1460652 tn?1340248730 When can I expect to feel positive effects from a dosage increase of an ssri? I have been on celexa for 8 weeks, slowly going up from 5 to 20 mg. I've been on 20 mg for 7 days and still feel anxious...how long does it take for a new dosage to yield positive effects?
Avatar m tn I have been on Celexa 20mg for about 6 weeks. My doc has upped it to 30mg...what side effects should I expect?
Avatar f tn It seems like the anxiety has been for a few weeks. I have been upping my Celexa very slowly to the normal dose I have taken in the past. Every time I up it, there's always a small adjustment period if a about a week which causes me anxiety. But that window has closed. I was thinking ut's the birth control. Unless I am getting addicted to Lunesta or Xanax. Again I take them maybe twice a week. Meds Celexa 15mg Lunesta 3mg Xanax .
Avatar m tn I started Celexa 3weeks ago do to severe anxiety and panic attacks. I have been feeling great the past couple of weeks but the last night I woke up in a major panic attack and this morning all the anxiety is back. I have only been taking 10 mg of Celexa. Do I need to go up to 20? This is just so frustrating!
Avatar f tn She said the headache was a normal reaction to the upped dosage. I asked her about the paperwork with the prescription that said to mention to your doctor if you are dehydrated, which I usually am cuz I just don't drink enough during the day. She said that it is very important to drink a lot of non-caffeine fluids while on Celexa. I've upped my water intake and the headache seems to have subsided.
1330182 tn?1279815900 I just started Celexa just over a week ago (2.5mg/day) Should I be taking the Celexa in the morning with my pancake or should I take the klonopin to calm myself down then take the Celexa with some food later? I guess what I am trying to figure out is if the Celexa is making my anxiety worse by taking it during my morning anxiety attack.. If anyone has some experience with this, I would love to hear from you.. I did try to bump up the Celexa to 5mg yesterday and had an upset tummy..
697574 tn?1273955747 This is typical, they always start us out on a low dosage and go from there. This is completely normal, so call your doctor and get some relief. Take care.
383943 tn?1217722721 My five year old daughter was put on celexa 2 days ago she is a very anxious little girl, since she started the medicine she seems to be even more nervous she acts like it actually speeds her up or something is this normal? Will she get better at focusing as the medicine is in her system longer?

1305767 tn?1361192676 He didn't really say much. Just upped my dosage of Celexa, gave me more ativan and ordered some blood work. I'm supposed to call my regular physician on Monday.
497348 tn?1283436066 I am just started on weaning from tramadol. I am prescribed. Xanax and Celexa. I never started the celexa because the scare of SSRI syndrome. To much seretonin release. do you like Celexa had helped you.
1460652 tn?1340248730 I have just increased my dosage of celexa from 10 mg to 15 mg. I am really nervous and shaky and dont want to be around people. I can't sleep, i feel strung out, and am nauseous. My dr says to hang in there and keep taking it. I have heard that the anxious feelings are normal but I guess i just want some input. The anxiety isn't unbearable, should I just tough it out? The bad part is im supposed to go up to 20 mg in 3 days!
1302779 tn?1287405029 Mammo did u ever hear of anyone on this dosage? I am only on celexa since oct 26th after swiching from lexapro due to insurance. so it been a month! but i was on lex for 5 weeks before that. i feel good taking the klonopin in the morning at the same time as my celexa. im just wondering is the celexa supposed to work on my anxiety? just confused i guess?
Avatar f tn I agree with gimel - please post your most recent lab results, along with the reference ranges from your lab report, since these vary from lab to lab. That will help us see just where your levels are. Keep in mind that being hypo can also cause depression, the weight gain/inability to lose, etc. If, even your doctor says "low normal" - that probably means you are under medicated. What med/dosage are you on?
Avatar n tn Can I just quit taking celexa cold turkey? I have been real tired and just not feeling like myself and I think its the celexa making me feel that way.
1460652 tn?1340248730 You need to follow your doctor's instructions with your medication. Switching when you take it is not a good thing to do, you want to take around the same time every day. Your doctor is increasing your dosage (which is normal at this point) because it's not being very effective at the current dosage. This is probably why you had the panic attack. Anytime you have questions or concerns about the medication, call your doctor he needs and wants to know how you're doing.
518117 tn?1429276273 I realize the starting dose for Celexa is 20mg. and that the maximum dosage is 60mg. My son Todd was in prison for 5 yrs. Was given 100mg. of Celexa the 5 yrs. he was in prison. Asked the nurse at the counseling center he was going to, would the overdose by 40mg. for 5 yrs., cause my son to have any problems. The nurse told me that this extra 40mg. would not make a difference or hurt Todd. That it would just cancel itself out. I hope someone can prove me wrong on this.
Avatar f tn Can I quit taking Celexa cold turkey? I have been taking 20mg of Celexa for almost 4 weeks and want to quit taking them cold turkey.
1302779 tn?1287405029 I always notice side effects when I start, stop, increase dosage, or decrease dosage of SSRIs like Celexa. I think the most important thing to do is to stay in close contact with your doctor; which it sounds like you are doing. In the past, when I was bothered by withdrawals, I called and he put me on a slower taper, which seemed to work fairly well....keep us posted!
930431 tn?1245638151 Medications will affect people in different ways, but I had an adjustment period when I first started taking an SSRI like Celexa. In my opinion, whenever you start, stop, or adjust dosage you will probably have some side effects. What time of day do you take the meds? For some, switching from night to morning can really help you while others prefer taking at night. It is a little trial and error when trying to find out what is best for you sometimes...keep us posted!
Avatar m tn So use extreme discretion if you choose to keep increasing your dosage of Celexa but personally I recommend you talk to your doctor about discontinuing the drug completely and asking about Lexapro. Once the correct dosage has been prescribed this may work very well for you. Depending on the dosage you are taking now you may consider a different doctor. I wish you well my friend. Take care.
672514 tn?1265655141 Whenever I adjust dosage of an SSRI like Celexa, there was an adjustment period where I would feel the same side effects as when I started the medication. But after a couple of weeks, everything would return to "normal." I know what you mean about medication. I was the exact same way the first time I took it. I was REALLY against it, but I found that it has helped me tremendously along with counseling. In my experience with anxiety, it can definitely come and go.
Avatar f tn Hi there...I'm not a doc so I can't speak to the dosage of medication. I do think that if the Lexapro is going to start working it will be within this last 4 to 6 week period....so the next two weeks or so. Did you ask about possibly a low dose trarnquilizer like klonopin to help you while you figure out the lexapro vs. celexa thing?
1618921 tn?1298822821 For the Celexa, if you are already on the Paxil, it will not be very dangerous to try it since your brain is already used to the extra serotonin level, you can switch from the Paxil to the Celexa without a washout period of time... you can try the Celexa for one day and see what happen? The Celexa and the Lexapro are apparently the easier SSRI's to take, they don't give a lot of side-effects.... BUT again everyone is different...
Avatar m tn I been on 15 mg celexa for 5 weeks now and it has helped me a little some of my anxiety symthoms have got better but I still feel like I can't breath and scared to be home alone because I have to be around people so if something bad happens someone can help me. Is this normal? or is my dose to low?
Avatar n tn t have enough information to know that the Celexa rewires your brain, and coming off involves you rewiring it back to normal. So the rewiring phase can be brutal if not phased in. My doc tapered me off my normal 30mg by 10 mg at a time every 2 weeks. The pharmacist thought he was overkilling, but doc even had me taking 5s for the last 2 weeks. I was lucky and had no pings or zaps, so there is no reason to cold turkey off Celexa, when you may avoid some or all withdrawals with a taper.
