Celebrex use in dogs

Common Questions and Answers about Celebrex use in dogs

celebrex

Avatar m tn Meloxicam is just a glorified Ibuprofen/Aleve med, so you could always try those OTC. You can take up to 800 mg Ibuprofen every 8 hours or 500mg of Aleve twice a day in it's place. Celebrex is a name brand drug and insurance companies hate those namebrands. lol Your doc can sometimes do a prior authorization, though, to get them to pay for it, which is basically paperwork explaining that you' ve tried other things and this is the only drug that works for you.
Avatar m tn five days before I started to use Celebrex I have gone to a ophtalmologist to rotine examination. In that day my vision was perfect: the visual test for glasses presented no problems. Do you think there could be a relation between my problem an the use of Celebrex? I hope you could undertand my poor English. Best Regards, Alcibiades.
Avatar n tn She is 64 but she also has osteoporosis and arthritis in her lower back. The back doctor just prescribed Celebrex, is this the safest drug for her? Also what should people with Hep C do to better care for their liver eventhough so far she seems to have a healthy liver. For the osteoporosis she is on Fosamax. She has been on it for several years. I am just afraid that too many potent drugs can be harmful for her liver.
1388999 tn?1370042814 While pain in dogs can be treated with narcotics, it's not often that it's used for chronic pain situations outside an inpatient setting that can be closely monitored. I suspect part of the reason is diversion: too many people take the meds meant for their dogs. There are several NSAIDS to try that are safe for dogs. Deramaxx is a cox-II inhibitor like human Celebrex that worked the best for my dogs with osteoarthritis and one with hip dysplasia.
Avatar f tn I have been prescibed Celebrex for osteoarthris pain. Can it be taken every day for long term management of arthritis.
Avatar m tn Ime really worried about taking these etoricoxib even tho i was assured by the receptionist that they are not in the same family as celebrex and meloxicam..I really do believe that the celbrex caused you to have the bowel obstructions as with me it caused me to lose the lining of my stomach and also a huge flare up of ulcerative colitis which as soon as my own doctor the visited me i was rushed in and he told me i should never even of been given them..Anyway just be careful what you take.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I was on other meds, Celebrex, Skelaxin and am off of all except Neurontin. I have tapered the Neurontin to 500mg/day. This question is related to side effects that may be due to Neurontin or maybe my migraines. When I was on a higher dose of Neurontin I was getting almost daily visual disturbances in both eyes that looked like what my migraine auras look like but those are in one eye and are followed by a headache.
Avatar f tn They say my liver can take it, (stage 2 fibrosis). But I am afraid of the NSAIDs in celebrex, any one else taking it? Oh, I am on Methadone too. I am having my first liver biopsy in the morning, so I will find out more about my liver. I am scared to death about it coz I have had so many problems lately.
Avatar f tn sorry to jump in, but i had the impression that Celebrex was going to be taken out of the market for several reasons. It is not sold in South America because of that, since people were complaining about these symptoms you metion (upset stomach, etc) and one of them was "bouncing pain". Amy, did they put you straight on Celebrex, or did you try other mild over the counter painkillers? i suffer from both AS and MS, and i take higher doses of Advil or any other Iboprufen around.
443898 tn?1229700080 Is there any way you can be over medicated with the enbrel and celebrex? For the fatigue I use vitamin B complex. This really helps me. Good luck and dont give up!
Avatar dr m tn At first, of course, they give you the heavy hitters and then they weaned me off and put me on Celebrex. I still have chronic OA in the other joints in my body. My left knee is going to need to be replaced but I'm holding off as long as possible. Back to the Celebrex, it really isn't working for me at all. Can't figure it out with all the great reviews it receives. I'm in bed all day with pain some days worse than others.
Avatar f tn This might not be a potential case for lawsuit. These are the known side effects of celebrex, which may be more pronounced in some individuals. Though celebrex carries the risk of gastritis and GI ulceration, like other NSAIDS; the incidence is slightly lower as compared to others. Symptom of GI reflux can be aggravated by it. Rhythm abnormalities (early de-polarisation/ re-polarisation) may not be related to celebrex use.
548642 tn?1266179652 I take Celebrex and was in fact put on it by the h ead honcho at Shands at the university of Florida. I have RA and the mainstay drug for an RA flare is Prednisone. Since steroids are a big no no on treatment, Shands recommended that I go on Celebrex when I started this round of tx. I have Stage 3/4 liver damage. They must feel the benefits far outweigh the risks in my case.
Avatar m tn My question is.....could excess/regular use of alcohol worsen the symptoms? I am hoping that perhaps a lifestyle change can alleviate some of his issues with OA. He was on Celebrex for a short period but doctor took him off (as its not great long term) to see how he feels. Any other tips, thoughts or helpful ideas are appreciated. Thanks!
Avatar m tn I am currently in a tremendous amount of pain in my fingers, elbows, shoulders, left knee and left hip. Volteran gel has not helped at all and neither has Aleve. Can I take tramadol with these two drugs? I have recently switched my insurance and am waiting to get into a new rheumatologist.
370181 tn?1595629445 My mom who is also suffering from chronic pain due to a back injury she sustained from a bad fall eight years ago, was also prescribed Celebrex by a surgeon who is an expert in pain management. Well, my mom was on the Celebrex for only two days. She felt very ill on the Celebrex and went off the Celebrex by herself as it was making her symptoms worse. Yes, I've also heard that Celebrex has cardiac risks, didn't know about the g i bleeding.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I agree with RunningMom and Sherry. You should see your PCP and tell them what's going on and ask for an MRI. It sounds like you may have a bulging or herniated disc that is causing muscle spasms. Definetly try to get an appt that works with your husband's schedule so that he can drive you. I use a pillow or two when I'm riding in the car and I use one of those neck pillows when I drive.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome here-.... i have no experience of taking them for pain but i have heard many people here saying that after quitting them, they experience less pain than while they were on the pills... there is the socalled rebound pain after quitting, you will experience bouts of inreased pain but it does gets better so i will commend you for trying a new way without addictive painkillers to deal with your pain...You don't have to be a martyr either...
531416 tn?1213145679 Hi Kimberly66, Check my post i just putted about Celebrex vs neuropathy cause as i understand you have use Celebrex in the past and its exactly my case and now i'm coping with neuropathy. I'm sure Celebrex is the cause of it. Good luck.
1831920 tn?1320857757 I suggest you look up some articles on crate training and have your husband read them. We are not talking in humane crating here. He probably has visions if puppy mill dogs. Many of us here are experienced and "humane" dog people. Dogs are basically den animals. All my dogs have usually gone in their crates on their own to nap, my little one is in her crate now. I leave the door open. If your dog is ill or injured, the crate comes in handy.
Avatar f tn Up until February, I had been on opiates for a few years. Norco along with Celebrex and Robaxin (muscle relaxer). I had more side effects from all the NSAID's I was on before my insurance would finally approve Celebrex, than I did with the Norco. The only side effect I had with Norco was nausea with vomiting only when it got really bad. But that was only if I took it on an empty stomach. But the pain relief outweighed the nausea because I took an anti histamine to counter act it.
Avatar f tn No, it would be unheard of for Celebrex to damage your heart valve. Celebrex and similar drugs do cause high blood pressure in many individuals, though. You might have gone forever and not known about the heart valve if you had not gotten high blood pressure from the Celebrex. Follow whatever advice the cardiologist gave you, and don't worry.
Avatar n tn I have been using Celebrex for over 15 year and in January I lost the use of my legs. I was taken to hospital and after four days I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy and spinal stenosis. This has completely destroyed my life. My mother also took Celebrex and she suffered with neuropathy until her death.
Avatar f tn I take celebrex and it seems to give me some relief.Because its an anti-inflammatory med, it could help a lot with swollen areas. Sometimes it's tough to tell when you are several different meds - which one helps the most? I've never had a bad reaction to celebrex and it's easier on the stomach than ones like naproxen - which caused an ulcer in lower esophogous. Hope and pray it gives you relief.
