Celexa and food interactions

Common Questions and Answers about Celexa and food interactions

celexa

Avatar n tn I take Levitra and am on Celexa and Ambien. My Psych NP said there were no interactions. I haven't been able to notice any odd side effects. But you should ask a pharmacist.
Avatar f tn My brother is taking 250mg of seroquel and 20mg of celexa, in addition to many other meds for tourettes, seizures and severe mental illness. For the past two years, he has been experiencing drop attacks. Lately, I've noticed his eyes twitching after fainting. He has been worked up for cardiac disease and had a 24 hr eeg but nothing has been found abnormal. Can these two drugs be the culprit. I read somewhere, they interfere with eachothers actions.
Avatar m tn CeleXa inhibits reuptake allowing more seratonin to be left in the synaptic gap causing the threshold for the nerves firing to be techniquelly less because less has to be delivered for the spark to occur since more is already there and available. I have smoked M. for 2 years and recently started CeleXa. The only thing ive noticed thus far is that I am less affected by the M. now that I am on CeleXa.
Avatar n tn Go to Drugs/com you can enter any drug and get results of interactions Good Luck FTB4

Avatar m tn My question about the benzos is should i tell my new doc, the only one i can find aside from the one ive been seeing who takes my insurance that ive been diagnosed with schizophrenia, and am on seroquel, celexa, risperidal or should i omitt these parts and tell him the plain truth about how libruim helps me by, helping me keep my anxiety under control so i can work, which not working is causing dire straights for me, basically that the reason i need it along with helping anxiety in general.
Avatar f tn Ok so I was recently prescribed Celexa for depression/OCD and I already take some other meds, I wa wondering if they are ok to mix, because I have been getting an upset stomach since. I was already taking Oxy, naproxen, flexaril, emtec, ranitidine, xenical and sometimes Arbil and Tylenol, does anyone know if these are all ok together? Thanks!
731081 tn?1256283166 have to see if i can do that you have to watch the interactions...weel good luck and trust me and everybody else here you are not alone......
Avatar f tn Maybe its the interactions of all the drugs you take together. Or maybe your body is changing and buliding up a resistant to the long-term usage of this medication. IDK, I've just been told that are bodies start to resist anything that isn't "natural".
1082697 tn?1260064616 Firstly just because a side effect doesn't usually happen doesn't mean it can't occur and also it might be an interaction with the Celexa. They should look all this up in the pharmacy database that only physicians have access to. In the meantime you could go to the medication websites yourself or ask your pharmacist. They should definitely check into the interactions between the two as that might be a possibility. Zyprexa was quite sedating for so yes that is more typical though.

Avatar f tn Be sure to tell both of your doctors medical and psychiatrist what medications you are on from the other. If you have concerns about drug interactions and are not able to talk to your doctor about it right away you can always call and ask a pharmacist.
Avatar m tn When I went back to my doctor for a follow up on Friday, he also decided to put me on Xanax (PRN) and Celexa (10mg/1XD). I always research any medication I take, and have been reading that the Metoprolol Tartrate and the Citaprolam are a bad combination and can lead to extremely low blood pressure or even heart stoppage. I was wondering if anyone else out there has been prescribed these medications together, and if so, have you had any adverse reactions?
Avatar f tn No, no, no. You don't do these meds with a nurse practitioner, for goodness sake. You only do this with an experienced psychiatrist you trust. That's a lot of medication and potential interactions, and these meds are hard to start and hard to quit. And most importantly, if you're doing great, why do you want another drug? None of them completely rid one of the problem.
Avatar f tn I'm a 39 male with major depression and GAD. I take Celexa 40mg, Ativan 1mg, and Trazodone 100mg at bedtime. But the meds don't seem to work for my insomina. Can I add unisom or not a good idea to take also? I hate call my dr. tommorrow and tell him the meds aren't working for me. I have taken Ativan, Trazodone, and unisom to help me sleep before. My doc switch the Celexa from morning to nighttime tonight. And I was taking Ativan 3x a day now only at night or when needed.
Avatar f tn I am convinced that my Celexa is a major culprit in my weight gain. Before Celexa, I was on Zoloft, and the first week on Zoloft I lost weight, but then stabilized and slowly began to gain weight. the weight gain was not a big amount but it did happen. Then a few yrs later, I began having problems on Zoloft so my Doc switched me to Celexa, and "whamo!", BIG WEIGHT GAIN! It was amazing! On top of the weight gain, Celexa has made me lethargic and very tired.
Avatar m tn I asked the person in chare of the hep c treatment and all i got was you should take Riba with food so grapfruit is ok. I don't think they had a clue.
Avatar f tn Nsaids raise the risk of irritating your stomach, anyway. I have been on Celexa for awile and have never had to pass up another needed med because of it. I take omeprazole, also and did take Zyrtec for awhile, but it made me sleepy. I really wouldn't be anxious about interactions with OTC meds. Most of their labels will tell you what not to take them with. Good Luck!
Avatar m tn There should be a talk between your psychiatrist and doctor about which of those medications are neccessary and all potential interactions and adjusting and/or changing things as needed. If they are not speaking to each other about this and working together it would be essential to politely request that they be in touch with each other to coordinate.
1166402 tn?1303847056 It's funny you mentioned Wellbutrin. I was given a sample about 10 yrs ago for smoking sessation. I took if for 2 weeks and I remeber feeling kind of happy. It was strange, I woke up one morning and remeber feeling a little happier that I had in a long time. I ran out of the med and went back to smoking and not thougth about it until I started taking AD's. I knew nothing about them back then.
Avatar m tn Likewise, I was never told to avoid taking anything with my levothyroxine besides food and calcium/multivitamin (basically just not at the same time, but I could still have a multivitamin). I've also never had a problem taking benedryl (besides that it knocks me out) or any other drug with my hypothyroid meds. If you're on a drug for your hypothyroidism, there is this nifty tool at the top- under drugs, you can find drug interaction.
Avatar m tn As far as food im not sure look at your lable and the print out that came with your meds. I do know that asprin is forbidden.
Avatar f tn I take Hydrocodone 10/500-4 times a day, Soma 350mg-4 times a day, Celexa 20mg-once a day, Lipitor 20mg-once a day, Enjuvia 0.9mg-once a day, Motrin 1600mgs a day, Asprin 350mg-4 times a day, all these everyday for over a year. I had to take pain management urine drug test and it tested positive for Benzodiazepines and they said my Soma didn't show up at all.
Avatar f tn It's nearly impossible to gage the interactions between medications and supplements because supplements are not regulated and/or tested to the extent that medications are. My best and only advice would be to ask your physician, even he/she may draw a blank.
