Celexa withdrawal fatigue

Common Questions and Answers about Celexa withdrawal fatigue

celexa

Avatar f tn May tell them you are sick if you want to keep your situation private. Also talk to your OB to see if s/he would keep you on Celexa. While the withdrawal itself may not be dangerous, withdrawal symptoms are common with heavy use and relapse is common. Methamphetamine-induced hyperstimulation of pleasure pathways can lead to depression and fatigue months after you stop using.
Avatar f tn Before I tried to get off Celexa I had major fatigue and all the signs of adrenal fatigue for years. I am due for another cortisol test in a couple of months and I'm pretty sure my adrenals have taxed out after that experience so I'm guessing my cortisol levels wouldn't be elevated anymore.

Second, all ssris have withdrawal problems, and although it's true Celexa has been easier on the whole than, say, Paxil, or Effexor, if you go on withdrawal websites you'll still see plenty of severe withdrawal problems. He's put you on Prozac because it's a long-lasting ssri, whereas all the others are very short lived in the body; usually they'll use liquid Prozac so they can wean slowly.
Avatar f tn s for 5+ years for OCD and she has always had troublesome side effects. She is now on Celexa, the side effects seemed to be better in the beginning, but not anymore. She experiences terrible thoughts and twitching feelings in her legs and arms. We are wanting to take her off SSRI's completely, but we are worried about the withdrawl symptoms. Can anyone tell us what to expect and just how you were able to stop an anti-depressant? P.S.
Avatar n tn i have been on celexa for 2 years and weened off it and i am still having the shock feeling and fatigue and so on how long will this last?
Avatar n tn My primary care doctor prescribed the cymbalta to me! I was in the middle of withdrawing from celexa which was a nightmare in itself it's been almost a month I been off of it! so on a Saturday when my psych wasn't around I was desperate. I went to my primary doctor and that is when he prescribed the cymbalta. I went to my psychiatrist on wednesday and was not having any withdrawal symptoms up until yesterday! Could this be from only being on it for a week and 2 days?
1345272 tn?1276400328 t personally recommend you stop taking Celexa but take both if you want to quit Celexa you must at least taper it slowly. Maybe switch Celexa to another SSRI like Lexapro or Prozac. The bad things you read about Wellbutrin are probably that it lowers the seizure's threshold and it is true but there should not be anything to be worried about if you are not suffering from epilepsy or taking the medication as indicated by your doctor.
Avatar n tn I have never been on Celexa myself, but I have read many posts regarding withdrawal from it and it seems to take people a month or two to feel completely normal. If you put Celexa up in "Search Medhelp" you can read other posts specific to your question. Everyday should get a little better. Take care.......
Avatar n tn ssri withdrawal can be worse than opiate withdrawal. Doesn't have to be, but some are hit very hard by it. You seem to be one of those. Never stop these cold turkey. If you can't handle the withdrawal, go back on the last dose of Celexa at which you felt fine and taper down as slowly as you need to.
Avatar f tn That is a very interesting story, going cold turkey on Celexa and not having withdrawal side effects. For anyone reading, do not do this because the withdrawal mental effects can be unnecessarily agonizing and pointless. In your case, you had no choice the way you describe it, so I am not passing judgement. What was your dose? You should talk to a pharmacist immediately though for information.
Avatar n tn Does withdrawal from Celexa cause nausea & vomiting? I quit taking it cold turkey 5-6 days ago. While I realize this is not a good idea, it was not intentional. I called my pharmacy for a refill. They said I had no refills left and they would call my doctor for it. Unfortunately, this was over the weekend. Apparently, my doctor's office did not respond to the pharmacy's request.
1166402 tn?1303847056 You might be experiencing withdrawal from the Celexa. Remeron is a different antidepressant that will act differently on you neurotransmitters. For example, Celexa was only inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin while Remoron is an antagonist of the 5-HT1A receptor and is most likely to affect your dopamine and noradrenaline (by affecting the adrenergic and 5-HT receptors) levels while not inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin itself as it's a serotonin receptor antagonist.
457882 tn?1235377080 he also prescribed me 20 mg celexa and i wondered if i should wait to get over withdrawal or take it now as im going through the withdrawal...
Avatar n tn Just to say that I once tapered off Zoloft and was started on Celexa - the pdoc had me do this way too suddenly and I had bad withdrawal. In my case I found that the Celexa didn't help me and I wish I had realized this sooner, I waited months until I felt really horrid and ended up back on Zoloft. May not be the case with you, but just wanted to mention the possibility as I stuck with the Celexa too long.
Avatar f tn You are suffering what sounds to me like classic withdrawal symptoms of going off an ssri such as Celexa. When my psychiatrist switched me from Lexapro to Celexa, she still tapered me slowly off the Lexapro and slowly switched me over to the Celexa. Which is what your psychiatrist should have done, assuming you have a psychiatrist and aren't using a PCP -- they're clueless about these meds (so are most psychiatrists, but you at least have a fighting chance).
Avatar m tn My own experience is withdrawal can cause anything, but one of the side effects of being on Celexa is jaw clenching and other muscle tension. Odd it happens when you quit; happens to me when I'm on it.
Avatar f tn My Dr prescribed me Celexa for Anxiety several years ago and now I'm off of them after tapering off the medication per my Dr. But the side effects are awful. I have been having shortness of breath and my heart has been skipping beats on a regular basis. Is this normal? Hot flashes have been a nightmare along with being short at times with my family. Which I have read is normal. Thanks for letting me know about the shortness of breath and heart beats.
763297 tn?1281379425 I have been on depression meds for 2 years and im TTC but I can't just quit them suddenly because of the terrible withdrawl I have experienced in the past. I could whean off but im on 20 mgs of Celexa and it might take a while. Should I stay on it if im pregnant? I don't know what to do. Any advice would be great!
Avatar m tn First, you haven't lost any serotonin to replenish -- Celexa didn't increase your serotonin, it altered the way your body processes it and blocks its breakdown. I don't know if you stopped slowly or abruptly, but you could be suffering a withdrawal if you have a level of anxiety much greater now than that which you had that caused you go on the drug in the first place.
