Celebrex for cramps

Common Questions and Answers about Celebrex for cramps

celebrex

I had had a problem with anti flams for a while and i new i couldnt take celebrex as i had terrible cramps in my stomach. My doctor gave me the meloxicam by mistake, he done it again the other day but luckily i spotted it and he apologised and changed them to etoricoxib. Please be careful when you are given pain relievers and anti flams. Ime really worried about taking these etoricoxib even tho i was assured by the receptionist that they are not in the same family as celebrex and meloxicam..
I have been prescribed all sorts of medications for them from Celebrex to hydrocodone(turns out that I am hyper-sensitive to it). At the moment my prescription is 4 200mg Ibuprofen every 3-4 hours when the cramps start. Could it be something besides just cramps? I am 21, not sexually active(ever), Pap smear came back normal(6 months ago), pelvic exam was normal, menstruation starts for about 3 days then stops for a day or so then starts again for another 3 days.
ouch! I feel for you.I had those cramps in my legs for years, and none of the medico's i spoke to seemed to have any practical advice. Man they are agony, many a night I literally dragged my self to the shower (as you have been doing with your bath) to get any relief. Where I started to hear others experiencing similar problems was in my work up for a liver transplant. (Up till then though, I found great relief in mineral supps,(magnesium and zinc especially).
i don't know about headaches, other than warm compresses have worked for me in the past (so have cold..) the endo.. hmm. well, i have fibroids and when i get severe menstrual cramps, 3 Aleve generally knock it right out! and don't upset my stomach, either... feel good, hun...
For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
Celebrex, Lyrica and now Soma at bedtime... the combination seems to work well for me. I find I'm getting foot cramps more frequently and someone told me... drink pickle juice, I thought this is very weird! The other day I had a cramp that wouldn't release so I had 2 pickles (half sour) and 1 gulp of pickle juice... it released and didn't come back... works for leg cramps too...
For cramps try Advil or ask your doctor for a stronger prescription anti-inflammatory. I use Celebrex for shoulder and back pain but it also helps with cramps and cuts down on heavy bleeding.
I have been on Tramadol 2 tablets 2x day for about 15 months. I was prescribed it for menstrual cramps and only took it for about 2-3 days a month. Then I got pregnant and had no need for it. My husband and I went on a trip and I forgot my breast pump so I had to "dry up" cold turkey. The only thing we had with us for pain was some Tramadol from the year prior to getting prego.
ive taken celebrex for cramps (only thing that seems to work actually) and i had no stomuch problems! any drug if used over an extended period of time will cause problems. and all drugs have different effects on different people. thats why doctors tell u, if u have issues after taking any medication - dont take it! i worked for a doctors office, and maybe half of our patients were on celebrex IF it was right for them.
At that time i got a steroid injection which seemed to deal with the problem, except all the pain came back about 2 months ago i have had to take off from my union construction painting job for the last 3 weeks . Hopeing that rest would help, it has not. I have been prescribed celebrex, it has done nothing for the paini have tried motrin , it has been no help. i go to see the ortho doctor friday morning. i was wondering if there is any pain medacation i should ask for .
I have been medically discharged from the Army for a bad back. I am on several medications, including Percaset, Gabapentin, prilosec, Amerix, Bystolic, Celebrex, and Mirapex. The first year i was on these pills, i was constipated all the time to where i was even given a liquid to drink to flush me out. About 12 weeks ago i started having diarrhea and bad cramps tw to three days a week. I have a different doctor now and she put me on probiotics. Should i get a colonostomy?
They denied Celebrex and even recommended a PPI (ulcer med) to take with the NSAID's because they didn't want to pay for Celebrex. After they denied me 4 or 5 times, they finally approved it. So now I take 400mg of Celebrex a day and it's a lot more effective than any other NSAID i've been on.
Here are the side effects of ibuprofen from the Drug Information Handbook: "1% to 10%: Central nervous system: Headache (1% to 3%), nervousness (<3%), fatigue (<3%) Dermatologic: Itching (1% to 3%), rash (3% to 9%), urticaria Endocrine & metabolic: Fluid retention Gastrointestinal: Dyspepsia (1% to 3%), vomiting (1% to 3%), abdominal pain/cramps/distress (1% to 3%), peptic ulcer, GI bleed, GI perforation, heartburn, nausea (3% to 9%), diarrhea (1% to 3%), constipation (1% to 3
I initially took celebrex a few years ago for degenerative disc disease. I was totally clean in AA/NA and wasn't on opiates. Celebrex seemed to do me well. The only warning was "don't use NSADs if on blood thinners". So, of course I had to start up on blood thinners after a TIA. That was the end of Celebrex for me. Later my back got worse when I herniated one of the bad discs. Then I was started up on Vicodin 7.
I have lots of pain in my joints and now many muscle spasms, for which I take Celebrex and Methocarbomal. they help a lot, but the pain pills (Darvocette) work for the rest of the pain. Has you doc decided whether or not you have Lupus? I have Lupus (SLE) and Sjogren's Syndrome. I don't have a clue about your lumps. I did see a news blip yesterday about a man with HPV that caused lumps to grow alllllllll over him, to the point of making him look like a tree trunk.
3 weeks ago I had the most severe attack of menstrual cramps I have ever had. So I took 800mg of Celebrex to try to stop the pain. The next morning my face and hands were puffed right out, my hands were so tight and shiny it hurt. After 4 days I went to a doctor as the swelling had not yet subsided. He told it was from the Celebrex (half life of 11hours).
feeling of fullnes in fingers no visible swelling-still some stiffness today when waking but no cramps during sleep.GP pres Vioxx took for 1mo and then switched to celebrex then in 5/04 feet started having foot cramps and I noticed what I call fasciculations. On occasion big toe would move from side to side and 3rd and 4th toes would move up and down.Had a little trouble with words example Clue instead of crew, tickle instead of trickle.
I had the same thing with my right knee and the Dr said it was a Bakers cyst. I put hot compresses on it and it finally went away, don't know what caused it, but it sure did hurt.
Well you could get the memory form to sleep on ask your doctor for some hydrocodone it works well for acute pain. Also for sleep try valium or xanax. That is what I do and I am just being testing due to recent hep c test positive. May God be with you and pray.
I have been taking it every morning for about three months, and for the last several weeks I have had diarrhea and stomach cramps every single day after lunch...not after breakfast which is when I take it...but immediately after lunch. And it doesn't matter what I eat for lunch either. My doctor is having me take it to try to avoid getting an ulcer as I am also on a 325 mg aspirin pill each day after a stroke and Celebrex for my arthritis.
Meds like Ibuprophen (Motrin) worked well for me for cramps. Later on, I took a Cox 2 inhibitor (like Celebrex) and that was effective. I hope this will run a normal course, and hope you're feeling better soon.
The urine culture always came out negative but even then I have taken oflaxcin for 6 weeks and then Bectrin DS for 4 weeks. Antibiotics help for a while but then cause more problems like stomach pain and cramps. I had leukocytes in the urine but the culture was negative. I have been on flomax (0.4)mg but the urge to urinate was there all the time so my doctor added (Vesicare 5mg).
This time he prescribed Celebrex. I learned that afternoon that there is no generic for Celebrex and it costs over $200. So, I went back to see him and he prescribed Mobic and tested me for Hepatitis. I'm still not clear on his reason for that last part, but hey, I'm no doctor. I've been on Mobic for a month now and I don't feel any better. I don't know where else to go if this isn't an orthopedic issue.
I took antibacterial (flucloxacillin), 4 days ago and I can feel that the cramps would only last for 10 minutes. Yesterday, I didn't even feel the cramps, just a bit sore on the arm. Question: 1) What would be the difference between the two? (Psoriasis Arthritis or Rheumatoid Arthritis) Based on what I've experience... do I have a RA or PA? 2) For relieving pain, would hot or cold compress be more applicable? Any suggestions for relieving pain would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Upon seeing my Primary dcotor again, he gave me a GI cocktail which helped, although I was asymptomatic that morning - figures huh?, and he told me to stop Celebrex and began me on prescription omeprazole (20 mg) once daily for a month and then to see if my problems improve). Around this same time I bought the best probiotic I could find at the health food store (refrigerated with over 40 billion strains or something).
this is causing a nerve impingement and pain radiating down my legs I take gabapentin 1800 mg for this, I also have arthritis of the hips and this also is contributing to the pain radiating down my thighs and legs I take celebrex for this. I also take 20 mg of oxycontin daily for leg and back pain. You need to see a neurologist or someone to order an MRI to get to the source of your pain than get it properly treated.
A person takes one drug to fix a problem, which creates another problem that needs a different drug and so on. Lipitor, Nexium, Zoloft and Celebrex may sound like names of foreign countries or species, but to some consumers, they are the names of their new best friends. These magical pills seem to have an answer for any uncomfortable health conditions, whether it is allergies, rashes, depression, social anxiety, menstrual cramps or arthritis.
I took Tylenol 325 mg 1-2 tabs when I took my injection and then again the following morning. It worked well. Most people, even if they have liver disease, can take up to 2000 mg of Tylenol per 24 hours (in divided doses).
Let me start by saying I was recently diagnosed with Fibro, but now that I have been doing some reading I think I might be misdiagnosed, can anyone give me there opinion? Symptoms are fatigue, muscle pain, brain fog, mem loss, can't concentrate, can not get much sleep at all, some rib pain that comes and goes, shortness of breath with any physical exertion.
Hopefully one of the more knowledgable members will come by, to answer this question, but until then, I definitely wouldn't give here Motrin, or Tylenol. Both those meds gave me severe cramps when I took them this year, and I only have fibrosis. Is there an Advice Nurse you can consult, via the phone, at your local E.R.?
