I will do that it seems the higher dose has created this and I'm not on anything else.
Has anybody gotten a stuffy head and "funny feeling" eyes as a side effect from SSRI's. I have had these side effects before but they went away after a month or so. I'm on Celexa and this stuffy feeling(like you are coming down with a cold) seems to be sticking with me. The med is working well except for this uncomfortable feeling in and around my eyes.
So today my Celexa dose was upped from half a pill to 1 whole pill and the side effects are coming back like when I first started... Sweaty, can't sleep, headache, stiff neck, clenching teeth... Etc. I don't know what to do. I tried taking stuff for it, including an Oxy but still no change. What can I take to make these side effects not so bad? I don't see the dr till Thursday, so I can't ask her... If anyone has any suggestions?
s taken along with an SSRI that does have those side effects, does it minimize or cancel out those side effects possibly? I know there is no guarantee, I was just wondering. At one point he suggested going back on Lexapro with Wellbutrin but I refused to go back on Lexapro since I didn't want to gain more weight. Now I am wondering, if Wellbutrin does cancel out those side effects possibly, maybe if the Celexa doesn't work I should go back to Lexapro with Wellbutrin.
Did you taper off the vibryd or quit abruptly? You can't just switch from one medication to another even in the same class and avoid withdrawal -- these meds are not easy to stop taking and it must be done carefully. Unless you completely stop taking a medication before starting another it's impossible to tell if your symptoms are a sign you're suffering withdrawal and quit too quickly or are side effects of the new medication.
Had sexual side effects and gained some weight but I am not positive is from the Lexapro but I think may be. The Dr gave me Effexor which knocked me out for 3 days, slept 36 hours straight, then Celexa which I broke out in a rash all over my body from. He tried Wellbutrin but that did nothing. I didn't lose weight on it like some people do.
My last Celexa dose was last Wednesday and this is Wednesday, a week later. The side effects of the drug continue as before. I am not having the electric zaps which are apparently a withdrawal symptom. Instead, I have just continued to feel the same side effects as when I was taking the drug. Not as bad but still pretty uncomfortable. Ironically, my insomnia is gone and I'm am sleeping well now. Has anyone out there experienced this with such a short course of Celexa (Citalapram)?
ve just been put on citalopram for depression and BDD and after reading the reviews and side effects leaflets, im worried about gaining weight on this medication...Is it the actual increase in hunger that causes weight gain or the tablet itself? I am quite worried about this as my body image issues make me scared about putting on weight..
The withdrawal could just be from the difference in the chemical makeup of the Cymbalta and the Celexa even though both are an SSRI. My Doctor started me slowly on Celexa (30 mg) for 7 days and then upped me to 60 mg so the side effects wouldn't be so bad. Celexa was very good, but I started to lose a lot of weight on it so he switched me to Wellbutrin.
Just hang in there and keep taking your medicine as your doctor has prescribed. You'll get through it.
I am convinced that my Celexa is a major culprit in my weight gain. Before Celexa, I was on Zoloft, and the first week on Zoloft I lost weight, but then stabilized and slowly began to gain weight. the weight gain was not a big amount but it did happen.
Then a few yrs later, I began having problems on Zoloft so my Doc switched me to Celexa, and "whamo!", BIG WEIGHT GAIN! It was amazing!
On top of the weight gain, Celexa has made me lethargic and very tired.

Quitting an antidepressant abruptly is not advised -- although wellbutrin isn't one of the worst for withdrawal, they can all be difficult to stop taking and usually are tapered off. This is especially true when switching to a med in a completely class.
I've read that there is sexual side effects with Celexa, but my question is will this go away?? I've been on Celexa for 2 weeks, I've tried to have sex twice now- I'll get right to the point of an orgasm and nothing...its like all the feeling goes away. Getting frustrated!! I NEVER have had any problems but now I do..I love the way I feel on Celexa, Im losing weight (which is a plus)..I just don't like the sexual side...
I know of two instances - one person switched from Paxil to Celexa and a second person switched from Effexor to Celexa - neither had any side effects. By the way, there was no "tapering off" period used for either one of these two people - changed the following day to the new medication.
I just started wellbutrin four days ago. I am taking 150mg XL with Lamictal. (The reason I started the Wellbutrin is because I was taking Celexa and couldn't handle the weight gain). The last two days I have been edgy, angry, yelling, up and down in my emotions. Fine one hour and angery the next. This is worse then when I wasn't on it. I am wondering if these are symptoms starting out with it, gets worse then better? Did anyone have side effects starting this medication?
