celexa vs wellbutrin xl

I was on Wellbutrin xl for about a year but lost my insurance and was unable to afford it. It worked great except for an occasional panic attack. My doctor decided to try some different meds that would be on the walmart generic plan for $4. First it was zoloft that has awful sexual side effects, and in turn would cause problems with my husband. Now I am on celexa which I absolutely HATE!!! I am so tired. I have four children and I dread everyday that i have to get up.

This is a process called augmentation, but you only augment a primary medication that has been found to work but just not well enough. For depression, either celexa or wellbutrin would be a primary antidepressant to try first; usually it would be celexa if anxiety is present, as I assume it is or else the valium would be counterproductive. Wellbutrin is a more stimulating antidepressant, and so wouldn't usually be a primary med for someone with anxiety.

With me the Celexa just killed my libido and had no desire for anything. My doctor then weaned me off the Celexa and put me on the Bupropion XL. He started me for 7 days on 150 mg and then went to 300 mg. Everyone is different but the Bupropion gave me back my libido and still keeps my depression in check. I do recall my doctor saying the Bupropion can take a few weeks to get the full effect since I had already been on the Celexa.

I started the Wellbutrin XL 150mg about 2 weeks ago. No side effects, or positive effects - really, no effect at all. I just went up to the 300mg (it's been 2 days), and I want to make sure my side effects are normal. I have a call into my doctor as well. I have had a dull, constant headache. A little light-headed if I get up too quickly. Haven't been sleeping well, but that's not too bad. The worst symption I'm having is lower back pain...

I just started wellbutrin four days ago. I am taking 150mg XL with Lamictal. (The reason I started the Wellbutrin is because I was taking Celexa and couldn't handle the weight gain). The last two days I have been edgy, angry, yelling, up and down in my emotions. Fine one hour and angery the next. This is worse then when I wasn't on it. I am wondering if these are symptoms starting out with it, gets worse then better? Did anyone have side effects starting this medication? Thanks.

Hello, i was taking Wellbutrin Xl 300mg for 2 yrs. the last 6 months i was taking a generic brand. However, i became very depressed i the last 2 months. i was hospilized 3 weeks ago. They took me off of Wellbutrin and now i take Celexa and Remeron. However, i dont like their side effects. So today i switched back to Wellbutrin. Can i do this? i took it around 9:20am this morning, then 20 min later i began to feel lightheaded and my heart was racing. Is this normal?

Hi. I started wellbutrin xl 150 mg a few months ago after having tachycardia chest tightness and panic. Upped it to 300 mg after a few weeks. I also have clorazepate (tranxene) 7.5 mg for when needed. Then after having tachycardia still I started metoprolol 25 mg (which I cut in half) to help with daily anxiety and lower my heart rate. It has definitely lowered my heart rate but I still don't feel right. Still have an uneasy feeling and tightness in my chest.

i was on 60 mg of celexa, the maximum dose and did fine. try out the new medication. its not like you're risking any serious long term side effects like tardive dyskinesia, which is associated with antipsychotics.

I was on Prozac many years ago and I tried those other drugs over the past year when it reared its ugly head again but I choose Wellbutrin. I was initially on 150 XL like you but I needed a boost when my OCD kicked into overdrive so I went to 300 XL. It did make me more jittery at first but after about 4-6 weeks, it went away and I feel GREAT! I needed a little klonopin during the day in the beginning to combat the jitteryness but once I hit the sweet spot, I was on my way.

My dr, said she looked it up in her book, and Wellbutrin XL 150mg, is only prescribed for SAD and to quit smoking. She did not want to prescribe the XL at all no mater what I said. She prescribed me Regular Wellbutrin 100mg twice per day. I do not want the regular wellbutrin as it will make me shakey, and I will not follow through with taking 2 pills per day...

I have been put on wellbutrin as well as my 60 mg of celexa which is the highest you can go on that drug. I have added the wellbutrin with the celexa for only 2 days and I feel better even cleaned my toaster never done that in my life. It's giving me energy galore. I know I need to be on a depression medication, but haven't had much success with the ones I've tried. I am just up and down in my moods and get angry at certain people for no reason.
