Celexa vs wellbutrin

Common Questions and Answers about Celexa vs wellbutrin

celexa

i was on 60 mg of celexa, the maximum dose and did fine. try out the new medication. its not like you're risking any serious long term side effects like tardive dyskinesia, which is associated with antipsychotics.
but anyhoo, my doctor put me on celexa 40mg last week, i did that for 2 days and that was too much. so i called and asked if i could cut them in half and he said yes. well i still feel like that is too much. i am just really tired and dont have much desire to get out of bed. i am thinking i should cut the half in half. i only weigh 120lbs so i am thinking maybe i dont need such a high dose. does anyone have any experience with this. and by the way, i have never left this site.
Wellbutrin is not an SSRI (Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) like Paxil, Lexapro, Prozac, Zoloft, Celexa, and a few others. Wellbutrin is an NDRI (Norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitor) which may not be what your body needs. There are different TYPES that work differently with the brain chemistry. After thorough testing from a mental health profession, such as a psychiatrist, they should be able to tell you what type of medication would be the best fit for you.
So she upped my dosage and 2 days later I caled her and went back in. That's when I stopped the burpro. immidiatly and she put me on celexa and klonopin for the anxiety. Best to you, Kelli It didn't take but a few days for me to start feeling sooooo much better. I don't have the anxiety like before and I haven't even needed to take any of the klonopin, I like the Celexia very much. I almost feel like a gifferent person because of the med change.
Your research is correct that enough studies have not been done to list antidepressants as completely safe. They are all more "compare pros vs cons" with respect to pregnancy. My dr prescribed wellbutrin for me after my first trimester, during which he said he wouldn't have given me anything.
I was put on 150mgs of Wellbutrin XL roughly a month ago. In addition to Wellbutrin XL, I was also taking .5mgs of ativan 2x daily prn, 150mgs Straterra, and 100mgs Lamictal before bedtime. Shortly after taking the Wellbutrin, I began to feel very irritable and angry towards others.
My doctor gave me a prescription for Wellbutrin. I am nervous about using it. Scared it wont work like Celexa did and I'm afraid of gaining more weight. I can't take that risk. I am 5'2 and now way 188 pounds. At the beginning of 2004 I weighed 136. I can be on Celexa and feel better except feeling like a fat cow. I am so messed up right now I can't even decided if I should try the Wellbutrin or not. :( Not really a question here I guess, just comment and concerns.
I have a friend that took wellbutrin and it killed his sex drive. Don't know if that matters to you, but maybe that's a side affect?
Yesterday morning I popped my first Wellbutrin XL. Wellbutrin for those neuro pharmacologically healthy is an AD (antidepressant). First time with ADs, and as mentioned in a previous thread, it's not so much I feel *depressed* as feeling a lack of motivation to get back to what is left of my former life.
Most ADs cause weight gain. Wellbutrin usually does not. But, wellbutrin can exacerbate anxiety. Effexor affects people differently. It makes some people tired, makes others more energetic. You can decide for yourself whether your depression is caused by environmental factors, or whether it is "endogenous" or coming from within. I do not believe there have been long term studies on SSRIs, but the patents on some ssris (paxil, prozac) are expired, so they are available as generics.
Hi. I'm on tamoxifen so I can't take any meds which inhibit cyp2D6 enzymes. I've been on almost ALL SSRI ( Effexor, lexapro, celexa, nortriptyline, fetzima, & viibryd) & my depression worsens with them (suicidal thoughts, etc). The only one that has helped is remeron but every time I've had to return to remeron I gain weight. I'm usually 110-112 and eat very well & workout almost everyday.
I also take celexa and wellbutrin for depression and adderal was introduced because i was becoming depressed again feeling unmotivated and frankly lethargic....i worry i am doing a "bad" thing to my head....any feedback would be appreciated....
I am 49 and ejaculation during intercourse or the other before mentioned ways has never been something that did not occur until about 3 years ago during my marriage problems which lead to a divorce. Since then I've had 2 long term sexual relationships where the problems continue. I do take Wellbutrin,Celexa and Clonazepam. I do not have that much trouble with erections though at times I lose it during intercourse which didn't use to be an issue, because I ejaculated shortly afterwards.
The fogginess came back - could that be the depression though and the fact that maybe the Wellbutrin is not working? The Wellbutrin also makes me frustrated and moody and unable to concentrate a lot of the time I am finding. My Dr. wants me to try Effexor -- 37.5 mg or whatever -- I am supposed to start taking it today but I am afraid after reading all the harsh side effects and withdrawl people go through with it.
I decided I didn't want to keep trying all these different things since I get such severe side effects and that since the Effexor worked so well I'd have to live with the sexual side effect. The Dr kept me on Wellbutrin to offset any weight gain. Can Wellbutrin offset any weight gain even if I wasn't losing weight on it? Anyway, I was at my regular internist this week and updated him on what the other Dr had done. He suggested Buspar since it doesn't cause either side effect.
I am on Tareg for blood pressure, from specialist....then my GP put me on Wellbutrin and klonopin .... which my specialist took me off and said take Xanax only with the Tareg. Any comments much appreciated.
What about Celexa? Lexapro was created as basically a drug similar to Celexa that is supposed to be easier to tolerate, but some find they tolerate Celexa better. If you saw results with the Lexapro, but the fatigue was bad, perhaps Celexa may be a good alternative. Just a suggestion. I would try that or the Prozac before the Paxil, just my opinion.
2) Am I better off with Paxil/Zoloft + Wellbutrin or Buspar, or is my non-reaction to Wellbutrin a sign that it wouldn't do much in combination w/ Paxil? 3) Any other drug/combo better for my condition and side effects experience?
Drugs made me feel better and trying to live without them just feels like a long dark tunnel with nothing to look forward to. I have been on paxil, celexa, elavil, doxepin, effexor, abilify, prozac, wellbutrin, seroquil and god knows what else, too many to count and nothing helps. If it weren't for my kids I wouldn't even want to live any more, just not worth the fight.
Wellbutrin SR is an antidepressant that is usually prescribed in doses of 150 mg twice a day, which may be increased to a maximum dose of 200 mg twice a day. Because of the risk of seizures, the total daily dose of Wellbutrin SR should not exceed 400 mg. Celexa is a different type of antidepressant that is usually prescribed in starting doses of 20 mg daily. With the limited information provided, it is impossible for me to say which of the two medications is most appropriate for you.
1. Sertraline (Zoloft) 2. Escitalopram (Lexapro) 3. Buproprion (Wellbutrin) 4.Citalopram (Celexa) 5.Fluoxetine (Prozac) 6. Milnacipran (Savella) 7. Mirtazapine (Remeron) 8. Venlafaxine (Effexor) 9. Paroxetine (Paxil) 10. Duloxetine (Cymbalta) 11. Fluvoxamine (Luvox) 12. Reboxetine (Vestra) would just interject, what works for one, doesn't for another - so even though this grand compilation of different studies shows the top drugs, it doesn't mean it's the end all be all.
Depends on your md but zoloft and wellbutrin( no clue how to spell that) are frequently prescribed to pregnant women. Also depends on how severe the depression is a risks vs benefits thing. As far as anxiety not really sometimes anti depressants help. My md said take benadryl, it doesn't make you less anxious but makes you sleepy...
I have talked to alot of folks on here, and the above mentioned especially Priapism and hallucinations do not occur in my experience, if you look at the stats, it's highly improbable that anything happens. Wellbutrin can neuter a guy, as well as other drugs in that class, Wellbutrin being the safest of not losing your libido. You have to look at what you are going through vs. some of the side effects.
