Common Questions and Answers about Celexa zoloft compare

celexa

Avatar f tn Celexa does not give me fatigue but I do take it at bedtime like I did with the Zoloft. The Celexa does not work as well as the zoloft did but it took many many months for the zoloft to kick in so hoping someday the celexa works just as well.
396332 tn?1320003615 I was wondering for any of you that have ever taken celexa....Can you actually feel celexa or is it just like zoloft where you dont notice it at all. Also what are some side effects you experianced?
Avatar n tn After having you describe the taper off method you used, before introducing the Celexa, I highly doubt it is Serotonin Syndrome. SS is actually much more rare than most people think. It is a danger, but rare indeed. In most cases Serotonin Syndrome is caused when people take VERY high dosages of two or more SSRI meds at the same time. Your Zoloft taper method is fine. You got down to 25Mgs a day and then started the Celexa. That's a safe way to do it.
Avatar m tn Should a patient be on zoloft and celexa at the same time. I have a patient on celexa 20mg that started 5/17/11. She was previously on Zoloft 200mg daily that has been decreased to 100mg daily x7 days then 50mg x7days then d/c. My problem is this combination of the two. Should she have finished the tapering of zoloft before starting the celexa?
672514 tn?1265655141 Been taking 30 mg of celexa for just over 4 weeks for anxiety....had dry mouth and a little fogginess for the first couple of weeks but that has worn off. I'm much better than I was without the celexa but still think it needs more time (or possible dosage adjustment)....been wondering if I should try lexapro but hate to change since I'm so far into the celexa. No ED for me....but was warned it was a possibility.
Avatar f tn Still have anxiety and breakthrough panic attacks. He has given me the choice of lexapro or Zoloft. Since Celexa and lexapro are so similar, I'm concerned that the lexapro won't work given that the Celexa stopped working. On the other hand, he has warned me that Zoloft is more activating, which is not good for anxiety and panic. Thoughts? Advice? Similar experiences?
Avatar m tn i have been on celexa for a few weeks now. not found of any meds period. but did anyone ever start seeing spots when staring at lights more then usual or floaters more then usual ?
Avatar n tn i have been taking zoloft for about 9 days 50 mg and prior to this i was on celexa i now at night sweat my heart pounds and legs shake and twitch how long does this last and is it normal?
Avatar f tn Thank you for sharing your experience with Celexa. I have a script. I haven't started it yet. I had a hard time with Zoloft & worried that I will have the same SE with Celexa. I am happy this med works so well for you. Hopefully it will do the same for me! As long as I have energy with no weight gain I will be super happy. And of course it helps with the anxiety. *anyone else have an experience with Celexa they want to share please do. Thanks!
Avatar f tn This stuff is so individual. Sorry you're having a hard time. You're still on a lowish dose of Zoloft, but you are the master of your life and sometimes we just know when a drug isn't the right one. The only thing I can advise is if you've made up your mind, if you know the Zoloft isn't going to be the right fit for you, the sooner you decide to taper off the easier it will be. The longer you take these meds the hard it is to stop.
17020225 tn?1455749597 Maybe your Dr needs to up your Zoloft? My Dr increased mine when I let him know.
Avatar m tn My Dr. just prescribe me Zoloft, I was taking Celexa for Anxiety and Depression but stop working. I started last week taking Zoloft every other day that way the transition from Celexa could be easier. On Wednesday, I stop Celexa and started taking only Zoloft. As anyone, experience loose of appetite, upset stomach and being tired? PD: Also, Im on Ativan .
Avatar f tn I too am on Zoloft but have only been on it for 5 days. The doctor is weaning me off the celexa I was on too. Tonight is last night of celexa and zoloft combo. Then tomorrow it's all Zoloft and I nervous. I hope it helps. I too experience the inability to breath properly. Like I think of my breathing too often and try to control it. I don't think its so much a Zoloft thing, though your body may not being tolerating it well I just think it's anxiety plain and simple.
Avatar f tn I have been anxious but the swith has me taking 50mg(half my daily dose) of zoloft with 20mg of Celexa. In 4 or 5 days I will be stopping the zoloft altogether. If need be, I will increase my dose of Celexa to 40mg in a few weeks . If none of that works I shall seek out another option. Thank you so much for your advice. I really need the communication, it comforts me. I truly appreciate it.
Avatar f tn I am 17 years old and I have been taking Zoloft for about 5 years. I have been taking 200mg of Zoloft for 2 years straight out of the 5 years of taking Zoloft. I smoke marihuana everyday/night. I've been using marihuana for 5 years also. I finally found a doc that saw my problems and wanted to help get me better. He put me on Celexa. I was taking 200mg of Zoloft then went down to 150mg if Zoloft and 10mg of Celexa. I've made it down to 100mg of Zoloft and 20mg of Celexa.
3185406 tn?1345381829 I have been on many different SSRIs for 15 years now for anxiety. I was recently on Celexa, but switched to Zoloft 50mg last week because the Celexa was no longer working. I've been on Zoloft before and have had good results except for one thing, which leads me to my question: My throat feels like someone's hand is around it squeezing. It's very uncomfortable. In my research, this can be a sign of anxiety, but why doesn't it do it when I'm NOT on Zoloft?
Avatar f tn when they switched me from Zoloft to Celexa my Doc did it slowly. Once I switched, I noticed that some of the plusses of Zoloft were gone, BUT then some of the minuses from Zoloft left too (which I was glad about). But then, on Celexa, I ended up with some minor side-effects that Zooft never gave me. It's sort of like a trade-off. What you can live with and what you can't.

Avatar f tn Hello all! I have been suffering with anxiety for over 6 years now. I was able to go off my medications in 2005 without any problems because I became pregnant. Anyways, the anxiety is back full throttle....I have health anxiety where I constantly feel like I am having a heart attack. My doctor prescribed Zoloft, which I took in the past, but my insurance doesn't cover it. The generic for Celexa is one of the $4 prescriptions you can get at Walmart so she put me on that.
Avatar f tn I only started them 8 weeks ago, .50 zoloft and .50 klonopin 3x/day. Started to feel extreme anxiousness in the mornings, and blamed the zoloft so I asked my doctor to get off it and she gave me a tapering schedule, once off that I will begin tapering off the klonopin (using buspar---not as addictive as other benzos, so dr said). Hoping I can try to work my way through these attacks without medicine. Are you suppose to take celexa for anxiety. Is the anxiety severe enough?
Avatar f tn I have been on Wellbutrin for over a year and my panic attacks came back in full swing and I went to the doctor and they swiched me to Celexa and I am worried that it is going to make me gain all of the weight back that I lost from going off of Zoloft I am also worried that it is going to make me tired like Zoloft did. Has anyone experienced this before? The first day I switched I had horrible shakiness and BIG panic attacks. Anyone have any advice or experiences to share! Thanks!
Avatar n tn Wow! Well if Zoloft made you feel hyper ("like on speed"), boy that doesn't sound like your body was reacting to it as mine did. Goes to show ya that everyone reacts differently to these medications. If you can believe it , I was once on 200 mgs of Zoloft and I had the opposite side-effects you had!,Fuzzy.... I was totally lethargic!
497348 tn?1283436066 I have been on several meds, as well as meds for anxiety as I have GAD, too. A year ago, my doc switched me from Celexa to Zoloft( which I had been on for years, since the mid 90s). Well, we just switched back as I experienced what he called " Zoloft failure". In a year, I went from 50 mg to 200 mg ( max dose) and was miserable. I just switched back to Celexa, about 2 weeks ago and am already feeling better. . I also take Klonopin ( .5 mg three times a day ) for the anxiety.
Avatar f tn Lots of people have read about grapefruit and hep c and are trying it but I also know a lot of people on tx or getting ready to tx are using the anti- depressant Zoloft . Zoloft is one of the drugs that can cause big danger to the liver if used with grapefruit. There are others too but this one is especially common to people on interferon/riba. I sure don't want anyone to make this mistake. There are anti depressants that are safe with grapefruit-Celexa is one of them.
