Celebrex and skin rash

Common Questions and Answers about Celebrex and skin rash

celebrex

I have a rash in the shape of a circle about the size of 2 half dollars on the inside of my right thigh. It itches and I think it is from taking Celebrex for over 6 months now. Is there any way to get rid of it?
i am having so severe side effects from my med mainy celebrex i have had an heart test and was seen as early polarization , diagnosed with chronic gastrointestinal reflux and have skin rash and legions . i am thinking of a claim against them . but in the main time i dont want my doctors to feel bad as they have been with me since my early twenties.
Some products cause a reaction only when they contact the skin and are exposed to sunlight (photosensitivity). The skin lesion or rash at the site of exposure could vary from reddish rash, papules (pimple-like), vesicles, and bullae (blisters). Topical corticosteroid medications may be used to reduce the inflammation. A course of oral antibiotics could also be indicated for the pustules to clear up. Ref:http://www.myonlinewellness.
My wife has been suffering from joint pain and a rash. The rash will come and go daily on different parts of her body. If the rash is close to a joint, it will cause severe pain. We have had all types of test, all come back normal. Have went to three different Doctors, they make her feel like there is nothing wrong with her. She is crying alot now, and talking about not wanting to go on with life. It is putting a big stress on are family. I do not know what else to do.
5/30/03 dermatologist injects site with corticosteroid and gives bactracyn packets. That evening I develop a red pin point rash on both sides of my neck. The muscle surrounding the infected area swells and is sore. 7/8/03 Unable to get a referral to go back to dermatologist, I see pcp; he prescribes 1 week of cipro, 2x day and celebrex. 7/21/03 Unable to get derm referral I go to Travis AFB, Fairfield CA to see staff derm. He prescribed 3 mo.
My situation is similar to what I’ve been reading in these posts. I’ll start with the one detail that I haven’t read so far. The skin in the area of my rash is hard and almost leathery. I was told that the medical term is “indurated” (definition: hardened, as a soft tissue that becomes extremely firm). For anyone interested I’m including my details. Three weeks ago I was barefoot and rushing around when I went from a wet floor to a marble first step and literally went flying.
exam, went to local clinic and tried stopping Celebrex and Allegra and took Hydroxizine. No help so far and I am getting crazy, cannot sleep. No aquatic/marine exposure (don't swim or use hot tub) Can you please render input of possibilities, recall that I AM going to see doctors, too, BUT I would like your observations.
These symptoms are pretty strange and I am not sure what is going on. Itchy rash, hives and pain all over that migrates. My tempature ranges from a 98.4-99.4, which I have been told by several doctors this is not a fever. Is there a doctor or someonelese that can help with these symptoms?

Not sure what caused it. A possibility is Celebrex that I take on and off for inflamation, headache, or pain. I had taken one Wednesday morning. As told by the ER doctor, I took the Benedryl every six hours. Thursday, around the 5/5:30 time period, my lips started swelling again. Because I had a play i wanted to go to I took a Benedryl and that held off the swelling and the intense itching on my hands.
hallucinations, drowsiness, insomnia, headaches, swelling of the throat and face, nausea, vomiting, muscle tightness or weakness, rash, and constipation. When consumed in higher doses, Tramadol can cause a euphoric feeling as well as shallow breathing and death from overdose. Nonetheless, the physicians persist on thinking about this medication in the way they got used to when it first came out and the way it was "sold" to them by the pharmaceutical reps.
I have tried Certo and grape juice, tylenol arthritis, Celebrex, and the off brand of something similar. So far I have found that Celebrex works the best, especially when paired with physical exercise. Lifting light weights, doing push-ups on a wall, even just arm circles and stretching. It sounds like it would make it worse, but it actually helps a lot!
Took Ridaura and eight entrophen 10 daily for eight years, then sulfasalazine for 4 yrs. and celebrex. For past 2 months, have taken almost nothing, hoping all these weird things would disappear. No improvement whatsoever. I'm very frightened. Please......any suggestions whatsoever? I'm thinking along the lines of Lupus, MS (but no "heaviness" feelings!), diabetes, acoustic neuroma (however at last testing 2 yrs. ago, no hearing loss) ...... ?????
I had an elevated sed rate of about 10 points last year at one time but now that is back to normal. I had a rash on arms and legs last year. Have you had a rash? I have felt generally very ill several times over the past year. I feel feverish alot but not actually running a temperature just get real hot. Also, I have strange tingling throughout my body which kind of has a hurt to it along with some kind of a chill like sensation.
The Celebrex has helped a lot. Just a thought. I have used Celebrex on and off for 6 years and have no ill effects. It is way better than ibuprofen, Alleve and the like. It doesn't irritate my stomach and does not make you drowsy or anything. Obviously there is an underlying cause for your son's ailments, but immediate relief of symptoms while you are dealing with the underlying cause is a good thing. Also, Allegra gave me severe back pain. Just something else to consider. Good luck.
I'm off to see my derm tomorrow, so am going to say to stop the tablets, as much as I want to see if it works (and I know that my skin is a lot drier and smoother but still have spots), I have anything between 1 - 3 months to go...feeling like this, is not going to happen, unless I gave up work, but cannot. Hope I do not get these permenent side effects....
Well, I've been on Biotin since I've started taking Topamax the second time, and most of the time I took it the first time.... the first time I was taking 100mg 2x daily, and had the rash side effect and had to come off cold turkey with the help of ativan they gave me and a no driving restriction for 4 day. I noticed a little hair loss the first time I was taking it, and thought/hoped I was being paranoid... it stopped when I stopped the topamax..
The only reason I am able to make it this time is I stopped a few other meds-Previcid,Zocor and Celebrex. That makes it easier. I also have difficulty with soda or any carbonated drink. They all taste yucky and taste flat. Some foods feel odd to chew. Has anyone else had gastric problems? Will this pass or should I give it up before I further tear up my stomach? Thanks if you have any tips for me.
I've been going back to my rheumatologist because I had a checkup yesterday and my doctor said he saw the butterfly rash, and everytime I've gone to the rheumatologist he didn't see it, so the doctor told me to go back and see my rheumatologist and he said it is the butterfly rash and it's consistant with lupus which he ruled out earlier. Another doctor diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia, and now my rheumatologist suspects lupus.
I also feel depressed all the time and I have horrible muscle pain and body aches. I can be perfectly fine one day and the next day I wake up and my whole body aches for weeks. It's so bad I feel like I've been run over by an 18 wheeler truck. It's so bad that I can barely move and I'm miserable. Then it will suddenly go away just as quickly and mysteriously as it came on. I also can't do anything physical now without getting severe muscle pain.
I am 7 weeks post but still breaking out off and on with rash,,,Its very bad front of elbows, back of knees and on my neck. I had one break out pretty bad right after stopping meds and took about 7 days to clear out. 640 (which is one titter lower than yours, which is clearly high then), arthritis, sun-induced rash, and mouth ulcers (I met at least 4 of the ACR criteria for SLE)...
one doctor thought out of control migraines the other abdominal migraines. i was put on antacids anti nasea pills and celebrex i had ultrasounds and tests and still no solution. i then started flushing red in the face almost everyday. i broke out in what i thought was acne. until it spread to my body. i then put it down to an allergy to a plant or something... as no ati hystamine was working i went to the chemist and they said it was a drug allergy to celebrex.
Not realizing a possible connection, I took the same dose again the following day and 3 celebrex (1 day dose)during that week. Problem with frequent urination continues six weeks later. 6-7x a night at minimum. Problem also during the day. I should note that I have been previously diagnosed as having tight bladder neck muscle, so I generally did not empty my bladder in tests (assume it was 1/2 full). I understand correlation vs. causation.

For the past 20 years (on and off), I have had a sensation that the skin in the taint area is tightening and tingling (pins and needles). It's not painful, but very uncomfortable. GP has not been able to diagnose. Urologist thinks possibly chronic prostatitus. Anyone else have any ideas? I've had hemroids in the past, minor bulging in groin from an inguinal hernia (no pain), and a testical that sometimes will ascend.
Some years ago I had an accident with a insecticide that spilled down my shirt and burned my skin causing a rash. It went away but in the last year I have developed what seems like a fungus under my breast where the insecticide burned. I really want it to go away and i have treated it with an anti-fungal cream or a pure aloe vera gel which makes it seem to go away. Soon as i stop...its back. I have been to doctors and have been told to use lamisil which doesnt make it go away either.
I am just tired of being tired so I better get it looked at again! I was taking my husbands celebrex and it seemed to sometimes work and sometimes not. So at the risk of the side effects, I stopped taking it. After I have the time to go to the chiropractor and/or get and MRI I will share my diagnosis...if I even get one!
After the birth of my first daughter (12 yrs. ago) I began to have symptoms...joint pain, facial rash, and hair loss. I have seen a chiropractor for about 10 yrs. to deal with the joint pain. About a yr. ago I started meds to treat the "rosacea" on my face with no improvement. The rash looks malar but had Lupus Band Test done and that was negative. Dermy referred me to a rheumy after running an ANA panel which came back at 1:160 with a centromere pattern.
However, there is validity to the premise that pain will actually keep you alive longer, and it's always an ongoing challenge to find the balance of pain and/or anxiety control. Remember, too, that acute co-morbid events, ie: coronary, pulmonary or spontaneous bleeding and clotting can occur at any time and hasten death Additionally, it is not uncommon for liver failure patients to wax and wane in terms of their mentation, confusion and overall state.
