Avatar f tn Liver Cancer Cells Coaxed To Commit Suicide By Common Anti-Inflammatory The anti-inflammatory drug celecoxib, known by the brand name Celebrex, triggers liver cancer cell death by reacting with a protein in a way that makes those cells commit suicide, according to a new study. Researchers also found that the combination of celecoxib with each of two chemotherapy drugs killed more liver cancer cells in culture, making those combinations more effective than either drug on its own.
Avatar m tn This virus and life with is so debilitating the emotional sigma is so much worst then physical and health risks. I simply don't understand why there is not more public campaigns to help remove the sigma from this disease. Seems like this is pushed to an underworld which no one wants to talk about. There numerous people come out and talk about and disclose their status with HIV.
Avatar f tn Stadol is partial agonist/antagonist drug that blocks the mu opiate receptors and stimulates the sigma opiate receptors.Tramadol stimulates the Mu receptors and possibly the sigma as well.Looks like Stadol will block the effects of tramadol, but I have been wrong before and maybe there is some new literature that supports the use of these drugs together.I just have not been able to find it.
Avatar m tn A man aged 81 was taking celecoxib 100mg daily following knee replacement surgery for osteoarthritis. Three weeks after commencing celecoxib he developed jellybean-shaped loss of vision centrally in each eye. This occurred every day after his morning dose and lasted for a few hours. The celecoxib was stopped and there was no recurrence of the visual disturbance.
Avatar m tn t seen anything positive about Celecoxib. My question is how long should I wait until I start taking this on a regular basis. Because, I have had many alcoholic drinks in my time, but if I stay sober should I be able to take this within 2 weeks? I'm only saying that because I'm assuming it might be a good window opportunity for my liver to start healing!
Avatar f tn Ah thanks for your comment,, I have tried celecoxib and arcoxia as my doctors advised but I already got immune with this meds as they can't controll the pain anymore..
Avatar m tn Our moral support is a big support such patients who have social sigma. I remember when I had doubt over my being HIV positive when I experienced some early symptoms related to HIV in my body and it were you who encouraged me to get tested. Since i have gone through this state of fear and i can understand the gravity of problem. Thus we all need to encourage patients so that they could live normally among us.
Avatar f tn I just did one after I fell and found out that I should not even be on half the medications I am on due to my Celecoxib. So I ended up falling the other day and really messed up my right ankle, low back, neck and right wrist. I was out camping with the hubby and so I took a couple of Benedryll to help me sleep since I was in so much pain...Very Bad Move, it dropped my Blood Pressure way down and caused me to be sensitive to the sun and get sunburned. I was so dizzy.

Avatar m tn Pentazocine rather is thought to active delta and sigma opioid receptors. These receptors have been implicated in dissociative and hallucinatory effects. You are at greater risk of having a seizure from using the medication than you are from withdrawal. I don't know a lot about the withdrawal syndrome, but it is not considered to be life-threatening.
Avatar m tn Celebrex or celecoxib, on the other hand, is used to treat pain or inflammation including headaches. Medication effect usually varies from one person to another. What is effective to one may not be as effective to another. It would be difficult to say which medicine has a better outlook. You can take the celebrex as an acute medication while the topamax may be your preventive medication. Discuss this with your doctor for proper management. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn She had surgery on 5/5 to remove tumor - included remover of omentum, full hysterectomy, and approx 10 cm of sigma colon removed (since tumor was around this part of colon). 2 small under 5 mm cancer tumors were left on diaphram - surgeon was confident chemo will handle. Otherwise, all cancer tumor was removed. A friend pointed out Mayo Clinic study from about 2006 that looked back at 244 patients that showed significant improval in 5 year survival by removing even under 1 cm spots on diagram.

Avatar f tn The same thing happened to me, Also have an allergy to Ibuprofen All of the Coxibs like celecoxib and even to ketarolac - as Dr_Veena said they do belong to NSAID group, however currently I'm very cautious in taking any drugs for headaches, different antipyretics like acetominophen and salicylates like aspirin.
Avatar n tn What has helped me the most is Celebrex (celecoxib); It is an anti-inflammatory and unlike over the counter ibuprofen it is safer for your stomach. You want to target reducing inflammation, instead of killing the pain (such as with Narcotics). If you simply kill the pain, you will revert to habits like poor seating position or movement patterns that can exacerbate the injury -- deadly cycle. Ice does this, as well.
Avatar f tn Tramadol does have effects at opiate receptors; I'm trying to remember if it works at the mu receptor, or only sigma receptors. Look it up on wikipedia; they have good info about most opiate medications. This early in 'sobriety' you need to avoid all psychotropic medications-- even benadryl. They all lead you back to the same old place.
453731 tn?1225199508 You should not take acetaminophen (Tylenol), aspirin, or NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) unless your doctor has told you to. NSAIDs include celecoxib (Celebrex), diclofenac (Voltaren), ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), indomethacin, naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn), piroxicam (Feldene), and others. These medicines may affect blood clotting and could cause serious bleeding in your stomach or intestines. Avoid sudden changes in your diet. Vitamin K decreases the effects of Coumadin.
Avatar m tn So went to hospital a week ago and did x-ray and blood test. Doctor has given me Celecoxib 200 mg capsules twice a day for 14 days and a gel to apply on my shoulder. Few times when I'm out I missed applying the gel but never missed the capsules (although once I had the capsules 4 hours late). Today I received the x-ray image and report by email, and still waiting for the blood test report.
Avatar m tn that Sundays party at the Kappa Sigma house had started the previous Wednesday and we were still in attendance. Weeks passed. Finally a letter from the Director of the Internal Revenue Service arrived for Scott. The letter indicated that the IRS felt that we were good people with no criminal intent. BUT they had no idea what we had in mind when that return was filed.
Avatar f tn She gave me Ethical ciprobiotic Uro, and an antiinflamitory; Celeco, celecoxib 400mg. 2 to 3 hours later I am now peeing alot of blood. How concerned should I be, becuase I feel slightly wonky and a little scared. I cant get ahold of my friend to take me to the hospital and cant go out alone now becuase its late. Is this normal to pee blood? Is this prescription to high for me?
Avatar n tn Furthermore, HCV-expressing cells treated with the inhibitors of Cox-2 celecoxib (Celebrex) and NS-398 showed significant reduction in PGE(2) levels. We also observed the enhanced phosphorylation of Akt and its downstream substrates glycogen synthase kinase-3beta and proapoptotic Bad in the HCV replicon-expressing cells. These phosphorylation events were sensitive to inhibitors of Cox-2 (celecoxib and NS-398) and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (LY294002).
