t on it at all, the only bad side effect was loss of sex drive and libido etc. no weight gain or loss that i noticed. I have bipolar 1, and was on other medication at the time. as you probably know everyone is different when it comes to these types of medication so please don't be discouraged by my comment. My dad was on it for 10 years and said it was the best thing he had ever tried for depression.
I've just been put on citalopram for depression and BDD and after reading the reviews and side effects leaflets, im worried about gaining weight on this medication...Is it the actual increase in hunger that causes weight gain or the tablet itself? I am quite worried about this as my body image issues make me scared about putting on weight..
I'm currently on Paxil and Xanax, and have been experiencing a complete loss of appetite most days. I started eating a few days ago, but I'm only on 10mg a day for the Paxil. It takes a while for stuff to kick in, but this med has made me lose 10 lbs in 2 weeks. When I was 14 (I'm now 25) I was put on Celexa, and I was on it for a couple of years. I remember the Dr. increased my dosage a few times, and eventually I felt like a zombie. And YES I did gain weight.
Guilty as charged but a good tool if a patient is truly their own best advocate. Unexplained Weight Loss/Appetite Loss/Depression are all symptoms of various cancers, thyroid issues.
So...I'm scared and sad and a bit at a loss. The weight continues to drop (indicated more by clothes fit than scale) and it seems to my eyes to be more muscle than fat. I continue to have nearly no interest in food and at this point, 2 drs are going to blame a nearly 30 lb weight loss on anxiety. Again...

I have been on celexa since it first hit the market - many, many years. I am up to 80 mg/day. I've also gained more than 50 pounds! How can I get off this drug and start weight loss and a healthy attitude? I swim 3 times/week and walk the other two days and am also on Nutri-system. No weight loss!! Please help.
i bought 3 months supply at the apidexin website after viewing alor of reviews of people claiming that it really works with fast and amazing results. Been taking it for a week now and i havent noticed no weight loss or increased energy. I was already eating less and watching the food i eat so kept that the same and nothing. Has anyone else tried this product? Usually in the reviews they claimed to see avg. 5lbs less in a week.
Hi everyone! Iv been taking celexa for the last four years for depression and anxiety and my doctor wants me to try Cymbalta as my celexa is no longer working and I have been suffering from pain that they believe is nerve related. Iv ready alot of reviews on this drug and not sure if its something I want to take, then again, iv read really good reviews on it. Anyone out there ever taken this drug and if so how was your experience with it.

In addition, that blood work I mentioned...I was out of range for Lymphocytes and apparently, a fast is required prior go Lipase/Amylase testing. I was not told to fast.

lagoya, thanks for the reply! It does help to know that others have experienced weight loss. Most of the research you find on IBS indicates that weight loss is a "red flag" symptom. They usually put the tag of "unexplained" on that, but when you're not feeling well and think that your symptoms are being caused by something serious, then the weight loss is unexplained to you...LOL!

I am at the 3 month mark after weening myself from Celexa. I struggle every day with weight loss. I measure everything I put into my mouth. I exercise every day. I have only lost 4 pounds. I now realize how horrible Celexa made me feel. I was completely exhausted all of the time...didn't have the ability to care about anything. I feel so alive without the drug but my sex drive still hasn't come back. I don't like being in public anymore due to my weight.
So , I have been on celexa for about 5 years and went off that because of my crazy weight gain.. Went on Effexor for about 6 months and I am gaining more weight!!! I have cut my calories, cut my sugar , went to a Nutrisionist , ate exactly how I am supposed to, exercised everyday, cardio and weights .. I have always been skinny ..
Highly unlikely. There is really no supplement that will help you lose weight and keep it off except those that increase your metabolism, and that will be temporary as well. This is just an amino acid supplement with colostrum, which is a very odd thing to put in a weight loss product. This substance is naturally only found in the first batches of mother's milk of mammals and helps to build an infant's immune system. Have no idea how it would help you lose weight.
