunosuppressed which might impede the production of protective or diagnostic hepatitis antibodies. how about medications such cellcept or azathioprine as steroid-sparing agents?
Avatar f tn Over time, I have had 1000mg pulses of IV methylprednisilone, (seven infusions over seven months), 3000mg Cellcept, 200mg azathioprine, 400mg of hydroxychloroquine, and three rounds of rituximab. The only treatment that has produced remission is rituximab. I think the gastroenterologist wants to make sure nothing else (non-immune) is going on with the pancrease / liver before retreating with ritux. But, that's a guess. He is rather quiet, but nice. Thank goodness for that.
Avatar n tn Type 2 autoimmune hepatitis is less common and occurs more often in children than adults. And it is good that the present test results are fine. While blood tests and liver biopsy are needed for the diagnosis, other considerations such as risk factors, symptoms and results of other tests are also important. It is important that you talk about this with your attending physician also for proper evaluation. Seeking another specialist's opinion may also help. Take care and do keep us posted.
