Celexa withdrawal symptoms how long

Common Questions and Answers about Celexa withdrawal symptoms how long

celexa

Avatar m tn First of all, anxiety sufferers should stay away from too much caffeine and from pot, which is often how many people get their first anxiety attacks. So there's that. You're also assuming that taking an amino acid supplement has an immediate and far more significant result than it does -- it usually takes a combination of supplements to affect mood significantly and it also takes time to work, just as antidepressants do.
Avatar n tn i have been on celexa for 2 years and weened off it and i am still having the shock feeling and fatigue and so on how long will this last?
Avatar n tn after being on celexa for 9 months i quit cold turkey. much to my regret. today is the 12th, and i stopped taking Celexa on the 2nd... so it's been 10 days.
Avatar f tn I have experienced this from both Celexa and Cipralex. Weening yourself off the medication will probably be your doctor's strongest suggestion, as this eases the body out of dependency. The first withdrawal symptoms I experienced were slight brain twitches, almost as if I was feeling little shocks or jerks. They didn't scare me because I knew the cause, and they subsided quite quickly. After that it was mostly dizziness or lightheadedness, fatigue and irritability.
Avatar n tn Withdrawal symptoms are truely terrible...I don't know how gradually you stopped, but it should have been over three weeks, with the last dose being the smallest possible every other day before you stop...if you didn't do that, then try to take smallest dose you can take every other day, along with klonopin, and when you withdrawal symptoms stop, then keep it up for one more week, then stop.
Avatar m tn Has anyone out there experienced this with such a short course of Celexa (Citalapram)? How long will this continue? My Doctor says it will be over soon but I'm not sure he really knows. These drugs are not to be trifled with. They are potentially dangerous. Any thoughts on how much longer I have to endure this? Thanks in advance for any inputs.
Avatar n tn I have never been on Celexa myself, but I have read many posts regarding withdrawal from it and it seems to take people a month or two to feel completely normal. If you put Celexa up in "Search Medhelp" you can read other posts specific to your question. Everyday should get a little better. Take care.......
Avatar f tn Due to a very serious bout of depression 20 years ago which went on for 6 solid years, I have been on anti-depressants for that long. Celexa being the latest, since Serzone was taken off the market. In the last 14 years, I can honestly say that my life has come together full-circle, slowly but surely. I am happy and successful. I had to make several changes through this process (in terms of relationships, personal growth and thinking patterns) and I must say I feel fulfilled.
5509005 tn?1369086312 I honestly think that, for me, the surge of anxiety is mostly withdrawal symptoms. After all, my brain is used to be on Celexa. However, the anxiety is still really uncomfortable. I guess I just want to say that I can relate. Paxiled's advice to go more gradually might be something to look into. Thank you for posting, I take comfort in knowing that someone else is good through something similar to me.
Avatar m tn The only thing i noticed is that when I got stressed my jaw would continually push open and I continued to grind my teeth long after the med was stopped. I stopped celexa again for throat surgery and this time when I stopped my jaw started pushing down and forward and I started making the full blown frowning of grimmicing. I also sometimes make a chewing motion. gets worse when i'm under stress and all goes away when I'm just getting ready to dose of to sleep.
19894882 tn?1486150524 Is there anyone else out there with a similar story? How long did it take you for the withdrawal symptoms to go away?
1425157 tn?1311651679 You don't say which ssri -- they're not the same. My own opinion is that three weeks is way too short a time to come off after that long, and a doctor isn't the best supervision -- a psychiatrist who truly understands withdrawal is. But again, not all ssris are equal. Prozac, for example, stays in the body much longer than other ssris, and so any withdrawal would probably not be noticed for a month or more.
1166402 tn?1303847056 You might be experiencing withdrawal from the Celexa. Remeron is a different antidepressant that will act differently on you neurotransmitters. For example, Celexa was only inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin while Remoron is an antagonist of the 5-HT1A receptor and is most likely to affect your dopamine and noradrenaline (by affecting the adrenergic and 5-HT receptors) levels while not inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin itself as it's a serotonin receptor antagonist.
Avatar n tn You don't say how long you were on the Celexa, but all the symptoms you are reporting are side effects of that medication. That you are no longer taking it could POSSIBLY indicate a "rebound" effect due to withdrawal. The dose of Zoloft you're on is the lowest available and it usually takes a few weeks to reach therapeutic levels.
Avatar f tn had break downsand decoded to go back on celexa got suicidal... the whole 9... long story short... I was switched to lexapro and am now starting week 4. I still get intrusive thoughts about my relationship to the point I want to run but I know deep down I love him so much. I constantly seek reassurance ..
Avatar n tn I went to my psychiatrist on wednesday and was not having any withdrawal symptoms up until yesterday! Could this be from only being on it for a week and 2 days? My psychiatrist told me I should not have been put on cymbalta for my type of case. I just really hope these withdrawl symptoms go away soon :( I don't want to go through this anymore! I try taking the benadryl as everyone says it helps relieve it. But I am having rushes of dizziness...
Avatar f tn After 1 month of using the drug the serotonin reuptake inhibition as just started taking effect so I would expect terrible withdrawal symptoms if any at all. The side effects he his getting right now could be far worst than the withdrawal symptoms and therefore this is why the doctor suggested quitting cold turkey.
Avatar n tn I have been reading about withdrawal symptoms and am wondering if the withdrawal is severe or permanent because I am weighing my options here. Should I take it for the time my doctor wants me on it, and then get off of it only to have major withdrawal that some say never goes away...or should I stop it now before my brain becomes accustomed to it and deal with the anxiety and panic that I have.. Any information on this would greatly be appreciated.
Avatar n tn How fast did you withdraw and how long were you on it? These are big factors in withdrawal symptoms in my experience. But, the good thing is, these symptoms do go away; you even said so in your post. So, look at the positive, it is getting better and remember it will get much better as time goes on....keep us posted!
Avatar n tn If it persists more than another week, you may want to see your doctor, and as a last resort go back on very small doses of celexa to see if that changes the symptoms, and then gradually wean from them which should be much, much easier that what you have been through.
Avatar n tn I decided to go off of it and have been having severe withdrawal symptoms. And you doctor is wrong, 10 days on is more than long enough to have wthdrawals. Since I was on for 4 months I tappered off slowly but it is still terrible. I have those electric shock feelings as weel as a bunch of other withdrawal sysptoms. I did some reseach online and the electric shocks IS related to withdrawals from SSRIs but can also be triggered by other things.
Avatar f tn or can i just stop and start taking the celexa, as surely i havent been on the prozac long enough to have discontinue withdrawels? the reason why i am questioning this is because i am currently signed off work and i want to get better sooner rather than later, and i dont want to annoy work off anymore than i need to , as it terrifies me the thought of loosing my job , Aswell i was wondering if anybody else here is on celexa, ? and if anybodys got good things to say about it ?
Avatar m tn Could u be more specific about what drugs u used plus alcohol consumption for how long and how much?
